Oi oi ladies and gentletrolls, it's time for some horror!

Yeppie doodle that's right; horror - and what I wanna see is some really scary shit, don't mind if it's a bit on the "supernatural" side or whatever.

Just make sure it has the capability of giving you many or even countless chills down your spine :-) or in this case; my spine hehe

I'll be awaiting your wise tipsy-doodles.

Not a single mention of Perfect Blue yet? Because that is one of the creepiest anime I have seen so far.

Also here is an opening to another creepy anime.

Seconding Mononoke as well, even if it's not that creepy, you should still watch it.

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, dropped it at episode 8. - 3/10

Why?

Because the synopsis speaks pretty much for itself: "Based on the amateur mystery game by 7th Expansion, the story is told in a series of different scenarios.

Why couldn't they have done it like Chiefs where each protagonist has a specific influence on the story and ultimately end up solving the dilemma? (not that it has to be SPECIFICALY like that)

All in all, it weren't even a bit scary, and I got tired of seeing the protagonist revived along with all other characters, so this one goes in the dumpster.

- Thanks for tip still, but I'm not one to easily have chills going down the spine - try harder :-)

While I love Higurashi, if he's looking for horror, it really isn't the correct choice. It is more of a suspense/thriller.

That said, I think you went into it on the wrong idea. I'd recommend that you keep going if that was your main concern, as things are explained more and more as the series goes on.

I don't have much in the way of horror for you, but how about creepy suspense?

Perfect blue looks kinda boring but I guees I'll give it a try

Kakurenbo? + 13 age? :-P Try harder mister, hehe

17 + or more - otherwise it ain't horror :-P

- lol nope I won't continue on Higu, when I saw the face of Shion rocking the ladder scaring the stereotype mofo who's climbing on it to get up to the window I giggled so hard I almost friggin threw up lmao

And those insane laughs, the fuck is that?? rofl, so fucken annoying

If you want chills down your spine, i have to say Anime really fails in comparison to regular horror movies. Particularly the non-torture porn kind (those are just nasty rather than scary).

There isn't a single anime i've seen that's consistently scary, but the closest is probably Mononoke. I just don't see the dementia in higurashi as scary, or even particularly creepy for that matter, but Mononoke, particularly the very last arc, has some eerie imagery. The ayakashi bake neko arc is good as well, but Mononoke is bonechilling in more of a sinister, evil, yet human way. It's not going to scare your pants off or keep you up at night.

Perfect Blue is much more of a suspense thriller, and the only truly unnerving bits are at the end. The rest is exciting and suspenseful, but not scary.

I really think anime is a lost cause in this regard. Maybe go for a Japanese or korean horror movie. Audition? That's really messed up. There's torture porn like hostel, which shows you all the gory details, albeit in very unrealistic fashion, and then there's audition...where the same thing happens, but it shows you JUST enough to let your imagination go wild. You really feel how hard it is to cut through bone, that's all i'll say. I was pretty drunk when i saw a tale of two sisters, but from what i recall i was scared.

Hmm yeah points more and more towards the fact that it can't manage to scare folks unless their relatively young..

I've had my share of chills but then again that (in a way) stopped happening, I guees I'm not as much of a scaredy-cat anymore :-)

- Emliy: Berserk ain't scary for shit lol, except for the part when Guts looks down the eyes of Zodd in his true form - could symphatize slightly with his fear at that moment, but otherwise it's just mindless man slaughter

I doubt you'll get scared by watching animes good sir.

I don't think the anime media can translate fully the scarry/horryfying/frightning feels like a live movie can. It's not "realistic" enough. In the back of your head, all you see are drawings, while in films you can relate to people, to humans like you (I assume...? :D) so the empathy is multiplied.
Letting aside the directing is almost always twice better in -horror- movies than in -horror- animes.

My 2 cents, dunno if it's really clear.

I seriously doubt there is any anime that's actually scary. You should try movies, books, or video games instead.

You could try Monster, though. It comes close with its creepiness.

Real movies doesn't scare me either, me and my mother watched a new one about 3 months ago I think...jesus christ how lame it was.

We were watching this part of the movie when it turned all black in the room where the woman currently was being chased by some stereotype scary figure - I said: "Oh, of course the monster will stand behind her when the light returns" Turned out I was completely right and my mother lol'd, lmao (Stopped watching at that point obviously and so did my mother)

And hey, yeah it got to be games. They always manage to somehow scare me, last I played was Bioshock and darn it was good. Completed on hardest too 'cuz it was that good :-P

And yer I'll try n' see if I can get my hands on Monster, torrent weren't available last time I checked but we'll see.

Heard some good things about it, so I'll leave my feedback here once I've watched it, ty.

Most horror movies are pretty bad and reek of cliche, but there's some good and genuinely creepy stuff if you search hard enough. I'm currently on a bit of a movie spree myself.

Games are pretty good for scares too, even if they aren't perfect. Since you're playing and controlling as opposed to just watching, it feels a lot more personal. Silent Hill 1-4 and Fatal Frame are pretty damn creepy, especially late at night when everything is quiet.

As for Monster, I don't think I could find a decent torrent for it either. The one I found was horribly slow, so I think I found some DDL's (direct download) instead after googling a bit.

What kind of things are what scares you exactly? Horror is not the same for everyone at all. Everyone has their ticks and the kind of things that get to them, or make them jump. I'm a bit of a horror geek so not much scares me anymore, and to be honest I agree that Anime isn't really much of a place to look for scares.

There are a handful of the Anime mentioned in this thread that scared some of my friends like hell, and even one that got me ;P but if you don't know a thing about what scares or chills a person then it's hard to pick something Horror related for them.
