Damn, only 1 episode in and people are already wondering if this anime will have an anime original ending.

It's a monthly series with only 30 chapters out. I'd expect one definitely

It's already been confirmed that the author will have direct involvement in the episodes after it catches up with the manga. Similar thing happened with the final episodes of FMA: Brotherhood. I don't think they're going anime original with this one:http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-03-15/seraph-of-the-end-additional-cast-creator-direct-involvement-revealed/.85991

Having the original manga artist onboard won't keep this from deviating from the source. There was a similar deal with Akame ga Kill! in that the author was involved with the creation of the anime as well, and guess how that ended up?

Nope, the author is directly involved and he's supervising the anime. The manga is currently in the middle of the closing arc for part 1 of the manga so they're just adapting all of the part 1 in this season.

They never went out of their way to tell that to the fans though. The fact was known only after the anime ended iirc.

It could, it might not. With the split cour, that helps give the manga bonus time to get more material out. I think it'll come down to three primary factors:

1- the pacing of the episodes; i.e. how many chapters per episode they manage to do

2- how much fleshing out of the original manga material they do, e.g. expansion of preexisting content, maybe little extra scenes that weren't preexisting but fit in well in such a way that you can't look at it as just "anime filler"

3- what kinds of changes the mangaka will direct them to take

That last one is the least easy to figure out at this point in time. It's anyone's guess.

This I was not aware of. That said I hope the ending to Part 1 is enough to make the series stand on it's own since I imagine there won't be a third season for a very very long time. If not then perhaps we would be better off with a different ending?

I'd still prefer they stick with the manga cause it will be easier to make another season if the anime is successful. Remakes are really rare nowadays. There will be enough materials again after 3 years, just like SnK S2 that is coming next year. o/
Since the author is originally a LN author, maybe they can make a S2 without waiting for the manga lol. There's also the prequel LN about Guren that the author is writing which is enough for another 2-cour anime.

I know this is overly optimistic but we rarely got faithful adaptations like this one so it won't hurt to be hopeful I guess. I've already been disappointed by many adaptations so even if this one flop, I don't think it will affect me much though it'd be great if it's successful enough to get another sequel/prequel in the future.

From what I read on Wiki this was confirmed to be 24 episodes straight with an original content after getting ahead of the manga. But before this was aired they decided giving this two separate cours(two seasons) which will give more time to release more manga chapters. Now it's only math, the studio is the same has Shingeki, 7-8 volumes could probably be a few more than twentyish eps I think. But the final question will be deducing the pace of the adaption.

Maybe original content but it continues the manga then the adaptation can continue in 3 years... -_-

Anime is good, fucking deal with it.

HEY! I want to revive this thread because, it is interesting.

So, now the anime is on it's second cour and a lot of manga readers (not me) speculated that this anime is going to take a different route (having an original ending). What's your opinion about this? o.o
