Dont' say WataMote... she's not actually ugly. Actually never mind, I think a show with a cute girl who thinks she's ugly and has low self esteem would be really funny... So do reccomend that

However I'm looking for a show revolving around female protagonist, who's either fat, or just not cute. I'd want her to have a cute personality, but not good looks. Of course this isn't the norm and shouldn't be. Anime should be filled with big breasted, unrealistic, thin, beautiful girls with big eyes and exaggerated features and personalities.... but it'd be interesting to see an anime about a girl who's not attractive, and struggles with body insecurities... at a minimum it'd be funny.

Tenshi 1/2 is a manga about a girl who has chapped lips, and is really insecure about it.

In Japan its actually more unrealistic for people to be fat, with only 3.5% of the total population (and some of them need it for their job), compared to USA, 35.3%.

No, I'm a perverted man who loves seeing hot, over-exaggerated anime girls, gets off on yuri, and loves girls of all shapes and sizes.

However, I'm also curious of what the anime world has to offer. And would like to see something interesting I've never seen before

When I said unrealistic, I just mean so attractive that it defies the norm.

There is one in Genshiken but shes introduced after the first season. I dont consider her ugly. She just has lower features compared to the others. In Genshiken Nidaime her fat female friend is introduced but only appears in few episodes.
There might be two in Kuragehime.
http://myanimelist.net/character/62613/Reika_Saionji Not sure if she has enough screen time.

no need to make personal assumptions on OP, seriously.

Howl's moving castle. protagonist is a old hag with white hair.

If I was really a fat ugly girl, I'd be using PC terms like, "Plus sized" instead of fat. Or instead of using the word ugly I'd say "Facially different"

Well, living goddesses, are the norm in Japan.

A unattractive woman in Japan, is more like a myth, then something that could actually exist.
