| This was weird episode... in a good way ofc :D Mahjong part got me lost as I don't know anything about it. I did catch the akagi reference tho as I have watched a couple of episodes of it. Was as lost in that anime too. |

| People have already mentioned the Akagi references, but I just love how much attention they pay to the introduction of Akagi/Akage. Akage comes into the room randomly wet, but iirc Akagi went inside the gambling room to "hide from rain" and came in wet too. As someone who's played a lot of mahjong in the past, this ep was really enjoyable (though I wished mahjong was that easy to win haha, you sadly can't bs games like they showed but then again it's anime). A good first 50 episodes, can't wait for the rest. |

| I unfortunately don't play Mahjong, so I didn't find the Mahjong portion to be really funny, but regardless, I still enjoyed this episode It was interesting to learn that Kanbei was apparently cheating when he was gambling in the Kabuki District Casino, and then they were going to get killed, unless if they managed to beat Akage. I wasn't able to understand what was happening that well during the Mahjong match, but I can say for sure that I found it really funny that Gintoki, Hasegawa, and Kanbei became butt naked, and then they were able to make Akage butt naked and beat him as well Overall, I enjoyed this episode, definitely excited to see what's next! |

| Almost done with the ''bad'' part of Gintama. I heard that after episode 50, Gintama actually gets good. But imo, Gintama's good since the beginning. Most of the episodes were comedic while there were some emotional and serious moments. But only a few. I'm liking every character so far. The shenseigum is one of my favorites. Kagura, Shinpachi and Gintoki are a wonderful and funny duo. Their bond is strong and I'm looking forward to see more of them. The animation is average but It's good for a 2006 anime. The OST is pretty lively and fun. Opening and Ending songs so far were good. Hopefully, the next ones will be even better. Ranking Arcs so far: 1. Umiboze Arc 2. Memory Loss Arc 3. Harusame Arc 4. Gengai Arc 5. Rengokukan Arc Ranking characters so far (main) 1. Kagura 2. Gintoki 3. Shinpachi Hijikita, Kondo and the rest are also very likeable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ep 3-49 = (8/10) |

| Contrary to what you may think, knowing Mahjong's rules doesn't really matter to the episode, just think of the game as Asian Poker using tiles. Knowing the rules doesn't matter since the characters were just declaring winning hands, skipping the process of building the hands themselves. |

| Nice episode even if I don't know a lot about Mahjong, the way Gintoki used his foot at the end was funny. But him telling Hasegawa about the old man with the scythe was the best part. |
