I bet we could name off a dozen sports animes without even trying but we'll wrack our brains just to think of one.
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

Sport entertainment in the US is one of the most lucrative industries in the world, because of that there are so many means of watching damn near every sport live, which means the market for fictional sport stories isn't very large. It is almost entirely dominated by live-action major motion pictures, with only a handful of weekly television shows being able to survive.

No Major on the list? I am disappoint.

I'm surprised Yowapeda is there or Prince of Tennis. I find those more fun than inspiring.

Sorry about that. I had put up that link and was going to say something about a line in the there. This sentence: "Ranking site Goo recently asked its readers what sports manga influenced them into choosing the sport they played in their youth, and the results looked a little something like this:"

I'm just wondering what the participation percentage is per country.

This could be another reason sport manga doesn't do well in the US and why the US doesn't produce any of the sort, we don't need it. All of every kid's sport inspirations and heroes are always on television. And I feel bad for the less than athletic kid who thinks he's gonna pull a Kuroko to play basketball. While people at a playground court get ignored if they look like they suck, as soon as they score one basket that "lack of presence" goes away entirely.
