| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The events here are applicable as allegory to the Berlin Wall specifically even as it's about conflict and imposed division in general. The political ideas are more subtle and nuanced than in the handful of other Tezuka adaptations I've seen where I thought they were blunt and simplistic. Hyakkimaru's heart-quavering encounter with his mother is all the more interesting coming after a spate of macho sword-fighting and dashing around. |
| The music in that reunion was just beautiful. Speaking of music, they are really nailing it in this Anime. |
| Sad reunion of Hyakkimaru and his mom, not so much for his brother and dad though who are hunting him down... The Banmon in this really reminds me of the berlin wall compared to the remake that didn't really reminded me to that historical event. |

| This episode is one of those that illustrate vividly the cruelties of war. I felt so irritated seeing what Sukeroku has gone through! |
