A new visual novel titled Steins;Gate 0 and an anime adaptation of it were announced today. The news came in addition to the ChäoS;Child anime announcement during 5pb's live stream today, held by representative Chiyomaru Shikura. This game will be a sequel to the visual novel Steins;Gate and will also incorporate content from the Epigraph Trilogy of light novels/manga (Heiji Kyokusen no Epigraph, Eigou Kaiki no Pandora, and Mugen Enten no Arutaeru) and the drama CDs. This latest installment of the series will be the first to have a numbering title. Steins;Gate was previously adapted into a TV anime series in 2011 and a movie in 2013. | This is dumb, the story is finished and the movie already felt like a tacked on addition that barely enhanced the experience. What can a sequel possibly bring to the table that doesn't feel like a forced attempt to milk it? And while I agree that it was overall a somewhat decent series, the immense hype about the show ever since I watched it weekly back then continues to suprise me. |

This is not a true sequel (neither was the movie because it's not canon and shouldn't be considered as such), because it's only the continuation of the world line where he failed to save Kurisu, and how he will start working on the video mail. Please don't state it as an actual sequel... That said, I'm skeptical, because all these spin-offs have a huge chance at fucking up the established rules of the world and by that messing up the whole story :/ I won't consider it canon unless they truly don't make any mistake. |

The Epigraph Trilogy explained the future of that world line, which we didn't have to sit through thanks to how the world of S;G works. It's not an actual part of the main story, therefore it is a spin-off. I have no idea why they would call it a sequel when it actually happens "before" the ending. It is a sequel of that world line, but not a sequel of the Steins;Gate world line. It's 1.129848%. |

| Love Steins;Gate. One of my top 5 anime, but this is one of those series that doesn't ever need a sequel. the way it ended was a master piece. Plus the movie made it even more beautiful. I will check it out but this just seems like a cash grab by Nitroplus. |

| This is great news, although I think a new installment isn't necessary is totally welcome. We can only expected to have the same quality as the previous works... It will be very interesting to see this part of the story, I really hope that is represented brilliantly. They will be very careful, I think and I hope. |
