How the tournament is gonna be set up
There will be teams of 2. Each team is gonna play vs every other team in 5 different maps. 1 point will be given if you win on a map. If you lose, you will not gain nor lose any points. The team with the most points after the last round wins the tournament.
The maps that will be played are as follows:
Round 1: Sniper Paintball
The first map to be played is Sniper Paintball (Pro version with a-click and without levelups)
In this map, the objective is to capture the enemy flag. All you get is one ghost who can be one shotted (50% if you are under a doodad like a tree).
Teamwork and vision are important aspects. Having a good accuracy and reflexes helps too because you can't attack enemy ghosts with attack move. You have to manually a+click on them.
Round 2: 2v2 micro training map
This is a simple 2v2 micro training map that I decided to use for the tournament. You win the game once you get enough points. Win a point by defeating the enemy team's army OR control the center for 45 seconds.
Round 3: Random Micro Challenge
Yes, it is another micro map. But this one is a little different. It focuses on teamwork and decision making. It is not as micro heavy as the other two but some levels are hard.
Round 4: Builders & Fighters [BO3]
We are finally done with the micro maps.
How does this map play out? Basically, there are two teams. Each team has builders and a fighter. (In this case it is one fighter and one builder of course).
The builder makes units and gives them to the fighter. He is basically the macro guy. The fighter handles upgrades and micro. This map is played in a BO3.
Round 5: Mini Starcraft [BO3]
The final round. Now I know a few people dislike this map but give it a chance. It is obviously quite different from normal sc and requires you to think differently. Play this map a few times and discuss strategies with your partner.
This map is played best of 3.
The reason I chose these maps are because;
1. They require more or less skill.
2. They have teamwork.
3. They are fun.
4. Simple and easy to learn.
Of course, I will give any team a map to let them practice it.
You get points for every game you win in BO3 rounds which means your team will get 2 points if you win round 4 and 2 points if you win round 5.
The rounds are played on iccup. When you want to play your round is entirely up to you.
All of the rounds do not have to be played in the same day. Simply play when both teams are online and have time. However, the deadline is one week.
If you have not finished your round within one week it'll be classified as walkover and the opponent team will win.
After the round is played, you report your win to me and send me the replay. You can not start the next round before every other team are done with their round.
The teams are decided in the same order as registrations but you can decide who you want to team up with.
If you have any map suggestions or something, tell me. These maps can be changed any time before the tour starts.
Registrations will close on friday the 30th. (This also means the tourney will start at the 30th)
