So, I'm re-reading this VN for the sixth time (I think) and I'm on the part where Yuuji brings Makina the book for her crawfish, and they go into how she can, in short, take a mental snapshot of each page in black and white so she can memorize it better and then pull that information out later. Yuuji then talks about how his sister could do it too. This part always interested me because it reminded me a lot of people with Eidetic memory (photographic memory), so I decided to do some research on Monochrome Memorization, but all of my research turned up blank. So, does anyone know if this is actually a skill that real people have, or is it just something that was made up for the VN? If you do know anything, links and sources would be great.

My mom had a photographic memory. My dad used to show her a page and she would read it back to him from memory. She was a valedictorian in high school because of this. If you don't keep using your mind though, it starts to fade and since she became a housewife, she doesn't have it anymore.

Bumping this thread because I'm curious as well. Is monochrome memorization really real?
