114 consecutive weeks of charting now, which is the record by far for anime related singles/albums (which includes seiyuu songs, anime songs, etc). Pretty amazing considering the Best Live! collection is 3,300 yen for the Regular Edition, 5,000 yen for the BD Regular Edition, and 8000 yen for the BD Limited Edition, where the majority went for the BD Regular Edition and BD Limited Edition. However this incredibly long tail probably would've not been possible had it not been for the cross-marketing the mobile game provides, which is basically an advertisement of around half the Love Live! discography.

Still a fair way off catching the most non-consecutive weeks charted record (which is at 143) by the Macross Frontier Vocal Collection Musume Tama♀ album... but Macross Frontier was a beast in itself in terms of music sales.

Almost breaking the 10k mark for Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata huh? Interesting.

Oh and I just watched Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow Vol.2 lately. I wonder how the final volume will do though later this year.

It will be a trilogy. The third one (which will be the last) is titled Falling Down.

Yay for high sales for P3 movie 2! I haven't watched the first one yet though...

Dismal sales for World Trigger though, oh well

And even though it will already disappear in the rankings next week, I'm still happy the Mikagura album's selling.

So you don't know if the trilogy will cover the entire story?

I don't know how good is the TV rating, but I think World Trigger, or any Toei's work in general, do not rely much on disc sales.

With the budget they have spent on WT these sales are more than enough.

Is it ever mentioned that it will be a trilogy though? Most people speculated that there would be 4 movies total since the titles are based on seasons; Spring of Birth, MidSummer Knight's Dream and Falling Down.

I wonder if there will ever be a Slam Dunk re-adaptation... It's okay to hope right?

The anime airs at 6:30 a.m and is from Toei. So it isn't targeted at the Otaku/nighttime market, that is the audience that mainly buy DVD and BD.

Given the fact that World Trigger sold more than Naruto(by 400), that airs in prime time, and given the fact that it sold 700 Blu-ray, normally the so called mainstream anime sell horrible in terms of Blu-ray, I would say these are great sales.

Obviously a mainstream series selling the same has the big niche nighttime series would be an amazing feat, like Gintama and Bleach(that both had a broadcast at 6 p.m) that respectively sold 15k and 13k in average. But I never expected something like that for World Trigger.

Shorts aren't generally huge sellers, but since they're cheaper to make they don't need to sell as many. Season 1 of Yama no Susume sold about 4500, but that was kind of an outlier. Orenchi's sales actually seem pretty decent for its type of show (I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying sold about 1200, and it's getting a second season).

It also airs at 8:00 pm on tv-asahi : http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/ch/sphone/anime/0139/

Gintama sold well because it was adapted faithful by Sunrise, not Toei's worst animation though.

It also airs at 8:00 pm on tv-asahi : http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/ch/sphone/anime/0139/

World Trigger has the worst animation I've personally ever seen in a full length anime series made for TV.

No, it airs at 8:00 pm on "TV Asahi channel 1", that is a supplementary and satellite channel, and also it started to re-air it in January 11, when the series was already at episode 13!

This means that people have to pay to have that channel and they see 1 entire season before. That basically means nothing to the popularity of the series.

Now why do you bring Gintama? Because I said it aired at prime time?
Before Gintama airtime, is funny that you call Gintama adaptation "faithful" when is known that Gintama anime has a ton of differences with the manga, from what happens in events to different ordering from episodes and chapters: http://www.yorozuyasoul.com/anime/mapping. And so it isn't what one would call "adapted faithful".
World Trigger on the other hand has being adapting the manga to a T:
Episode 1 - chapter 1
Episode 2 - chapter 2 and 3
Episode 3 - chapter 4 and 5 and half of 6
Episode 4 - last half of chapter 6 and chapter 7 and chapter 8(less the 3 last pages)
Episode 5 - last 3 pages of chapter 8 and chapter 9 and chapter 10
...

If you want to call something faithful please do your research first!

About animation, yep World Trigger is low budget(though I have seen way worse) in terms of animation. One of the reasons is that targets kids and not animation obsessed anime watchers.
Animation quality to mainstream shows have little to do with how much they sell, there are a lot more factors and that is certainly not that important!
Don't believe me? Do you know HunterxHunter 2011? Do you know how it was an incredible well animated adaptation? Do you know how much it sold? Let me tell you, 5,304 copies in 17 volumes. This is average of 442 copies per volume. Best volume sold 676 copies.
One Piece that people say that has horrible animation sell 18k to 20k copies per Log Collection Box-sets and an additional 1.4k copies in normal volumes.
You can see it here: http://www.someanithing.com/2581

World Trigger selling in its first week 1.3k copies make it already better, in terms of average, than Space Brothers, Sket Dance, Fairy Tail and HunterxHunter(2011) and others. Also is selling better than current volumes of Naruto(around 900k with exception of Kakashi filler).

Now about airtime:
Gintama started by airing at 19:00 on Tuesday in TV Tokyo, a really popular public access television.

1 week after had a re-air in TV Tokyo cable broadcast and with subtitles at 17:30.

After 1 season got a re-air in AT-X Satellite Channel at 9:00 a.m.

Similar things happened in all seasons of the anime!

It seems to me that after 1 season starting re-airing the series in a satellite channel is something usual, when an anime has censors is normally the satellite channel doesn't have it, so it doesn't change the fact that World Trigger aired at morning(6:30) while Gintama aired at prime-time(19:00)

Ok I'm sorry for considering Gintama as a faithful adaptation, and wanna change to "good adaptation" instead.

If you talk about 'to pay to get a channel' then you should know people these day can watch anime online in internet instead. My room's TV doesn't has Tokyo MX channel, and my friend lives in Tokyo recommend me to use anime denpa app so I can watch anime freely. Some people can watch anime in nosub or himawari too.

You believe One Piece is selling well?

And OP box sales decrease by time. http://dvdbd.wiki.fc2.com/m/wiki/ONE%20PIECE > Promise box released in september 2014 and it sold 15k, which means if Toei sold 2 ep per DVD the sales would be 1.5k - so-called bad sales. Not to mention an OP DVD now contains 4 episodes and the price is just ~ 3000¥

What I was saying is that the re-air little does to help increasing the popularity of the title and that other titles, in this case specifically Gintama, also have the same strategy. So the fact stays that World Trigger in the main TV Channel airs really early and Gintama aired in prime time.

Note that I never said anything about the reason of Gintama selling more than World Trigger, or World Trigger not selling closer to Gintama, being the fact that one is a morning anime and the other is prime time!
I said that is a fantastic achievement for a mainstream series to sell similar to a great niche nighttime timeslot series. Just that, and that Gintama and Bleach were examples of series that did that, and that both were airing at primetime. Just that.
Note that for example Naruto is also primetime and sells only 9k!

How can you even compare a seasonal anim like World Trigger to long runners like Naruto and One Piece? Had it even been selling the same as them, that would still be cosidered a flop. And you also can't compare log collection to regular discs, that's like comparing the sales of movies to those of tv series (except it's even worse). But just like Sekuhara said, none of World Trigger, Naruto, One Piece, Space Brothers, HxH 2011, etc had good disc sales but the difference is that the others (Naruto, One Piece, Space Bros, HxH 2011etc) had good tv ratings something that (to my knowledge) WT doesn't. So how could it be considered to be doing well when even where Prime time anime usually excel (Tv ratings), it doesn't? For comaprison with another seasonal prime time anime, NNT sold has great tv ratings and above average disc sales (at least five times better than WT).

You have a poor reading comprehension or you don't read right?

1st - Shipping is not involved here, I said shipping was one of the reasons Amazon does discounts!

2nd - You're stupid if you say that Toei sales are poor because Amazon makes discounts. Amazon is a retailer, so its discounts are on them and not on Toei. If you're using amazon discounts you have to use every retailer discounts to compare things, something that is pretty stupid because is hard to do and because it doesn't affects Toei in any way.

3rd - What is the meaning of comparing a whole 500+ episodes boxsets with 25-50 episodes boxset sales? the same meaning as comparing a DVD boxset with 20 episodes of a series of 500+ episodes with a BD with 2 episodes of a series with 11 episodes! Something that you did and started.
In the end all that matters is that I compared the money that each franchise did with boxsets, you know that thing you said Toei wasn't getting much money with.

4th - You didn't read right? I used the sales of right now(Of Log Promise), that are the worse by what you said, as the average. Showing that if One Piece by doing the worse it ever did all throughout the Log Collection sales, is still doing great than in reality did a lot better than great.

5th - You're not reading or not understanding something basic. You're confusing BD sales with DVD sales. Even Saekano, that you were using as example, DVD only costs 6,480 yen not 7,500 yen. 7,500 yen is the cost of its BD sales.
One Piece Log Collection is DVDs not BDs, so obviously is cheaper.

6th - I already made the math, and showed you that 15k of Log Collection is the same has 8,825 copies of each volume of a 10 volumes "normal" series.

7th - You're not noting that While a entire normal series takes around 10 months(1 year) to sell all of his 10 volume, One Piece in 2014 sold 5 Log Collections in a year. So basically the same as 5 entire series selling 8,825 copies per volume!

8th - Also saying that something sells something per episode means little, because each series episodes cost differently to produce and the cost of the DVD and BD are different and the cost of distribution also different.
So unless you know the cost(or have an idea) that Toei, and the other company you're comparing, has to produce their episodes, DVDs, BDs and Box-set you can't talk about the money that they do per product, in this case episode.
For Example:
Think that Toei just spends 1000 yen per DVD volume, if that is the case each DVD sold by 4,800 yen would provide a profit of 3,800 yen.
Now if another company, for example A-1 of Saekano, spends 3000 yen per DVD volume, if that is the case each DVD sold by 6,480 yen would provide a profit of 3,480 yen. Less than Toei! So while Toei DVD is cheaper it makes more profit.

Certainly there is a reason why Toei products are cheaper!
That lack of information and because of the huge gradient of variation, is the reason why we normally only talk of the number of DVD or/and BD units sold. Also because that gives us what we more want to know, the popularity of a series.

World Trigger is not a seasonal series! It will have in the minimum 50 episodes, 1 entire year running.
World Trigger isn't prime-time, it airs in the beginning of the early morning at 06:30 a.m
You don't know World Trigger ratings due to only exist information of the Top 10 series, so you can't assume it has bad TV ratings. More because There never existed a series that aired at the beginning of early mornings that got into the Top 10.

I can compare World Trigger to Naruto and One Piece because their anime target the same audience, the mainstream audience. In fact, World Trigger and One Piece being early morning shows only really target Kids and young teens, while Naruto being Prime-time targets all family. Also their manga counterpart targets the same audience, Shonen from Weekly Shonen Jump.
Also:
Volume 1 sales
Gintama -> 24,859
Bleach -> 20,970
One Piece -> 7,158(One Piece at that time was airing at 19:30)
Sket Dance -> 2,170
Fairy Tail -> 1,496
Space Brothers -> 1,411
Hunter x Hunter -> 1,164(airing 18:30)
Naruto -> 901(At the time Pierrot was still thinking of doing a 2-cour season)
Hunter x Hunter(2011) -> 419

Mainstream series don't focus as much attention in DVD and BD sales as most nighttime series. So their sales aren't flops by the companies perspective.

I can compare log collection with regular disc and I also can compare movie sales with TV series! That is the reason why Oricon the main company gathering the data, organizes them all together and show it to the stores and public.
Also in the end money is money, and the output of all of them is sales, in other words, money.

Naruto that aired at prime-time, 19:30, appeared last time in the Top 10, in July of 2014 and with a weak rating of 3.1: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-08-04/japan-animation-tv-ranking-july-21-27/.77264

HunterxHunter aired first at Day time, 10:55 a.m, where sometimes appeared in the Top 10 and most times with ratings of 3.5-4.1. It got a timeslot change, due to complaints of content, to nighttime at 1:29 a.m, where only appeared 1 single time in the Top 10 with a weak rating of 2.7(though to nighttime series standard that is a great rating): https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-08-04/japan-animation-tv-ranking-july-21-27/.77264

Nanatsu no Taizai doesn't air in prime-time nor World Trigger. Nanatsu no Taizai airs in what is called Early Fringe at 17:00. Also note that from 22 episodes Nanatsu no Taizai only appeared 4 times in the Top 10 with ratings: 4.4, 4.9, 2.8, 5.3. Kaitou Joker from the same Magazine that started at the same time and that airs at 17:30, as way better TV ratings, by appearing every week and having ratings of around 6 points.

Given that you consider World Trigger TV ratings bad because they don't appear in the Top 10, then I would also call Naruto, HunterxHunter and Nanatsu no Taizai TV ratings bad, because like World Trigger most of the time they don't appear in the Top 10 either.

I don't see what is the relevance of saying that Nanatsu no Taizai is selling a lot more than World Trigger. As I said in my 1st post, World Trigger did good by keeping sales higher than 1k copies in its 1st week, though selling a similar number with good nighttime slots would be a amazing feat.

Also about Nanatsu no Taizai, note that. Its first volume and also 2nd(if I'm not wrong), have event tickets. Also the series is in the same TV block than Haikyuu!!, NNT is literally Haikyuu!! substitute, and is selling around 7k copies per volume. Haikyuu! 1st volume with even ticket sold 35k(5 times of Nanatsu no Taizai) and right now is selling around 20k per volume.

I don't know if this has ever been mentioned, but did TOEI ever fix the (multitude of) problems from the first two volumes of Sailor Moon Crystal? Because those errors were pretty embarrassing, especially when you consider the BD release was supposed to fix the errors from the original episodes.

For anyone who hasn't seen them, they make for a good laugh:

You said shipping was one of reasons Amazon did discounts so I asked why the shipping was involved here (the discounts thing). It didn't make sense eh? Since amazon has the cheapest shipping fees as I explained, I was wondering how it had to do with these discounts though.

Excuse me when did I say Toei's sales were poor because Amazon made discounts? Though I took the both cheaper prices to compare just to show how cheap an OP boxset is, you brought up the discount thing that's why I explained Amazon did the same to other animes.

I compared the price of 20 eps boxset with the price of 2 eps to show how cheap an OP boxset is now, since OP's main profit now are these boxsets while to other popular animes they're the additation. It's way different compared to how you said OP's 500+ eps boxsets sales beated Haruhi's 28 eps boxsets sales.

Oh sorry I'm such an idiot who didnt realize your miscount at first, the counting made no sense for me from the comparing with SnK thing so I mistook as the whole series's average sales and I didnt read these things after that. Sorry about this.

-> You forgot that 48.810 copies are the sales of 20 episodes while a normal anime DVD volume has 2, and an OP DVD is cheaper than a normal one ~1.3 times => if you want to compare fairly with SnK sales : 48810/(10x1.3) = 3754 copies per volume (contains 2 eps/6200¥) > this. Actually even if you don't make a count here, 15k copies of 20 eps (750¥ per ep) is no way close to 40k copies of 2 eps (3100¥ per ep) just by thinking. That's why I got no idea where the 48k copies of OP sales came at first. This is just like you count the money you earn one day, but you mistake the price of the thing you're selling 15.000¥ for 4800¥ and think that you sold too much this day.

> It doesn't need anymore, just want to say that you'd better count 20 eps = 10 volumes to compare fairly. If you want to aks why I divided to 10 volumes early, that's because of the comparing with SnK sales and the 8th place.

again, this whole contains 20 eps and each volume is cheaper then a normal one ~1.3 times => 12245/(10x1.3) = 941 copies per volume (2 eps, 6200¥)

to be fair, 3754 + 941 = 4695 copies per volume (2 eps, 6200¥)

I guess I don't have to explain this one again. Still, 20 episodes = 10 volumes not 5 if you want to compare fairly with a normal one.

With 4695 copies, do you still want to say that OP is doing well now? And I'd like to point out that vol.10-14 of 14th season were released in 2012. Each volume sold 2k copies, but now OP DVD is selling 1k per volume > dvd volumes sales are decreasing now, as well as OP boxsets. About the boxset sales, If you want to talk about 'take time to sell' then give a look here : http://dvdbd.wiki.fc2.com/m/wiki/ONE%20PIECE. Except the first box, each boxset's whole sales are pretty close to the second week's sales. And in 2010, 2011, 2012 Toei released more boxsets (6/8/7) than in 2014 (5).
