Slice of life is a good way to just sit back and relax and watch some of your favorite characters live out their fictitious lives.

The first SOL anime that make me fall in love with this genre is chibi Maruko-Chan and crayon shin-chan ( My childhood memories ) ^_^

That's a really good question. Slice of Life is not in my top genres but i like it cause. It have made cry and staff like that. Clannad was 1st from this run.

Yeah, but mostly to Japanese school life. Sometimes I wish that my school life looked the way as shown in anime ~

Like i said earlier, although i like and am able to enjoy every genre, in recent years i found my self gravitating more and more towards Slice of Life genre. I believe it is because i started to marute, (and there is corelation between maturing and inclination to SoL genre, that has been observed too many times to be denied). But reall,y why do i personalyl like SoL so much? Idunno. :3 I guess it makes me work harder, since most of SoL is centered around high school students, most of the time who are trying to "do their best" or "work hard!", while dealing with everyday problems and disappointments. And when i see them, i'll often think "Why shouldnt I work as hard as they? It's not like i am untalented, or unable. Let's do it!" Or something like that :D It's not just a motivation, tho. Motivation is not even a half of pool of reasons i like SoL, it's just most clear and best descriable by words of them all, others (like 70% of them) are rather... subconsious, i guess :D

My first SoL was Anohana.. So... yep. Feels...

I do have friends but they're moved so we can't see each other that much also the school settings in SoL anime are so unrealistic even japanese school girls admit it maybe there are a few exceptions but exceptions are always there

I watch them for entertainment. Unfortunately, because they don't do much aside from the pure entertainment value, I have trouble justifying them on my highly regarded anime list. Still, shows like Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star, and Idolm@ster really go beyond the typical slice of life for me and I put them a step above the rest. Apparently Aria is considered one of the best of all time, so I'm certainly open minded of giving a slice of life higher than an 8/10 in the future ; )

99% of the people I am asking here on MAL about which anime world they would like to live in answer Aqua / Neo Venezia. The charm of the setting alone makes this series so unique ~

I agree that a full-blown countryside setting is not the best thing for city people to consider living in. But for someone like me who's been raised in a village, a setting as in NNB is better than a generic city basically any time!

I like it because I can watch any random episode whenever I'm bored instead of getting immersed in plots that are completely blown out of proportion although those can be nice sometimes too. The first one I really liked was Azumanga Daioh.

Yup I would. I've always been living in big cities so the thought of living in a more quiet, detached and relaxing place is very pleasing to my eyes. Yes it would probably take time to adapt but it'd be very rewarding in the long run.

It's not that i wouldnt want to try Japanese country life, (make no mistake - what you saw in NNB isint anything like rural life in Europe) but i am kinda scared by few things. Especially the thought of missing a but and need to wait 2 hours for next... O.o While it might be peasefull and quiet, even the locals them slefs call such places "inconvinient"

Punctuality has always been a very important issue in my life, so missing busses won't happen too soon! And I would probably prefer the bike or walking in the rural areas if my daily walking distance isn't any longer than 10 kilometres altogether.

Well missing a bus or something of the like is on your part haha. I'm a very punctual person like Xiaraith so that wouldn't really be a problem for me. It's all about adaptation.

Missing the bus isint really the issue. It's tge general lack of mobility.

Eh, it's not like all remote countryside settings are miles away from any greater town or city. And as I said, if you are fond of either bikinig or walking activities, the lack of mobility won't even bother you ~

Well, the setting of NNB was pretty specific about that, it was pretty cut off from the rest of the world, the closest convinience store is like 10 trainstations away :3
But, sure, if you were raised like that, then it must feel natural to you :) , and i can really see the beauty of peacefull laid-back life, but that kinda life isint always easy, just look at the "Candy Lady", she's always low on money, due to lack of buiseness.

Because my childhood was nowhere near as normal as anyone else's. It lets me imagine what my life could've and would've been if the choices I made and the choices that were made for me were the right ones or at the least bit humanely proper.

The very first SoL that I've watched was Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko (HenNeko) so I think that pulled me closer to the genre.
Sometimes, I face up before I sneeze and let spit shower my face.
Just me things.

Yes indeed, there are other things to be appreciated, things that appear "boring" to those who live a life of partying and action.
And if you've even got a special person next to you who also enjoys these little things, you don't need to visit certain other places at all.

I like SoL because there aren't many genres out there that are as grounded as SoL. SoL simply expresses my desire to see normal life depicted on the screen. Of course, there are some fantastic things that occur in SoL that will never happen in my life (getting the ladies is one that I can think of) but that's what makes SoL so appealing.

Absolutely! I'll always watch SoL so no need to worry about that. :)

SoL sometimes depicts other people's lives but also some stories are my stories. When I do encounter those stories, those shows become my favourite!
