Steins;Gate belongs to my favourite animes, but I'm not really happy though. I don't know why. Maybe, because i think that a sequel is quite unnecessary? Dunno. Well, but I'm looking forward to it. I don't expect it to be good.
I love the epigraph trilogy. If they keep that "alternate universe" vibe instead of doing a direct sequel I will be most pleased.
If they do a sequel to the Steins Gate timeline I will not even bother to watch, though.

If it really is an adaptation of The Epigraph Trilogy, or at least something similar, then it actually makes sense. This is what would have happened if Okabe decided not to retry saving Kurisu. In other words, we would get a story with a known ending. Kinda like Fate/zero, I guess. So, yeah, it wouldn't be precisely a sequel of the series.

I have no idea why they would call it a sequel when it actually happens "before" the ending.
It is a sequel of that world line, but not a sequel of the Steins;Gate world line. It's 1.129848%.

And while I agree that it was overall a somewhat decent series, the immense hype about the show ever since I watched it weekly back then continues to suprise me.
From the looks of it, it doesn't take place on the canon Steins;Gate timeline.
The description thus far, stating that it's incorporating the Epigraph trilogy and the Beta drama CDs suggests that it's about Okabe after he failed to save Kurisu the first time.
I really want to see the Gamma worldline acknowledged outside of Hyde of the Dark Dimension though.
Behold! The way is clear! We're free! I, the mad scientist, Hououin Kyouma, have triumphed under a twofold assault, from SERN and the Organization, by twisting the very fundamentals of time and space! The world as we know it has been put to rights, and a future of chaos awaits us. This, my friends, is the choice of Steins;Gate!
