This is the pool of films for Movie of the Fortnight consideration, along with a list of suggestions for the director and talent (actor, actress, screenwriter, composer, etc) spotlights which occur every month. Admins may occasionally choose something different not on the list, but if it is here it is more likely to be considered and featured!

Suggest as many films, directors and talent as you like. We will update the list when we see a new post.

The films must be obtainable online with English subtitles. You may suggest any and as many movies, directors, actors, actresses, film composers, screenwriters, etc as you want; old, young, experienced, upcoming - the more the better! The directors or other talent you suggest, however, must have at least two films obtainable online with English subtitles.

We would like a wide range of films to be featured if possible. As such, when a directors film is featured, we will not feature another film of theirs for at least three months. Suggestions of pornographic and/or Pinku films is discouraged, but not banned.

I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking "did he fire six shots or only five?" Now to tell you the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow you head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

I was under the impression that Tokyo Story was MOTW at some point in the past.. Hm... Guess not, so I'll vote for it.

Also would be nice to have some animations as well so I'll mention:

Howl's Moving Castle
Paprika
Spirited Away.

And since I am on the animation part, suggested director: Hayao Miyazaki

I wouldn't mind if someone knew other shows/directors worth mentioning that are not related to Ghibili or Miyazaki.

Can we add Shintarô Katsu to the actors list too? Maybe we'll have some old Zatoichi movie in the near future.

Sorry, I have not recommended a film in a LOOOONG while, so I have forgotten our method of recommendation. Please scold me if I have done it incorrectly!

I have a recommendation: Junichi Mori's two part slice-of-life film series: "Little Forest: Summer/Autumn" and "Little Forest: Winter/Spring".

Little Forest - Summer/Autumn:
Ichiko, a young woman who recently broke up with her city boyfriend, returns to her countryside childhood home and lives off the land, cooking extraordinarily breathtaking Japanese dishes based on the ingredients of the season.

Little Forest - Winter/Spring picks up where Summer/Autumn left off, with Ichiko’s maternal memories of food preparation and a garden covered with snow. The seasonal feasts have become much more focused around preserved foods and warm interactions with her sparse neighbor visitors.

Very organic and completely delightful, though a bit slow for some (not me!). I just watched them yesterday, subtitled, and I highly recommend them. They remind me of a Taste of Tea.
