Cool @ Barakamon ED mini-album. I don't watch Akame ga Kill!, but the OP is nice. Single ver. for heavenly blue sells better than best album ver. again this week.

I'm disappointed to see a shit like Persona 4, Free and Gekkan in the top 4

On the other hand, I'm happy to see that Akame ga Kill! OP is selling good. Just hope the series itself sell well so we could get a 2nd season.

This may simply be a reflection of my ignorance, since I can't remember off the top of my head how much his series tend to sell, but I thought Watanabe Shinichirou had enough reputation to make this series sell around 3k at least. Well, I guess not, after all, Space Dandy's estimate is also low. Personally, it's a bit saddening to see Zankyou with such a poor sales estimate.

Yeah that's my favorite show of the season so sad the projections are that low. I just don't understand how a anime like Rail Wars can top it in sales.

5735 for a 2500 yen disc that includes a cover single of the most popular song in the Kagerou series sung by a popular VA shows how people really feel about it.

Anyway this season is basically just Aniplex exploits popular license y in terms of sales potential pretty much. They really do have almost a monopoly on almost all the popular licenses these days and continue to do such a mixed bag kind of half-assed job with them regardless of who gets to do the animation production the majority of the time, possibly cause they'll sell anyway and it's not worth funding or seeing that the effort gets put into them that much beyond the opening episodes. Anyway aside from maybe Pony Canyon with Free they're the only publisher with licenses popular enough with buyers too actually sell decent amounts. What's more kind of pathetic is that the only show they are publishing that feels any particularly consistently good at all is also by far their lowest estimated one in Zankyou no Terror though that's a noitaminA so it's no surprise. Actually in general the 2 better shows they're publishing which are both originals have the lower estimates which says a lot.

Locodol might be split cour if a second season were to happen. Aldnoah.Zero is one anime that really NEEDS split cour format.

I think that is only a western perspective because people here love Bebop and Samurai. Sakamichi no Apollon didn't do all that well either. Watanabe is not successful on his name alone.

High DVD sales do mean its more popular among females than males. For all we know its because of the event ticket. Just look at v2.

Why? Nozaki-kun is actually a shounen title... It is actually making fun of all things Shoujo. While I think it is probably enjoyable by all, there may be some people that find some of the jokes at the expense of shoujo manga to be in poor taste...

The rest of the album is also rather nice, not on Innocence's level though. But I sure as hell did not expect a screamo/emo album, that was unexpected. I think i'll import it for the barakamon ED.

A shame it sold so badly.

It's being co-serialized in both a Shounen and Shoujo magazine......... it's one of those Shounen made to appeal to females. Similar to stuff like Kuroko no Basket.

The Story is well written!
The animation(the used 3D is questionable though, but it gets better later), the character designs, the voice acting, the Background Music, the musics sang are all very good.
The main interest points of the series are well made too! By main interest points I mean, the Moe aspect of it and the Idol aspect of it.
In reality Love Live! Creates a cool and innovative way of Idol culture, the school Idol. I don't know if it existed before Love Live but certainly it wasn't that much known.

If you like Moe and Idol culture, than you will love Love Live. If you hate those things, than of course you will have a big problem with it, giving that is the center of the series.
Good points of it are also that it doesn't have the other two most used genres, and arguably worst, of the current anime industry: Harem and Ecchi.
The story, the pacing, the characters, the characters interactions and everything around the series is really, but really, well made.

Also note that the popularity of the series spiked in the second season due to the really successful mobile game and the popularity of the songs. In the first season the series was a really popular series, but a little higher than Free swim club popularity.

Japan has a huge obsession to idols, that's why. And the anime isn't that bad, watch until episode 3 or 4 i think. That's where it gets a lot better.

Well, we all know the saying by now: "Japan has shit taste". This is what happens when a medium thrives on niche products for strange people and teens alone.
I agree that Aniplex should put more effort in it, though. It#s sad seeing so much potential wasted.

I agree with this. I'm a long time fan of the series before the anime aired and even I recognize the anime as a pretty terrible adaptation. I used to want to buy each BD, but now I won't shell out 60 dollars for it, even if its licensed.

It kind of saddens me to see that there are still enough buying fans to make a profit out of MCA that might make Jin and Shaft think that what they had delivered to us was good.

Anyway, glad to see good predictions about Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun :) It's my favorite show of the season and I'd absolutely love it if it gets a second season and if the manga gets licensed. As for my second-favorite show of the season, Zankyou no Terror.... :'(

Isn't ZnT being heavily underestimated though? I might be wrong on that one but I remember seeing posts mentioning the possibility of the show selling much more than what is being predicted by Stalker.
For my sake too I want to believe that, to be frank. Otherwise the harsh reality would be that Japan once again proves its shitty taste.

I sure hope so, but then again, I already sort of predicted in the start of the season that ZnT won't appeal very much to the buying crowd in Japan. Which is a shame, since it's excellent. I hope at least Funimation or any other company picks it up for an official release in the West.

Heh, yeah. Touhou and KanColle are big there.

Well, I guess that's reasonable. Not everyone's gonna like an idol series in Japan, especially with so many competition (like AKB48 and Idolmaster) already.

The ranking below is torune ranking(recording anime in tokyo on ps the only data on recording anime as far as I know)

1位 JoJo

2位 Mahouka koukuo no rettousei

3位 No Game No life

4位 bokurawa minna kawaisou

5位 Pingpong THE ANIMATION

love live is 16th

the rank below is from anikore ranking of each season( left is rank of total score, right is rank of the number of member)

love live 6th 7th

love live second season 5th 9th

k-on second season 1st 3rd

k-on 1st 1st

madoka 1st 1st

haruhi 2nd 1st

lucky star 3rd 1st

I looked a lot more other than these ranking and also experience with my ani-ota japanese friends in real life, I have gotten impression that it is not widely liked by many of anime fans instead it attracts hard-core Love Live fans anywhere else.

Plus love live is famous for its fans buy several discs.
