| Insanely intense episode, and to think all they are really doing is sitting down playing a card game:) I loved how Kaiji's facial expressions were animated in this episode - if his face doesn't scream to you "I'm pretty fucked up right now" I don't know what would... It was also nice to see one of the nameless black suits caring about what happens to Kaiji :P |
| One of most intensive episodes. This ep gave me same kind feeling like on ep 14 or 15(cant remember) when people started to fall from beam. I think e-card will probably end in next episode. Kaiji gets to keep his ear and wins 3 million. |

If you only bet money, you won't be in as much despair as if you bet an ear, since you can always earn more money but you can't grow back another eardrum. |

| I thought for sure Kaiji was going to win when he bet 10mm on the slave side but this show always goes down the path I do not predict. This was arguably the most tense episode yet since this show displays emotions unlike any I've seen before in anime. I can actually feel Kaiji's pain, hopelessness, and fear. That is what makes it so tense and that is why it is unequaled in the world of anime at this point. This show outclasses everything in just about every field right now. I'm still freaked out by episode 18. |

| Whatever everyone here said, I believe the real problem is not of the bets Kaiji chose, but something else: he is exposing himself too much! Tonegawa's stoic calm and ability to observe Kaiji's thoughts are anything but abnormal; with enough experience, in Tonegawa's words, anyone can master their arts. In other words, Kaiji showed too much emotion here, making it easy for Tonegawa to hit his blind spots. At this rate, Kaiji will lose the match -- unless he learns to control his emotions and fear in a niche of seconds. |

| it took kaiji 20mm to see the obvious? even i was able to think of some of kaijis thoughts, its not so very hard. also they explain too much im a big fan of phsychologic anime but this ... i dont know |

| Well, that was quite a bad episode. If anything made the first card game interesting were those somewhat imaginative solutions to the various problems Kaiji was facing. E-Card is way too simple and it's getting painful to see him making such terrible decisions everytime. I mean, it is not that hard to bet the proper amount on the first place. And then you have all the non-subtle revelations - actually pretty common for the show -, both from Kaiji's monologues (that are really getting stupid), Tonegawa's side (preachy to a fault) and the very same narrator stressing the needle and potentially destroyed ear everytime. Alright, we got it. Stop repeating stuff we should have understood already for the hundredth time, it won't build any more suspense/tension. |

| Why didn't you bet for 9mm instead ;-; He's reading Kaiji like an open book and he did the most reckless move possible, forcing him to have to win at least a single game against the experienced Tonegawa. His face shows real despair and I pity what will happen to his eardrum if it keeps up like this. Auditory destruction being shown multiple times in the episode was cruel and unusual. |

| this is just nuts...this anime is crazy addictive, i've even forgot to post my thoughts here lol but the fact that he wagered 10mm with the slave was just dumb...basically he just put himself into this situation 5/5 |
