| I always wondered about something, but how the heck is the Asura Kingdom still a functional kingdom according to the way the demesne is shown on the map? I would understand if the greyrats were powerful dukes among a large number of direct vassals, but according to the map, the 4 greyrat families basically control 80% of the kingdom's lands, with the Boreas' Fittoa region itself is equivalent in size to the entire non-greyrat demesne (which should include the royal demesne and the other minor direct vassals). Having that many interrelated superdukes of the same dynasty that have de facto control over the majority of the lands, I don't see why some random Greyrat wouldn't just come in and usurp the throne. Unless Greyrat is more of a ducal title rather than a dynasty, the stability of the kingdom is seriously questionable. (Its like having a Hapsburg Europe ruled by someone who is not a Hapsburg, it wouldn't take long for a usurper who is a member of the Hapsburg dynasty to overthrow the non-related sovereign) |
