I liked it because I thought it was alright. Except that part in the middle.

Yes I enjoyed it because Satou is the only anime guy that I most related to.
But I do also think that is overrated, and I personally didn't like the light-hearted and humoristic tone it had handling topics such as suicide and other stuff, because I am more of a tragedy guy, but obviously this is subjective.

I watched the series and I liked it. The setting and story are not to overbearing with slight dramatic comedy here and there. The story is very concise and leaves you feeling slightly touched by the warmth of the events that happened. The animation is quite out their from what anime i have watched up till now. The plot development is very steady and slightly feels a tad to slow which for me is the only downside. For the show itself i believe it's shining point is the way we can relate to the character ( i personally feel the connection thinking myself as a somewhat NEET). I will end off my speech with a thumbs up.

People can relate to being alone and depressed and shit

I forgot what I thought about that anime, which probably means it was okay for me cause I don't remember it being great, or horrible.

Maybe you should read some reviews about it.

Personally, I liked it a lot, because of the story about a hikikomori who slowly but steady tries to fit into society again despite his fear for crowds full of people. Also, I think that most people like it, because they can relate themselves to the protagonist, as a great number of people who watch anime have the same fears.

If you like a bittersweet story with well-developed characters, then I recommend you to give it a try.

It exposed alot about the NEET Lifestyle, Otakuism and it was just interesting, with a bittersweet love story.

I find both the anime and the manga great, but I think the manga beats it in the end.

I say this because I was left quite a bit more disturbed at the end.

Welcome to the NHK! is something I can only rewatch ever so often because the pain is just so real.

One of my favorite scene's is when
It was both hilarious and so sad at the same time.

Because they can relate to the main character? I can't think of another reason why would someone would like it.

Interesting themes? Story? Unique and deep characters? Nice soundtrack? There are tons of reasons to like this anime. Well, it's not the best thing ever, but still good.

I know a lot of people prefer the manga/novel and the show is admittedly rough around the edges but I still thought it was decent and effective at conveying it's themes.

I didn't find any them interesting, the story was pretty stupid in multiple occasion, the story between Misaki and Satou was interesting but alas it was neglected till the last part of the show, and felt stupid by the end of it for me, since they didn't explore further enough. So still no. And the characters are definitely not deep imo. I didn't notice the soundtrack.

Of course there would be other reasons, I just mean that being able to relate to the main character, is the only reason I can personally agree with.

Quirky but fascinating characters, a dramatically satisfying portrayal of a widespread but largely unacknowledged social occurence, and it also explores many themes while occasionally being rather hilarious. Other than its sometimes choppy animation, its either decent or brilliant depending on your tastes.

i could relate more to yamazaki (guy with glasses) because at the time i watched welcome to the nhk, me and my friend were fantasizing about making a visual novel @_@" also i still love the pururin song to this day
also misaki is waifu material
so yeah, it wasn't satou who made the show for me, but he is still one of the most interesting protagonist characters i've seen

The atmosphere is just wonderful, it can get a bit ridiculous at times, but nevertheless Satou's character just feels so human. I've seen a lot NEET characters, this is the only one that hits the nail

For me, I love this show becouse it's funny, very funny. After 3 episode i have to take brake becouse my jaw was hurting :)
3 setps to become Masochist:
1. Read source material
2. Watch anime adaptation
3. Suffer
Bonus Step: Tell everyone that anime is crap becouse Manga/Novel is better (duh..)

How to find the worst trash anime ever, so bad that people should be ashamed for even knowing this trash exist:
1. Check your favorite anime
2. Enjoy your shit taste pleb
Works everytime for everyone.

Tsudecimo nailed it. It's because I can relate to the main character(s).

Satou is not only a NEET, or a loner or a pervert. He's all of these and a lot more. He embodies the frustration inherent to growing up, getting your dreams crushed and feeling that you are not ready to accept changes in your life. This is a series about maturity and in its way a coming-of-age; one that deals with characters becoming outcasts because they are too scared to do what society expects of them. And this anxiety is displayed in a way that feels very real, very close to my concerns and I can definitely feel represented by this view. I'm a very insecure person and the basis for this insecurity is that I always tend to drag the mindset and expectations of life I had in earlier ages. This series managed to capture this little shameful part of myself, and I can't help but love it for that.

Hated it. Most contrived piece of shit I have ever watched. He was a NEET at best, his whole disorder was an on and off thing that was used to further the plot. Got boring near the end. The "romance" was non existent.

I watched this with the thought that it would be somewhat similar to tatami galaxy but I was sorely disappointed. The flow is really generic . Nhk is just another passable show to me . It's not bad but it still is a farshot from a great show.

This anime is very rough, depressing, and funny at times. Just like my life.

After watching this show I understood that I am one of the millions of hikikomoris, who wouldn't survive a day without socialism. This is the perfect anime to talk about with other lovers of anime. It's a quick way to screen whether or not we can understand each other on a deep level. It's no coincidence that the best friends I've met online also love Welcome to the NHK.

Finished it today and I liked it, but it could've be better (More serious and less humor, most jokes was bad anyway).

Is it normal, that I (22 year old hikikomori that spend last 7 years on playing WoW) feel almost nothing after watching this? I expected that I would think about life and future, but now I don't even know what to think

I liked it because the show used realism to keep me on my toes. First of all the characters lie about realistically. When Yamasaki lied to Satou about having a girlfriend it highlighted a few interesting things about both of them. Once we learn for sure that Yamasaki isn't dating the girl at his college his insecurity is put on full display. In the same scene, Satou overhears the girl bad mouthing Yamasaki behind his back. Now we are also given an explanation of why Yamasaki is so insecure, It's because he struggles socially almost just as much as Satou. Now I haven't gone out stocking my friends for information like this but I have dug around in other ways to find out what my peers are struggling with. I understand Satou's need to find out if his friend is really getting more action than he is. Another relatable and realistic thing that Sautou expenses in this episode are the paralyzing stress and fear that comes with showing a teacher personal creative work. Even as a fifteen-year-old boy I was so familiar with the feelings Satou had in this particular scene. Anyway, this is just me talking about what I can remember from one episode of this series.

The show has a realistically dynamic tone. Satou will be confident that the hentai game will be good but then something will happen and those emotions will turn into despair. In storytelling, we can usually expect for the character flaws to be fixed at the end of the work and then they can accomplish their goals at the climax. Just Like in NHK in real life people can be totally in the right headspace and other times not so much because life is a constant struggle.
