He only knew 3 or 4 chords, and he never wrote a song in his life. Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, and Chuck Berry are "Where it's at" when it comes to 50s Rock 'n Roll. Elvis might not have had the skills but the charisma he had was amazing, he also had the saddest life out of the others when you consider how his later years were. Maybe, but Carl Perkins knew how to play the guitar well, and he wrote more than half of his songs. Carl Perkins also wrote "Blue Suede Shoes," and his version went to #1 on the charts, but he got overshadowed by Elvis when he ended up in a serious car accident that kept him in the hospital for months in 1956. Elvis promised him he wouldn't do a cover version of Blue Suede Shoes, but he went and did it anyway. That's why I have no respect for Elvis. His looks and stage antics overshadowed the "Real Talent" of the other great musicians of that era. I'm not turning this into a music debate, more of just entertainment and I think Elvis was the most entertaining out of the three. Maybe he was a douche when he was younger and maybe his music wasn't the best but at least he knew how to make a crowd go wild and thats why he's remembered. Justin Bieber also apparently has a lot of fans, but anyone with a brain knows he's shit. If you're going to compare the a fanbase of little girls to a fanbase of adults which lived through world war 2 then I think you're arguing out of spite Trust me when I say I'm not alone in hating Elvis. There's just as many people who hate Elvis as there are that like him. There's even people who think Elvis shouldn't have the "King of Rock 'n Roll" title at all, the majority saying that Chuck Berry should have it. At least Carl Perkins has the "King of Rockabilly" title. |

I just randomly met people, knew the right person, got extremely lucky, or a combination of the previous. I'm sitting comfortable at $50k/yr ... OT, what summer break? Travelling. I'd like to go surfing with my friends like every year. My girlfriend wants to go to Europe and I might tag along. There's a few festivals going on, so I might go there. I also want to read a lot of books and catch up on my favourite television sitcoms. |

Not sure what part of Canada you're in, I'm guessing eastern. US oil field crashed with the prices anyways, if it comes back and you're closer to center of Canada you can try for a work visa for North Dakota. There is also the Tar Sands in Canada. They're probably in the shitter too right now though. Watch oil prices and start looking at some oil companies if/when the price starts getting closer to $80/bbl. |

Well I only get to take off 4 weeks off work this summer but I'm just planning a trip to my hometown. I'll probably be licking the sun, drinking beer (because summer), catching up with my old friends and family. Oh and my hometown has one of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see during the summer so I'll probably get my dosage of that as well. |

work, volunteer at physical therapy clinics, run, lift weights, retake the GRE and apply to grad school, go to an anime convention, watch anime, play xbox, runescape, racquetball, go swimming and find some blow off PE class to take this summer like yoga or core strengthening. Yup, that about covers it. |

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on outlook) I broke my ankle at the end of February, which required a bone graft and adding a plate and screws. So I'll most likely be doing some physical therapy for the latter summer months. On a bright note, I won't have to work, will still get paid, and have plenty of time to read and watch anime. |
