| This is an old anime right? Shouldn't this thread have already been posted? Anyway, don't remember episode 1 (or any for that matter). It's been so long since I've seen this anime. I don't think I even watched the whole series then. That was back before I really got into anime. I chose 4/5 though cause I had to have liked the first episode to watch more. (or maybe it was just because I was bored and EVA on VHS was all I had to watch) |

| Just watched the first episode, 4/5 for me, though Shinji is annoying me. If I found outt, that after a yearlong absence my father simply called me to him to use me in a possibly life-threatening battle I would have turned right around and would have never spoken to my father again :p |

| lol I'm watching this for the first time too. Bringing some 13 year old kid who has been abandoned by his father to fight some huge ass alien that's immune to nukes in a living giant robot is not a very good back up plan. His father's a dick, too. "I only called you because I needed you!" I'd punch him. Cool visuals, looking forward to the next eps. |

| I hear a lot of praise about this series. First episode was kind of meh for me, but a lot of first episodes are like that just to get the gist of the series out on the table. Also watching it dubbed and am not too impressed so far. |

| Wow this turned out to be better than I have expected. I can't believe I didn't watch this just because at first I thought that the animation sucks since it's an old Anime. My thoughts have changed after I saw this episode. Hope it continues to deliver this excitement throughout the series. Okay so we get an apocalyptic atmosphere in the first episode. Aliens, aka Angels, seems to be invading Earth and the army couldn't stop it. Heck they even used a tactical nuke but it did nothing. The only way to stop these Angels is to rely on Nerv and their Evangelions but not everyone can drive Evangelions. Only the chosen ones can, and one of them is Shinji. I see, very interesting plot. I'm looking forward to this. Also looking forward to the other chosen ones. Oh and Shinji's father is a faggot. |

| I have a feeling the physiological battles that Shinji is going to face is going to be the highlight of this anime. The mecha...eh. I have never enjoyed the mecha for this series at all. Art is amazing. Exactly the kind of stuff I love. |

| Rewatching this series, it really has been years! Great first episode! The angels truly are very scary! Also, unlike popular opinion, I really like Shinji as a character and don't find him annoying at all. He's angst-y with reason. |

| I was expecting a little more ''umph'' out of the first episode. But, the progression kept everything moving and the anime didn't fall short on a good opening. I'm hoping for some good story progression within the next few episodes! I can't believe I haven't watched this anime yet. I've heard so much about it, too. Looking forward to the next! |

| Quite nice start I must say, I normally don't watch mech anime because I'm not an all to big fan for them, but this one got recommended to me so lets have a look if it can entertain me or not! For this first episode it wasn't all to bad, I do need to keep in mind that it's rather an old anime so I can't judge to much on art and animation so mostly this will rely on story for me! Lets see how everything goes, the cliffhanger was nice lets see who'll win! |

| NGE wasn't praised for nothing episode 1 was just great. Thoughts from episode 01: Nice how apocalyptic is already been introduced here like those angels and nuke's a lot of explosions in this episode also. Hopefully they are going to explain everything about Shinji's past and Ikari Gendo. Gendo seems really interesting character here. Now it's nice to see this is set in 2015 but are they going to tell us about anything what happened in before Angels came to earth. Also what does definition "Third Chosen Child" mean when Misato said that to Shinj.i Is he maybe the third one who has ever controlled Evangelion. This is mystery now. So NERV is secret organization whose been fighting Angels for a long time now I suppose. and commander of the Organizarion is Shinji's father Gendo. I like Gendo's sunglasses pretty beast. EVA-01 or Evangelion really interesting mecha robot. So they have some kind of soul on them. And they don't work if they aren't plugged to power supply. That bubble thing water or some kind of slim was really weird inside of it. Now what I can tell from Shinji in this episode. He had very bad relationship with his father. Obviously because Shinji's father wasn't home always. Maybe he had motive or something for it. We don't now anything about Shinji's mom yet. Shinji first didn't want to pilot the evangelion because he was afraid that thing. But when Rei Ayanami mysterious girl showed up. He didn't want Rei to pilot the evangelion in sick. So that's why he decided to change his mind because of Rei. We can call this character development here too. Now that Misato girl. I like his character it's lively and childish one too. But gotta just love how he is trying to tease Shinji a little bit. Animation is old but I like it it's like DBZ art style. Voice actors are ok too. I don't so much like Shinji's voice actor. Overall now idea who is going to win Angel vs Eva this is going to be interesting. Ending song was just laughable. |
