Fai before episode 9: Perfect adaption so far.

Fai after episode 9: They forgot to add one scene about projection. This will be the flop of the year.

Seriously, you can count anime only viewers who GOT that Shirou is provoking and trolling Rin intentionally, on one hand.

Of course. Forgive me for not knowing that you've conducted an extensive poll of every single anime-only viewer who is currently watching the show and tallied their responses.

I observed majority of forums and communities on the internet, as well as most of live reaction videos.

It is STILL perfect adaptation.

And I am not saying anything new. These complaints I stated in Ep1 and Ep0 threads already, you can check.

Yeah I can't find the room to care too much potential asspull perceptions, all capacity spent rejoicing in the presence of monologues and Shirou character probing. I'm more worried about how the exploration of Shirou's character will be executed than anything, and so far I feel like a lot of steps are being carefully taken to set up some really great second cour episodes. The slight flaws are popping up a bit more frequently, but just imagine the payoff we're going to get once things culminate.

I guess on the bright side, we won't get more of that "TOTALLY F/Z SEQUEL" bullshit, if they continue making it pure UBW route.

This episode already has fuel for that fire of bullshit sadly...

Where? I really didn't notice anything that could be perceived as 'nods' that wasn't in the VN.

I suggest you save the criticisms for the BD version.

They have to cut a lot of things due to the time restriction.

Innocuous scenes like the sleeping and eating do serve a purpose. They help the audience come to like Shirou and the other main characters more. Furthermore, the Emiya household is probably one of the most peaceful, loveable homes in all of anime. I honestly love the atmosphere of the household in the VN.

Relating and empathsizing with the characters is one of the most important aspects of storytelling. Don't discredit it.

You should stop caring what they think since at this point it's blatantly obvious they've made up their minds.

Things that help audience to like Shirou: SHirou being competent, Shirou being snarky badass, Shirou snarking and trolling Rin.

Things that DO NOT help audience to like Shirou and only make them think he is dull: Eating.

Other than that I didn't notice anything blatant seeming other than maybe Saber inquiring about Kerry, but that doesn't amount to much.

It's good that you've also done an extensive poll of the entire audience to confirm these facts as well. Ignoring the conversations that happen during that time, such as confirming that the students will be ok, giving a reason to visit the Matou household later, and setting up the episode ending monologue through Saber's questioning, it is clear that the eating scenes were simply WASTED because we desperately need foreshadowing right now or the whole thing is RUINED.

Seems like they're doing the bare minimum, but I was glad to see Shirou's internal dialogue at the end.

Them eating was only to setup that scene, so I don't have a problem with it.

I could care less about that when that comes at the cost of Shirou's development, who is the MAIN FOCUS of this story.

I do not watch this to be "Tohsaka and Seiba: The Show"

I watch this because it is "Tohsaka and Shirou: The Show"

This is another good point. Secondary characters are worthless in comparison to the main characters. Of course, we are still ignoring how it works as a natural lead in to the exact Shirou development that is supposed to be so important. Who needs that?

Those were the side things that caught my attention this episode. The main thing was the talk about Kiritsugu. It really reminded me of why I like Unlimited Blade Works: there's no deeper meaning to any of this. It's just a story about a boy with the dream of becoming a Hero of Justice, but as far as fantasy/magic/action stuff goes, I really enjoy how UBW gets it to work. A simple story told many times before and will continue to be told, but at least in this instance, it's done in a way that greatly focuses on the idea itself, rather than the fluff around it.

It's the same road traveled, but at a different pace, from a different approach, and with heavier steps.

It really is kind of funny how unsafe that church is. Rather than a safe zone, it's been used as a battlefield and now a re-arming station haha.

Just watched the episode and honestly, it was one of the more enjoyable non-action packed ones, and was frankly way better than last week's.
Here the conversations flowed more naturally, exposition about Shirou's ideals didn't seem like it came out of nowhere, the chemistry between Shirou and Rin was great in that it totally had that feel that I got the first time I read UBW;

Jouji finally woke the fuck up from his half-assed performance in back episode 1 and gave us back the glorious creep that we all know and love. I mean, need I even say that Shinji's ass the whole Church scene was perfect from start to finish? Those facial expressions, man. Those motherfucking facial expressions;

ShinjixIssei was even more hilarious than how I'd remember it from the VN. Matter of fact, I find myself laughing quite a few times throughout the episode, but I didn't really feel like any of the scenes we got were a waste of time.

I also really, really liked how the last scene was handled and the way Shirou just withdrew from the conversation after Saber asked him that very tough question and left the table without a word: sometimes you don't need much to convey important information on a character. I liked it: it wasn't heavy-handed, and didn't seem out-of-place.

Now let's see what we get next episode.

only apply to the eating scenes with Saber that you don't like, rather than the ones you do.

So, taken correctly, your complaint is aimed at the earlier eating scene where the status of the students is fully resolved and the motivation to go by the Matou household is planted, as well as the scene showing where Saber sleeps and that Shirou is still not particularly comfortable with it, even though it was a compromise?

Slow episode, but that's to be expected; this part was slow for me in the visual novel as well. Everyone's laughing at how Shirou stripped Issei, but as a VN player, I can only think of THAT scene... you know, where in the visual novel, you were given the choice to either strip Issei or ask him directly, and if you had asked Issei directly... DUN DUN DUN!

Actually, now that I think about it, it was a nice touch when Rin asked Shirou right before about that option. It was the most obvious, direct, no-brainer question to ask Issei, so Rin shot it down immediately. It avoided the whole issue of "well why didn't Shirou just ask" and justified the stripping scene in one move.

As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.
