Haven't seen Frozen before (not sure if I want to) but I'm glad to see Ping Pong the Animation getting Animation of the Year award.

Hyped for Lupin III for Spring now after seeing Monkey Punch listed on the Honorary section.

Deserved. Well deserved.

Why is Frozen winning a Japanese award...?

EDIT: I'm pretty sure if they included (all) international possibilities they could surely come up with something better. I feel like it's just because Frozen is so popular and American/English. Makes Ping Pong look less impressive...

Well deserved win for Ping Pong.

Surprised to see Frozen, its a good movie, but not really that outstanding. Still glad to see it since that means that Japan is open enough for foreign things to actually give an award to Frozen :D

It's an animated film with probably a 2014 release in Japan. Doesn't specifically have to be anime, I think.

Good to see Ping Pong and some other deserved contenders won.

Was Uchiyama's perferormance really that special?
I can't help but find the idea of Nisekoi being exceptional in any way kinda laughable.

He didn't win for SnK, just to note. We added a role for each winner to give users a bit of recognition. SnK is just much, much more popular than Gundam UC. I will agree with you though, UC's OST is great. I was listening to a bunch of tracks for up to 2 months after I finished the series.

Same here. Perhaps I should add a note to the post.

Anime means Animation in Japan. I don't believe the Tokyo Anime Awards are solely for domestic animation, but also international.

Very happy to see Ping Pong up there. Frozen and Stand By Me Doraemon should switch places, not that I've watched the latter yet. Uchiyama Kouki getting some recognition, nice. Raku was a role that was different from most of his previous roles which I've seen, and he did pretty well with the character imo. And he was also a really fitting choice for Smile in Ping Pong.

Not surprised to see Frozen there at all, here in Norway, tourism from Japan has exploded ever since Frozen, there was almost never tourists from Japan here in Northern Norway, now they're shuttling in planes chock full of Japanese people daily.

I find it peculiar that they would come in the dead of winter though, but I guess that's how they get the authentic "Frozen" experience :P

Also, I don't remember any Japanese movies from 2015, at least not any worthy of note, and Frozen did win in the movie category, so what other movies than Frozen could/ would win?

Fucking Frozen wins movie of the year.

Hipster: The Animation wins TV show of the year.

I've never followed these awards, and I certainly never will now. What a complete disaster.

Yet MAL users and people I know personally have told me that Ping Pong's animation sucks... lol.

Congrats to Kouki Uchiyama! I fell in love with his voice back in 2008 when he voiced Soul from Soul Eater, and I've been a fan ever since.

It does suck. It's a hipster show.

Yoko Kano should've won. Her work is definitely better than Sawano's.
