I like Ramleh! I think Ramleh is the best! Don't care for Merzbow.

Probably the greatest noise track ever made!

Edit. Actually now I'm into Hijokaidan and Hanatarash!

That Ramleh track was quite good.

I only listen to a little bit of harsh noise really (I'm much more into noise rock type stuff), my top 3 are probably, Merzbow, Hanatarash, and The Gerogerigegege.:

If you're interested in noise music, I'd also recommend the documentary "We Don't Care About Music Anyway". It follows around various Japanese noise artists.

Also, since were talking about noise music here, I'm sure many of you are familiar with 非常階段 (Hijoukaidan). They recently did a joint band with an idol group called BiS that was pretty great. It's one of those things that I am just happy existed:

On top of that they cover a song from 戸川純 (Togawa Jun), one of the most influential singers in Japanese music. I'm getting slightly off topic because it's not really harsh noise anymore (though Togawa Jun also has a version with Hijoukaidan)

"Surprise is an insubstantial blade, a sword worthless in war. It breaks when troops rally, it snaps when commanders hold the line, but fear never fades. So let the enemy know we come, let their fears defeat them as everything falls dark, as the worlds sun sets, as the city is wreathed in its final night. Let ten thousand howls promise ten thousand claws. The Night Lords are coming, and no soul that stands against us shall see another dawn"

If you're into Hijokaidan listen to their 30 CD, 27-hour noise compilation: THE NOISE. It spans their entire career and it's fucking incredible. I've only listened to a few discs so far but god damn.

The whole genre was just a dare. "Throbbing Gristle/Whitehouse is pretty extreme, but WHAT IF..."

It's not bad or anything, just samey, in a therapeutic sort of way.

Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music gets seniority points over the Japanese stuff.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful but was that supposed to make me cringe because it worked.

I think Russolo takes the cake.

Metal Machine music wasn't very good though. Hanatarash 3 on the other hand is a masterpiece!
