What anime would guys say is the most violent? I've seen a lot of animes and definately a lot of violent ones.
I'd be torn between a couple of animes...
Gantz
Elfen Lied
Club-To-Death Angel Dokuro-Chan
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Devilman
Violence Jack
Dai Mahou Touge
Tenjho Tenge
Ichi The Killer
Genocyber
Urotsukidoji
Guyver
Apocalypse Zero
Kite

I'd say they're probably the most violent animes I've seen so far. I don't think I could pick an anime from that list to actualy be the most violent as they're all pretty damn bad. Gantz and Kite are the only two animes I've ever seen use the word C*nt though.

If you were to include anime that's not mainstream I would also add the following...
Pigeon Blood
Bondage Game
Ail Maniax
Shitai Wo Arau
And out of those I'd probably say Bondage Game is the sickest. Some of the things in those anime are just beyond sick.

Um Jyu Oh Sei has a lot of death and stuff in it.

And in Basilisk, someone dies like every episode.

I'd definitely go with Berserk if the anime was on par with the manga, but it's a good bit less gory and violent.

I think I'll have to go with Hellsing Ultimate, especially after seeing the most recent (3rd) episode.

I haven't seen the Gantz anime, but if it's anything like the manga, I'd say it would be most violent for me. Higurashi made me more squeamish than anything else though (those nails, dammit).

I'd say Elfen Lied is the most violent but that's probably because it's the most recent I've seen.

Gantz is my number one for sure. There is so much gore in there and they just animate it so lifelike that its almost sickening. Then I'd go with Berserk and Basilisk.

Well I can't think of any anime more violent then the ones that were said.

I'd just like to mention the Battle Royale manga as being probably the most violent and gory anime or manga I have ever read.

hehe yeah it's indeed violent^^ though i didn't get a sicken feeling like from cossette :o hellsing ultimate ova 3 was such a masterpiece, i can't wait for ova 4 to be released >_>

oh yeah i forgot about Narutaru: Mukuro Naru Hoshi Tama Taru Ko (Shadow Star Narutaru) i heard it starts like a pokemon anime and then after a few eps it gets OMFG super sick... it's on my download list xD
oh woah there is even a warning note on anidb :o "Note: Not suitable for children due to some brutal killings and scenes of extreme cruelty."
"Allthough Narutaru was shown on "Kids station", it`s not really for the younger kids. After a few episodes into the series it changes from a very uplifting and "cute" anime to a more mystic, dark and sick plot. "
that tells everything xD

Nothing tops the first 15 minutes of Elfen Lied. After watching that I was so shocked that I couldn't even comprehend where I was anymore.

Elfen lied due to the red haired girls going berserk and decapitating and dismembering everyone with their invisible hands.
I loved Higurashi for the killer lolis and the weird mystery going around. It was a lot freakier than Elfen Lied. Why? Well that nail remover gave me the chills.
Shion FTW!

Well, I haven't watched any of those besides Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, so I think I'd have to go with that. Also, from what I've heard, School Days is pretty damn violent. I haven't seen it, though, since YouTube forbid me from watching the first episode. ;_;

2. Elfen Lied
3. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (HOW COULD YOU FORGET THIS ONE?!?)
4. Gantz
5. Berserk
6. Mezzo Forte
7. Kite
8. Blood+
9. Berserk
10. Gunslinger Girls (not really ultra violent but one of my favorite action flicks of all time)
11.Tenjo Tenge (had potential but didnt show enough ultra violence)

NOTE: based on what i've seen so far.

I'm pretty sure I said Higurashi No Naku Kuro Ni in my first post.
I recently have completed Samurai Gun and that was realy violent. Made me laugh a lot too. If you watch the dubbed version there's just so much swearing it's insane.
I also watched Tokko and that's really violent as well first time Iv'e seen people shot in the face and the eye.
Dai Mahou Touge was also pretty damn violent as was Ikkitousen I guess.

Oh yes Devilman in extremly violent. But it is a dropped anime for years now.

EDIT: oh someone did mention Afro samurai. XD but yeah it is very violent. I remember watching a anime where with every slash of the blade there was blood but can't member the name. It seems to blurry in my mind.

2. Gantz
