They didn't focus much on the psychological changes the characters (should) go through as I'd thought they would. Kinda dissapointing.

Was the revelation about the MC not shocking enough?! Was the absolutely turmoil Yoko went through not enough depth!?

There's no pleasing some people!

No, that's not really depth at all. One is a forgettably predictable plot device and the other is a contrived exposition dump. I love Ajin as an action series, but that's all it is.
This is man's ultimate fighting machine. The synthetic life form know as Evangelion, Unit 01. Built here in secret, it is mankind’s last hope.

I said I love it as an action series, not that it was one. The theme is clear and it's also very poorly executed and explored.

Oh, may bad, I misunderstood your post then.
I like Ajin for the basic theme, though I agree its not explored enough. Earlier on (maybe in march 2015 when i made that post lmao) it had a lot of promise but its not really questioning what it means to be human anymore, just Sato being an absolute madman.

I usually like seinen dark series with psychological stuff , but this series kinda disappoint me . I feel this series really isn't too explored enough and inconsistent, despite having better potential than this .Probably it could be the effect of the author's withdrawal from vol 2 onwards.

I never really thought of this series as something thats supposed to be too psychological. Kei as a main character makes a change from most other things and I think it does a good job at telling the story and what the characters are like whilst keeping it interesting.

I do agree that the sudden change with the creators did effect it though.
