Too bad it will be crappy cgi, I mean you can get used to and accept the cgi and just watch the show as it is but still dont change the fact that it looks like shit, hope they will do it the right way and make it 2d atleast for blame but that more than likely will never happen which is a damn shame

Am I reading this right? They are animating a manga in the Sidonia no Kishi movie?

I'm also kinda confused though. What does it mean by "within a movie"? Does this mean that Blame! and Sidonia will be part of a single movie?

Yes. Blame! is part of the Sidonia no Kishi recap movie.

Is "within the movie" bad phrase to use? It is written 劇中アニメ化 in Japanese, which means animated "within" (inserted).

Hmmm... wonder why not just give Blame! its own movie... Great news anyway.

Might as well get ryan gosling to be the lead if that's the case. I've only read a little bit of blame but the manga was overdrawn for me (too much going on before people get the wrong idea).

I loved Drive *shrug*

Have you seen only god forgives? God maybe able to forgive that movie, but I definitely cannot.

I'm fully expecting BLAME to be a 5 minute CGI segment within Sidonia to avoid setting myself up for disappointment.

I'd expect them to go above and beyond to nail Blame's atmosphere. A series so void of dialogue deserves some immersive sound work.

Very hyped that we get any Blame! at all but also confused. I hope they justice to it even if it is a 5 minute short anime, considering the immense setting and atmosphere. Maybe they will even announce an adaption if it is well received, hopefully. If it is watchable.

I can't wait for this. Knights of Sidonia was one of my favorite anime from this year. Definitely top 5 of 2014 for me personally. I'm waiting for season 2 with anticipation.

The January issue of Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Tsutomu Nihei's Blame! manga will be animated within Sidonia no Kishi: Dai-kyū Wakusei Seneki (Knights of Sidonia: War of the Ninth Planet), the second Knights of Sidonia anime season. The second Knights of Sidonia season will premiere next April in the Animeism programming block, and the character Tsumugi will "appear at last." Hiroyuki Seshita, the assistant director of the first season, is replacing Kobun Shizuno as the director of the second season at POLYGON PICTURES, and Sadayuki Murai is returning to be in charge of the series scripts.

I don't know how to actually respond to the BLAME! news.

On the one hand, in the Sidonia manga there were indeed times where the characters were watching films that were eerily similar to BLAME! and Biomega (but actually different) and this was just one of the many troll moments Nihei put in there (including this page http://bato.to/read/_/248713/sidonia-no-kishi_v9_ch42_by_habanero-scans), on the other, I'm wondering if the creators of the anime are using this to whet your appetites for a full BLAME! series. If its the first - you took the trolling a bit too far guys. If its the second - damn it I don't want BLAME! to receive the Sidonia treatment. That manga deserves much, much more! It will be catastrophic if we see a by the numbers dumbed down adaptation like Sidonia...I'll cry. I'll cry a lot.

Though I cant lie, that little PV got my blood boiling from excitement :D

Edit: I also find it funny how they misspelled Killy's name in the PV's subtitles.

Blame will probably be a 1 episode special or something.

I am thinking they are testing the waters for BLAME adaptation.

After all BLAME is far less "safe" to adapt than SIDONIA.

So after S2 of SIDONIA they can air BLAME anime while SIDONIA catches up.

Then test BIOMEGA same way and do BIOMEGA anime.

Then it would have made more sense to go for Biomega first since its again more easily adaptable than BLAME! (which in my opinion is impossible to adapt without destroying it in the process).

Yes, it does, but what if they adapt Biomega, insert another BLAME! episode, and then go with BLAME!

I couldn't get that "as a part of anime" but every story of Nihei is connected to each other maybe Tsumugi, Tanikaze, Izana and Yuhata will watch Blame! as a movie but anyways they should make the movie i want cause its epic!

I don't know how much of Blame! they plan to adapt. They can safely much skip most of the story up to the point

But after that, if they end it early, they're only going to be leaving a bunch of unanswered questions. IMO it'd be better to do Netsphere Engineer as an original and run bits of Blame for backstory purposes.

TBH, I didn't really enjoy Biomega. Compared to Blame and Sidonia, it felt more like an expendable action flick.
