It seems every barber or hair stylist I go to just messes up with my hair. I even give clear instructions or a picture and it ends up nothing like it.

Thankfully my hair grows fast but I just want a nice haircut for once.

I shave it myself. I can't be bothered to pay £10 and sit in a chair for like 30 minutes

I used to think like that as well, until I went to a really trusted one, and they told me that the haircut I wanted wouldn't look as good on me, so they suggested something that would look even better, and I thought why not

Best hair cut I ever got

I usually use the person whos worked the longest or highest position but problem is they often leave so you lose them. Also best to come on a day they arent busy. I think they intentionally cut hair too short to stop you from asking to fix anything so they can go to next person quicker. Im tempted to learn how to cut my own.

It's hard to find a good barber, but once you do and establish a good relationship then it's smooth sailing for a long time.

Usually the people in the photos have had their hair professionally styled before the photo is taken. You can have your hair cut to the same length, but ultimately it's down to yourself to style it in the way it appears in the photograph.
Unless you pay a stylist to do it for you.

I just learned how to style it the way I like it.

When you consider many hairdressers are high school dropouts there's no wonder why they can't give a good haircut.

This.

Also, I make sure I am with a stylist compared to a normal hairdresser. I have been with the same guy for many years now and he has never failed once to give me an amazing haircut. It's also best when they are really experienced.

go to a reputable hair stylist or studio, no $10 hair cuts. (I've had good haircuts at cheap places but it's like playing russian roulette). Bring pictures of the hair style you want and show them what you want

one thing to remember is sometimes your face aesthetics if more important than the hair style. a few years ago I was probably 20 lbs overweight and could never accomplish "the look" that I desired. Once my body fat % dropped and I have a jawline, visible cheekbones etc. almost any hair cut looks good now. just some food for thought

Man, it's so intimidating walking into or making an appointment with an actual hair salon/studio/whatever. Best hair cut I had was at my friend's family friend's place, and it was honestly just... okay. It was decent ;_;

Its probably good to not mix up barbers and hair stylists and hairdresser. As their skillsets are slanted different.

I used to be like this until I visited a good barbers around Christmas. Quite liked what they did with my hair to be honest so I guess it's about finding the right place.

One of the worst moments in your life. Barbers experimenting with your hair.
Urgh. I don't want to even think about it.

Maybe they get annoyed when the customer demands something. There are people like that.

*checks your profile and sees youre a girl (or pretending to be one)* what the heck are you doing at a barbers? They specialize in buzz cuts and shaving heads, unless that is what you wanted. Did they give you a side shave with tramlines or something?

I have my hair trimmed down on the sides with a little on top to style a faux hawk. Kinda my signature style but it's too long for it right now.

Three methods

1. Lower your expectations and be less self conscious

2. Go to a expensive high quality barber

3. Do it yourself

Longer hair look better on me but for some odd reason my mom can't stand them. I have to cut them regardless of the chimpanzee I look like after getting my hair cut. Short hair don't look good on me. So I always go in prepared for a disappointment.

I met this one guy once on this one website once and he was like "I'm a stylist for VIPS, you need a haircut?"

And i was like.. "I do!"

Turned out he just wanted to screw, but he did do my hair. And it looked pretty fabulous.

So, that's always an option.

Its efficient to have a barber in our place. just $1 if you convert it to dollars. You can ask from your barber what look is good, especially if the barber is your friend.
