Smells of shitty cash grab. Going to initially pass on it.

please send me a link of the official trailer or plot info that you have which nobody else currently has

Let's see how this turns out to be.

most intelligent post so far lol

I don't get why people keep saying the ending was perfect and there's no need for a sequel as it might "ruin" it... the ending wasn't perfect lol it was rushed as hell and generally felt awkward.. so doing a sequel with better pacing entices me

If it continues being as average as the movie, a lot of fans will end up disappointed.

retaining my hype till i actually watch it even if it's more Steins Gate i would hate for it to end up being somehow more disappointing than the movie.

I am speechless. What?

But the problem is, it better not ruin the entire series

I have to agree with that. I Hope they can pull of some epic shit with messing up the story. Its gonna be a hard task though I'm sure 5pb has thought well & hard about this.

I was gonna rewatch it but now Ill hold off until the Blu-Ray of this comes out THEN Ill watch it! Gotta see it in its full glory na mean!?

This is the world where Kurisu dies early, right? Since it is set in Beta world line

Only reason I'm happy about this is because I have a reason & motivation to re-watch the series again.

The writing was too damn good for it not to be at least worthy of watching. Not to mention they can basically start from scratch (aside from a few time travel rules and character outcomes) and create their own story without relying on Steins;Gate and making it feel too much like a second season. Also, they've had plenty of time to reflect on the series so I don't imagine they're only writing it to get the hyped fanbase into a frenzy and thus rush it. I imagine it won't be as good as S;G, but I'll still really like it

It's stated in the VN that the Steins;Gate line is not part of any attractor field.

It's also stated that Steins;Gate Zero will take elements from the Beta worldline drama CDs as well as the Epigraph trilogy, which suggests that it's about Okabe after he fails to save Kurisu.

Although Amadeus is a thing
Behold! The way is clear! We're free! I, the mad scientist, Hououin Kyouma, have triumphed under a twofold assault, from SERN and the Organization, by twisting the very fundamentals of time and space! The world as we know it has been put to rights, and a future of chaos awaits us. This, my friends, is the choice of Steins;Gate!

So pumped for this. Though I don't feel like a sequel was really necessary, more Steins;Gate is always welcome.

Meh. It feels like it will be in the same vain of the movie, a cash grab, and milking.

Not looking forward to it.

We'll get to see the dystopia that SERN creates, it's something extremely important that has hardly been touched upon yet.

That was the alpha wordline, though. This is the beta worldline where WW3 happens.

People shouldn't really misunderstand. It's canon, though indirectly and barely mentioned, because it's basically Okabe's first fuck up in attempt to save Kurisu. It's basically his journey until the point in which he creates the mail he sents to his past self. I don't understand why it's considered a "sequel", since it derives from the main story. But it does affect the main plot though, because if S;G 0 fucks up the existing laws of time travel like the movie did, then yea the overall story of S;G degrades.

Nevertheless, HYPE!!!!!!

Yeah either way I'm happy, if this goes well then we can see more of stein gate in the future which I think will be a good thing really, even if its terrible we will still have the original anyway. Plus even if they mess it up a little with the cannon they can just do a different time line better with the undoubted flood of hate that will force them to from japan alone.

So let me get this straight, this new steins; gate, its going to be about that beta timeline which was mentioned but not really touched in the first anime right?

So the issue now is because its being called a "sequel" thats where the problem is to this mixed opinions of it being shit and hyped?

How is a spin-off about yuki?

I wish people stop voting this for gintama to be back in the top 10.

I literally just finished the anime ova and movie today, now a sequels coming out? Perfect! Didn't it say Kurisu was still trapped in another timeline? Like a scenario where she was never saved by Okabe?

welp, time to rewatch the original series + that crappy movie and see if this is good news or not. really liked the original - not a masterpiece the way many see it, but still a really good story with great characters and flow.
