It's 2015. Mobile Internet usage is common. The IPv4 pool is rapidly depleting, so more and more people are behind NATs. Static IPs are becoming *less* common than ever before.

So please, stop making MyAnimeList log you out if your IP address changes with the obnoxious "Sorry! We've had a problem keeping you logged in." message. This is not a banking website. It is a site for ranking Japanese cartoons. IP address locks are security theatre on a site that lets any WiFi sniffer steal your password (no mandatory HTTPS).

Thank you.

Yeah, some people are lucky enough to have static IPs on their home Internet so only suffer it on a mobile connection.

Unfortunately, many (most likely most) people do not have that luxury. In my case: my main Internet is my university's, which has a dynamic IP. At my parents', I have a dynamic IP. On my phone... I have an dynamic IP. You get the picture.

Now, if I really want to have a static IP I can tunnel everything through my VPS, but that's a lot of work to maintain my list of anime.

Speaking of HTTPS...

myanimelist.net uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is only valid for www.sonypro-latin.com
The certificate expired on 2014-10-04 02:59. The current time is 2015-04-19 04:14.

Even if the user accepts the certificate, Incapsula reports that:

myanimelist.net - SSL Not Supported
Error code 29
SSL is not supported

Not particularly related to the topic, but would be nice to see this addressed in the future.

My IP adress changes every half hour and sometimes less. This is literally the only website that wont keep me logged in.

Yeah, definitely something to alter.

On top of that, I get bloody useless incapsula security checks every two threads so I've basically given up using this site on mobile.

I have my anime/manga lists pinned to my browser so I visit this site practically every time I open my browser, which is everyday. And this website can't even [insert expletive] remember my login for 5 [insert expletive] seconds, it makes me feel like smashing my computer against a wall (which I wouldn't do, of course, because what I really want to smash is this website's [insert expletive] persistent login page.

I have more sensitive information in my email but it can remember to keep me logged in. I don't understand why this website (with pseudonyms and internet names keeping a checklist) shouldn't. I mean, what the [insert expletive] is that tick box "Always stay logged in?" there for? This website was totally fine and had no problems keeping me logged in like a year ago. What the [insert expletive] happened?

TL;DR
Yes, logging me out every 5 seconds is ANNOYING.
Yes, I wan't it fixed. I want to be automatically logged in every time unless I opt out from it.

PS: I've had to copy/paste this entire message from a notepad because I had to make this post literally within 5 seconds from logging in. So yeah, the website's practically useless now. I just persistently logged in to let out this rant. Kthxbye.

PPS: I'm glad I found this forum and I'm relieved I'm not the only one experiencing this annoying inconvenience.

Does your IP stay the same?
Anyway, your options are using proxy (Hotspot Shield, TunnelBear, public proxies, etc.) or some apps, e.g. MAL Updater, Taiga, Atarashii!, etc.

This is hardly a suggestion, it's just a complaint...

I'm somewhat ok with it since it's not that bothersome. But the giant login object is annoying. I'm not some old guy, I can still see fine, thanks.

I have a dynamic IP and I've tried using proxies, but I still kept getting kicked out.
However, I noticed I was logged out only once just today. MAL probably finally fixed it as the announcement linked in erengy's post says.

That's good news indeed!
