Good news! As far as the terrible Volume 1 English translation went, It seems Yen press has gotten their act together for the Second one! Make sure to buy it/order it to support the novels! Still no news for a Fan translation for the 7th volume.

July 27th - August 2nd

^^ NGNL had the best LN7 sales last week (31.5k) by over 10,000 copies, a massive amount for a light novel. This is about 150% more than the 2nd best-selling light novel of last week.

July 20th - 26th

^^ The week before last, when LN7 was released, NGNL sold over 68,000 copies. This is a legendary amount. It was well over double the sales of the 2nd best selling light novel.

Based on this, it would be easy for LN7 to break 200k copies by the end of august. That would definitely increase, or rather jump-start the likelihood of Season 2. I hope Madhouse gets the message.

Also, NGNL has been dropping in rank of the "Top Anime" list recently. With S2 approaching, it is highly possible that more people will be drawn into starting S1, and very probably getting NGNL back to page 1.

Getting my hopes up is all I can do at the moment. Right now S2 is a fantasy. And all I'm doing is dreaming.

If they gave Chi's Sweet Home and Chobits a sequel, then they are probably gonna make NGNL sequel. The road is fucking paved and decorated, there is literally no reason not to make it.

What are they missing? They got content, they got funds. They have the capacity and they can make a fuck ton of money out of it.

Also please dont post degrading stuff here.

You should put that in your OP.
Btw, maybe Madhouse hasn't got the time for it? Or to be exact they want to invest their time into something else?
Just a suggestion.

Lol this isn't my thread :P

And a company can't "not have time" for such a good investment. If they have time to work on anime that won't earn them nearly as much money as NGNL S2, then they will most likely have time to work on NGNL S2.

The point of being a company is to make money, so investing their time into something else isnt gonna cut it. Unless every project they are working on is projected to be more successful then NGNL S2, which is incredibly unlikely, as Season 1 is in the Top 50 best rated anime ever.

Eighth volume is needed to complete the arc so the second season can not be in development right now. Animation per episode doesn't happen linearly/chronologically but happens at the same time.

In comparison to season 1.

. Volume 3 came out January 25

. Anime announcement in July and came out April of the next year.

Assuming the author returned to his five month release schedule, volume 8 will come out between December 2015 and January 2016. Add six months before announcement, add roughly a year for it to begin broadcasting. Assuming Summer or Fall 2017.

It's not exactly a close date but it's the best we got.

[*]Changed Estimation for Season 2

That makes a lot of sense. Unless you factor in the 15 month "hiatus" as a common release interval now, which could easily set Season 2 to late 2019. Which would suck.

Yo HaXX - I understand that it's not confirmed. However, at this point in time, what's you're opinion on the possibility of S2?

Well volume 7 finally got released at least after a long time of waiting, though it remains to be seen if the author will pick up the pace again after this with continuous releases or if it'll have another long wait before volume 8. Either way a second season should with all likeliness cover volumes 4-6 so there is enough content for it, but not a whole lot of margin as of yet. Still I've seen many light novels get adapted while they're only a volume or two ahead of what the adaptation will cover so in that sense I guess it's totally possible

As far as sales go it was fairly successful in Japan as well so there's no problem on that front. I think the biggest hindrance right now is probably just the fact that it's Madhouse pulling the strings on this, and historically Madhouse are quite infamous for not doing consecutive seasons of their adaptations very often at all, even when it logically seems warranted. So we can't really assume anything here

There's also the fact that at the end of the first season, they made a teaser by showing the ending of volume 6 all of a sudden. Some people think this would make it difficult to just continue where the story left off in the first season and thus that it's less likely for a sequel to pop up, but personally I don't really think that'll be too much of an issue. With some good directing that should be an issue you could quite easily skirt around one way or another. However you also have to argue that the whole reason they made that teaser in the first place was to motivate people to pick up the light novels in order to get to see the continuation, so it's very likely that they're satisfied with what they got out of the anime and are thus not really considering making a second season

Either way I don't think it could happen before let's say Fall 2016 or so at the very earliest, but if it's going to happen then probably not any later than 2017 at least. If we still have nothing by then, you can probably kiss your hopes goodbye. As it stands right now, anything is possible really. Personally... I'd really like to believe a sequel is going to arrive one day but I'm not getting my hopes up either. I'm more or less 50/50 on the matter

Then I guess let us pray.
But HaXXspetten does no-one seriously know why Madhouse has the urge not to do consecutive seasons? It's just so weird 😒
Hmm well you say 2017, so a sequel within only one year, yay! If there is one I mean.

There probably won't be a season 2 ever (I know it hurts but we have to accept it). The anime was made to boost the sales of the light novel, and they purposely ended it on cliffhanger so that you would think, "WHAT?! WHAT HAPPENED?! I HAVE TO KNOW!!!", which would make you buy the novels. It worked on me... those fuc!kers managed to convince me to buy the books -_-

There still remains the possibility that another publisher will obtain the rights to NGNL, and possibly make season 2 I guess...

In which case, S2 may be released in 2016 (best but least likely case scenario)

Though if they can imitate the quality that Madhouse produced is another question.

This piece of information is probably unknown to many people, but the ending of episode 12 was supposed to be "anime original." The author was asked to write it for the script of the episode but then, later, wrote the same thing to the ending of novel's 6th volume.
https://twitter.com/yuukamiya68/status/481828013634379777
The entire anime production ended at around December 2013, the first episode aired at the start of April 2014 and the 6th volume came out near the end of the same month. Basically, the author actually made that ending canon and could easily adapt the beginning of a (possible?) second season with its original ending.

Well of course but the ending of volume 6 isn't particularly related to the actual plot events taking place during volume 4,5,6 so it's not like all that content has to be skipped just because of that

Well, here is the prologue if you're interested. Alas, I did not translate this myself. I stumbled upon it via some random reddit thread. There appear to be some grammatical errors, but...

EDIT: Forgot to mention - there is word the same person is still in the process of translating the rest. I unfortunately have no idea where to find source.
