simularities with neon genesis

have anyone notice the simlarities on characters with the neon genesis evangelion?
i mean.. Kishimoto Ayase is identical to Ayanami Rei, both(and more) on look and (a little less, but still alot) on the phyche.
Takumi Nishijou's favorite quote "save me! someone save me!". i cant help it but think about ikari shinji..
sooo my queston is, is it just me?
any other thoughts?

Those are all common enough archetypes at the time of the production of the original visual novel, so I doubt any significant influence.

The male protagonist is a rather typical introverted coward I would say, which represents the stereotypical hikikomori that can be found in many anime rather.
