| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- It is very important to clearly point out the difference between: - Episode 1 of the 4-episode OVA series which followed the 13-episode "Comic Party" 2001 TV series ( which is the topic of this thread ) versus - Episode 1 of the 13-episode TV series, "Comic Party Revolution" (2005) ( There is a separate MAL forum for the 2005 TV series. ) These are extremely similar, and the basic story is the same. The OVA is five minutes longer than the 2005 TV series episode. After a careful scene-by-scene comparison, I didn't see much of interest. They found lots of places to cut out four minutes (not 5) from the OVA episode. Then, after the end of the closing credits, there was 90 seconds of extremely random stuff. Some of it seemed like it might be outtakes. They showed rough character designs. There was some vague description of Volume 2 of the OVA series. Basically, nothing exciting to look at. By comparison, after the closing credits of the TV episode, there was a 30-second preview for Episode 2 of the TV series. I would not say that Volume 1 of the OVA is a "must-watch" for those people who have seen Volume 1 of "Comic Party Revolution". But more enthusiastic fans might be interested to look through and notice the four minutes of material which had been edited out. Still other people might want want to look closely at the 90 seconds of strange stuff and try to make sense of it. |
