Eh, it was a bit boring. At this rate, maybe they can be like idols. Manager is still the best character in this show though. Oh and cute shoes.

I watched the first episode three times because I liked it so much haha

I wonder why Shun became an idol, when he said that he'd rather be in a band. The end with Kakeru and his friends was interesting. I think that Kakeru is a good choice for an MC. And it was cute that he was happy when he got the shoes from the president. I can't help but think that he only likes them because his friends were so keen about them though.

Also, did Kakeru sing the ED?

So I guess this show is actually more geared towards SoL. It's kind of weird though, and a bit too poetic.

Yet I kind of prefer this to the first episode. I just wish they had some BGM or something cause I feel like I might fall asleep if I watch this late in the day.

Yeah I thought it was really poetic too, and maybe a little too much. But I still liked some of the things that were said (or narrated by Kakeru). This is definitely not a show to watch when you're tired. It was a good relaxing episode though. Like the epitome of SoL, the way the pacing and dialogue went. The company president sure is a weird one, but I knew he would've bought them the shoes anyways. How nice of him :)

The president might be a bit weird but he's the best character so far, imo.
Liked the conversation between him and Kakeru about friends and the difference in class which separates them.

Getting those sneakers from the president sure made him happy, but he chose not to wear them in school as his friends would notice.
That president speaks the truth. Even Kakeru can't deny that.

A little slow paced episode but not bad! Those rehearsals for "Air Boys" were pretty funny in a way.

This show continues to be sort of very boring, but the president buying them all shows was so sweet..

I hope the show picks up. I really want a good male idol anime ;__; Atleast we have Love Stage.. <3

It's really interesting to listen to an Adults point of view. It can be irritating to the ears but it really hits home. I hope you guys take the advices at heart.I had mix feelings with career choosing myself but Pres' advice really lifts me up.

Love the ED. The episode was a bit slow but alright overall. I feel like this theme (male idols) is weird to mix in with a realistic "deep" kind of feel.

Also...6.01? Whoa, MAL, harsh!

Hopefully we'll get to see that (random) AIR BOYS play, haha.

And I hope we get some backstories on the rest of the characters (especially my fav, Shun)

Overall, very slow-paced, but that's to be expected of slice-of-life anime I guess... but the "idol" theme incurs energy and action so it's quite an interesting blend of two genres.

Let's see where this show goes...

I agree the ep was meh. I really hope they do the character focus eps since the ED changes. I want to see Mii and Shun's eps ><. And at this rate, after the 5 idols have their limelight eps, maybe the original SH members would finally appear and sing the ED songs cos I'm very curious abt them.

The ice cream hair megane guy's voice is annoying. It's only this ep that I realized that.

Kakeru's boring. I like his friends better.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Mii was humming the original SH group's song he was watching the prev ep ^^

There is a lot of truths behind those "poetic" and rather cheesy dialogues between the president and Kakeru.
That being said, I honestly really enjoyed those parts.
Obviously i'm not an idol (lol) but it did resonate with me which I found interesting enough.

I have a feeling that if these were little girls in a clubroom talking about the same type things people would eat it right up.

Of course I don't think this is perfect by any stretch of the imagination.
Once again some parts of the episode drag on and are quite boring.
For the first episode it was the introductions and this one was the Air Boys phrases thing.

@Vongole: Ice cream hair megane lawl
Let's just say I wouldn't miss him if he left...

I found my self enjoying episode 2 quite a lot actually! Episode 1 was okay, I originally thought the art might be a bit too realistic for my taste but it episode 2 it seemed more toned down, I guess.

I plan on watching more, and hope for good things. I want more of getting to know the other group members.

The voice acting is also really well done.

I didn't have high expectations for this show after the first episode, but this one was actually a lot better. Hoping they pick it up occasionally (it's possible for slice-of-life to be TOO slice-of-life) but overall it has a nice vibe to it. It feels very real.

How old is the manager? O.O I thought he was pretty young

Best character is president. Interesting guy. His methods remind me of what they do before debuting tentative successful K-pop idols (I don't listen to J-pop) with the AIR BOYS play. Showing your fans your personalities and winning their hearts. The president's right in the sentiment that a direction and image is the most important thing for an idol. They really do have to become a special something, it doesn't matter how good your singing and dancing is.

The shoes thing was cute. I like how Kakeru took them to school.

Looks like I'm not dropping this after all :)

Plain, laid-down, simple, yet effective. I'm starting to become intrigued by the president's methods and the intents and goals behind them. Then we have Kakeru's coming of age story and the president teaching him on how to approach whatever path you choose.

Hits right at home, without the need for drama and comedy, this plain slice of life satisfied me completely.

5/5 - Heartwarming message.

The contest is still running for wheter the president plays a Kyuubey or a Gandalf in this show. Does he want to give those punks bunch of life lessons or take their souls with his idol-like endeavors and crush their very existence, while smiling distantly? I can't tell. But heck, does he intrigue me.

I like "ice-cream hair megane guy" the most. Here, I said it. No, seriously, I really like his dedication and how he just goes with the flow. Also his seiyuu seeems to be fresh but he does greatly.

Because if he did, his friends would get jealous of him for getting them for free when they had to wait in line for it and everything. Kakeru doesn't want them to think he's special and privileged for being an idol.

Oh, I see. That's what I've been wondering too.. I was even thinking that he might give the shoes to his friend.. And I love his talk with the Pres about the right and wrong path.. hits home. Liking this series now.

Bishounen pop-idols! This probably sucks!
*watches anyway*
*falls asleep*
6/10 - this sucks! dropped!

While those like me who appreciate it usually rate it as a 5-6/10 because it is for now average and competent, it does nothing bad and does a lot of things right, but it's very subtle and plain down-to-earth, you can't even tell if it's building up to something.

Yeah! Same here. I wasn't expecting this series to have such philosophical viewpoints. Especially not in a series about idols.

I don't know, the episodi wasn't the best but it still had something worth
The atmosphere is just differenti... I never watched something like this.
The 5.98 score is ridicolous. Not even flash animes are rated that low

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be enjoying this... It brings interesting views. The shoe part was really heartwarming and actually made me stop and think about it. But I don't think the pace and the story around it is interesting. I also can't seem to like any character, they all look the same to me, just dull pretty boys slowly growing up.
Will keep watching because I liked the way this episode ended, hopefully I will change my view on the characters and story soon.

I have the feeling that this will turn out to be unexpectedly good. I was really expecting another cute dumb boys show but this episode showed some subtle personalities. Still don't know what exactly to expect, it seems to be going in a kind of a slice of life drama or so.

I really like the laid-back and easy-going feel. Unusual depiction concerning the subject matter.

A few people have mentioned "idols" and "realistic" don't go together, too, but I disagree.

When they're acting as idols, yes, a hyperrealistic feel might be the case, but idols are a real-life thing. They exist in reality. They're people who just happen to be putting on a show to entertain, and then go home, stub their toes and feel stupid just like ordinary people. It's really nice seeing that side of it.

Side note: I like seeing the bits of inflated, existential poetry coming from Kakeru's mind-space. I remember being just like that as a teenager, especially being involved in a performance art. Sometimes you tend to think in terms of metaphors and patterns and it all gets a bit silly.

The sneakers of truth, haha.

That being said, I did enjoy this episode, with his lengthy parts and overly poetic dialogues/monologues. I also really like how the extremely realistic approach of the show clashes with the very idealistic idol sub-culture, and some of Kakeru's reflections definitely resonated with me.

A heavily flawed, but nonetheless very good episode. Love the ED.

Man that shachou though, so rude. Kira is a bit annoying but lol, "you cannot touch the hearts of others no matter how hard you sing and dance." And also telling Kakeru to continue being empty...I don't even. Shachou is such an odd person and comes up with things randomly, like his predecessor, apparently, who thought of stuff like "rolling idol."

Also, Kakeru's poetic-ness. "...and eventually perhaps I will become trash myself." That's such a sad line, but I also understand Kakeru's line of thinking. He's really relatable.

What was uplifting though was when shachou told Kakeru that "there are times when it's right to take the mistaken path." Makes me a bit hopeful regarding my future and how pathless I am.

Lastly, wanted to mention how lovely the shots of the settings are. They're really calming and have a nostalgic feel to them.

Well, it was a little better than the first episode. The pace is pretty slow, but it's definitely not always a bad thing.

Now I also want Mike Pedro's Copernicus sneakers. They looked pretty cool, hehe.
