I don't get why it was the slightest bit worth watching.

Well considering I was waiting a good two years to finally see this, I was a little disappointed at the length. Still enjoyed it though, the end makes me think there could be some sort of continuation, which would be nice ... but we'll see what becomes of that I suppose.

Uh oh. I think I expected something... deeper. It is disappointing that this is nothing but nice animation, lack of music and strange plot. Not even close to the Shinkai Makoto and Yoshiura Yasuhiro works. Although it is awesome for one man. 7/10

So, there is going to be a full-length movie, right? Maybe it'll be better.

...What the hell? This seemed quite promising, it's sad to find out that it was as random, bad, and ridicolous as FLCL (maybe even worse).
The art is pretty bad, the monsters are incredibly ugly, the characters are lifeless, uninteresting, and idiotic, the plot is non-existent, the ending song is stupid and slutty, the whole thing is boring as hell (even the voice actors sound like they just woke up). I'd like to know how could something like this win an award, and also why is it considered a movie, lasting only 26 minutes.
I lol'd at the giant yellow pudding, anyway, this sucked.

Considering that what we've got here is a roughly 25min movie, made by à single person, this was awesome : D
I can't believe I've waited this long to watch it : o
And for all the goodness that is iPod Touch, it's clearly not made to write comments with, so I'll end this here ^^;
Anyway, great movie, let's bump the thread so more people find out about it : D

I lol'd

Solid, quality film. Wish there were more like it around nowadays.

What I liked about this show were the monsters. Really creative idea.
And I do think the story could have easily been longer. It has potential.

I think this one is better left to those with imagination.

No, it's not FLCL. It might have a vaguely similar feel in some regards, but where that series is rife with Freudian symbolism, Japanese social commentary, coming-of-age via Looney Tunes kinetics, etc., Cencoroll is simply a bit of a mystery — the empty-headed will whine about this, while others will find it enticing. It's kind of like a minimalistic and bizarre Pokémon/Evangelion hybrid, or something... and yes, I think it hints at the kind of weirdness found in Alien Nine.

I'm totally intrigued, and I want more.

While in retrospect the movie was a bit disappointing after rewatching the 2007 trailer, this concept would make a fantastic series. I think I'm more pumped about what could be done with the basic concepts in the future than about what was actually in the movie. Definitely got that Narutaru/Alien 9 feel, oddly horrific and cool monster design + kids who might be too immature to handle that much power.

Wishful thinking to get something like what a continued Narutaru anime might have been ;___;?

I like the ending of the song. Even if it was only one episode and it was short, I really enjoyed it:D 8/10 from me. It's fun to watch. I don't really enjoy FLCL but I enjoyed this.

Some of the "disappointed" comments on here are hilarious.

This was a ONE MAN SHOW, an artist hustling for work. Every living legend had humble beginnings and this one here is extraordinary all things considered.

It looks like Evangelion with Nakahara Misaki from Welcome to the NHK instead of Ayanami Rei and hippopotamus instead of Eva.

Posts: 3121 do people give this 9's and 10's when its so freaking short? Music was the best part of the show, the story is insanely 1/2 assed, you don't even know what this is all about.

Sure its all 'implied' but for a fantasy sci-fi OVA, it leaves absolutely nothing to be explained. Other than they have cool marshmellows that can shapeshift into practically anything and the users have radio antennas on their head. Big fat monster falls out of the sky and it takes the military a whole DAY to decide to attack it? What are they aliens? time travellers? expermients? Some sort of VR game?

To many holes to give this a great. Action was OKAY nothing fast paced... just alot of kirby-esque fighting. "I'm gunna eat you!" NO! Im gunna eat you!! NOM NOM... lot of that considering the 20 minute time frame. IT DID, however, pull me into the idea of the series, if became an actual tv series i'd give it a shot but for now, its just a:

5/10 (average)

EDIT: In my comments section for this anime, I called this OVA "Pokemon meets FLCL aimed toward a seinen crowd"

Random, fast paced, dry humor, quick fighting, and plain characters all together makes a very irreisistable OVA. I liked it. It entertained me and put a smile on my face. The simple nature of Yuki was amazing. She was being held hostage and she's just sitting there, like, "I'm hungry." lol. I found her character along with all the others to be so calm and relaxed that I was falling in love.
BUT, 7 for lack of time and story plot :)

Confusing and weird but enjoyable. There just wasn't enough explanation behind all the monsters but considering one guy did the whole thing, it was pretty damn impressive.

Impressive for a one man project. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised since I wasn't much of a fan of Makoto Shinkai's Voices from a Distant Star project.

The lack of background music was actually a plus for me. I felt like it really added to the entire apathetic atmosphere that the visuals constructed. I liked the characters too. I was always a fan of the entire apathetic couple thing, though they just met.

Maybe it's just me but the ending song felt completely out of place. I discovered Cencoroll in the middle of watching Bakemonogatari and downloading its OST. I found LOVE & ROLL there and fell in love with it. Great image song but I did not expect the singer to be anywhere near how Yuki was. Was a bit disappointed to not hear "Theme of Cencoroll" anywhere in the OVA. What a great theme.

All in all, this is interesting and definitely has some potential. I for one am very glad that a sequel is confirmed.

I don't get it, why ppl rate it so low? is it because there is no plot/development-ass?

someone really need to get out of their "story before bed time"-kind of mentality

I liked the plot - but they didn't too much development in that short time. I would say that it's good that a sequel is coming out: I can't wait to see what happens next! They just should have made this into a show.

Oh I didn't know a second one has been announced. Seems like to be another of those short episodes unless I'm clueless. Cencoroll has been one of those anime that is more of 'concept for a series' than a standalone for me. The universe has potential and I would like it to fully realised.

This was really entertaining for me. I don't get why people are marking it down because they want to see more.

9/10 for me. You have to keep in mind that this was made by 2 people bar the seiyuus.

The nonchalant attitudes of the characters led to several humourous scenes while still maintaing a realistic feeling to it. The artstyle really appealed to me as it looked very detailed and naturalistic and along with a funky soundtrack it made this movie quite an enjoyable watch for me.
