THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I have to admit, that ending part was really touching and done great. However that still doesn't change that fact that the reason why everyone hates Hayami is good enough in my opinion. I find that part of the story lacking and still pisses me off that, thats the only reason.

One other thing that was kind of confirmed in this ep was that Otoha is related to Hinata. The only few things keeping me watching now is to find out how she died, how the grandfather and town will react to Hayami and Hinata talking to each other again, and what role Hirose will play in bringing peace to the village.

It's probably some stupid cliche reason like Hayami's family is cursed and will bring misfortune to those they get close to.

What I find interesting is to find out that Takuma's family is full of important bigshots, which explains why Hinata is being forced to cling to him so much. Well, here's hoping he catches wind of this, and also musters the courage to use it to his advantage. ( In the good way and the "good" way).

Wow great ep. I was touched deeply. Hayami is still my favorite. >_>
I think it has something to do with the social class or something. I remember last episode they were talking about poor people suck or something.

Hirose sure is determined to get that harem ending...honestly, can't blame the guy for wanting it...xD

Looks like Hinata's actions were mostly influenced by her grandfather. I can understand the whole wanting political connections, but wow her grandfather is certainly one giant douchebag. Nice to see Hinata finally breaking out of the shell her grandfather created for her, although I still say the whole issue was resolved too conveniently in my opinion.

The reason as to why the Kohinata family is estranged from the village still remains largely unknown. I would have to bet that it has something to do with the fact that they live in a very rural area, hence the old-style way of thinking. Of course the social hiearchy might have also played some sort of role to this whole mess, but it could be that the whole village just needs some sort of scapegoat for whatever bad things that might happen. I wouldn't put it pass the village to blaming the Kohinata family for the death of Hinata's sister.

I don't see the resemblance between Otoha and the girl in the photograph. Given that their chibi selves almost perfectly matched their current selves, Otoha just looks way too different from the girl in the photograph. Of course this is just blind speculation...

Pretty good episode, but I still couldn't help but laugh when the dramatic/ominous music is playing...There is also no way in hell Hamaji is a dude!!! How the hell can a 5something year old kid have such long hair like that??? Is he/she transexual or something??? No man would ever wear a meidu-fuku like that...worse that she actually looks good in it!!!

Here's to Otoha's gift wearing off at some important part of the story :-)

defenitely one one of the better episodes, but it still looks like cheese as far as plot is concerned. Still, this is a good episode. I wonder how it'll end...

I'm under the impression they are older than 5, but I may be mistaken.

I'm pretty sure it was already covered a few times in the last ep and this ep that the village is pissed off at Hayami Kohinata simply because of her social standing in the village and how she steps over the fine invisible line where poor people can't hang out with rich people. If you can come up with a better reason why the whole village hates her then maybe my opinion on this show will change from negative to positive, but from what I understood from these past few episodes is simply, the grandfather became pissed that his granddaughter was hanging out with someone lower class and the village didn't dare go against someone who's of the higher class so they helped him burn down her family's house. As for the sister dieing, I have no theory's or answers on that. I honestly didn't think the dead sister was Otoha till I saw the pic in this ep. It looks almost exactly like her. So I'm going to continue thinking that the ghost and the dead sister are related somehow.

It appears I was right about Takuma Hirose being of higher lineage but he doesn't seem to know. I wonder why that is. And I still think his uncle is out of place in this series haha. Every time I see him it just feels like he doesn't belong in the show. The way hes drawn and the way he acts is just out of place lol.

Yeah the whole reason why they all hate hayami sucks. Unless her family did something terrible, that just stupid for acting that way because they were like poor people. Unless they were the only poor ones in the entire village? I doubt it. And I didn't like how she just forgave her in an instant, I thought it could have been a bit more emotional/drawn out then it was. After all she was even going to take away the person that hayami really liked just because she was told. It was a good episode none the less.

What's with this half-assed background story. They once again said Hayami and her family were despised but didn't say why. The reunion didn't bring up any emotions in me either, other shows do that much better. It's still going downhill for this show.

Three minutes in and I had a really strong urge to drop this, what with Hinata's random-cliche "I LOVE U~!!" and Hirose's "I want to talk to Hayami-chan! Hinata! Hinata!" Wow, is it so hard to just yank your arm out of her grasp and be a man for once? D: But then I saw that some people enjoyed this episode more than the first four so I continued with it.

Okay so I guess her confession wasn't that random. Either her grandfather put her up to it or she really does feel that way. Bah. This show has cliche written all over it. I guess this episode was better than the previous ones but might that be because there's no overly lame fanservice?

If Hinata had cried one more time, I would have probably gone insane.

And that reunion didn't make me feel anything. It was just a ton of fail, especially since it included, yet again, that irritating candy line.

But Otoha's appearance was awesome. xD

I've already said way back then that the social hiearchy of the village might be the reason as to why Hayami is hated to that degree. There might be deeper reasons to that (such as the Kohinata family somehow causing the death of Hinata's sister), but we will just have to wait and see. We aren't even halfway through the series, I'm hoping H2O can deliver on that "rocks my soul" thing.

hm... what i felt was touching, was not the ending, but actually the slight buildup to the ending, starting from takuma confronting hinata to right before hinata meets kohinata in person. otherwise, i think this episode somewhat redeemed the show a little, so im gonna raise it a point, i think.

I'm surprised with all the people who said this episode was "touching" or that they enjoyed that ending. This series is still dangerously close to being dropped for me and while the episode was better than 4, that's not saying much at all.

The Hayami-Hinata reunion was just done poorly. I've watched 4 episodes of Hinata ignoring Hayami completely, and then suddenly with no change in character at all, they're buddy buddy again. I'm sorry, I guess there was that one scene where Hinata feebily objected to her grandfather, that clearly justifies the two of them making-up. Usually, you would expect the male lead to drag hinata out there, give some giant speech about how they need to be friends, and then you get touching reunion. It may be cliche but at least it works. Without that outside force trying to rectify the problem, and with no change from the internal forces, nothing should change. The whole scene was poorly written, poorly executed, and altogether unbelievable.

The one good thing in this episode, is that they started giving out tiny pieces of background information, but not nearly enough considering how unbelievable the plot is to begin with. The only reason I'm still watching this series is because I'm waiting to see what truly epic reason every single person in the town has for hating Hayami to the point of constant physical and verbal abuse. I'm quite certain however, it's going to be some crappy reason that doesn't justify the townspeople at all, like Hayami accidentally fell into the sacred ant mound or something equally stupid.

My expectations for this series have quite literally fallen through the floor.

EXACTLY! The entire episode he's running around, trying to go after Hayami and when Hinata stops him, all he can do is go "Hinata! Hinata!" What the hell, no wonder Hayami doesn't want to be around you. You're a doorknob and a pussy!

Hinata started crying okay, but Hayami turns around, gives her a candy and hugs her???? What the hell. I mean, they could have shouted at each other a bit. And Hirose should have been telling Hinata how stupid she is!

In other news, did anyone else get the feeling that Hinata is not really Hinata? Perhaps, not even really a Kagura?? Maybe that was just the translation and my weird mind though...

Without that outside force trying to rectify the problem, and with no change from the internal forces, nothing should change.

What brought on the change was Hinata seeing that there was no monster on the other side of the bridge. I think she had said it so many times, and imagined it, she really started to believe it, some part of her anyway.

Imagine you're a kid, younger than ten probably, and your grandfather and the rest of the town carry torches and say they are going to fight the "monster", and your friend is there, and they tell you its because you were friends with her that this had to happen... it's confusing enough for me, can you see how it would all get jumbled up in a kids head and seriously screw her up? No wonder Hinata is a nutcase.

On top of that, she gets to the other side of the bridge and sees the squalid conditions Hayami has been living under, combined with the windmill toy, and the dam just breaks.

I thought the scene was the most touching part of the series so far, and intend to continue watching. Tough I admit, the characters still seem rather forced, and this is only a mediocre series in my mind.

It will probably be solved afterworlds, so stop saying its got no story!!!

ugh. The only reason I'm not dropping this is because I want to know what the town has against Kohinata. Whatever it is though, I doubt I'll be giving this show anything more than a 5, even if there is a "Nice Boat" ending. The build-up so far doesn't justify one.

This series is actually getting harder for me to watch but maybe ... just maybe it'll get better. I didnt find the last scene to be all that touching, i actually found it rather forced. Rationality should tell Hinata that there is no such thing as monsters and it's not as though Kohinata has been hiding like a troll, she goes to school every day, she won't turn into a monster once she returns home -___-

Plus, how can Takuma tolerate the behaviour of Hinata, he should have just pushed her away and run after Kohinata...
