I was wondering if anybody knew of any websites that were similar to MAL, except for television, movies, or books?

I adore this site and it'd be cool to find a book/tv/movie/etc. site as well.

Mod edit: edited the thread title for better searchability.

the closest i've found for movie/books are facebook applications. (flixster, and iread) you can add books/movies you're reading/watched, rate, review, and keep a list of what youve read/seen, favorites, and what you own.

but i dont know any specific site.

i've personally been trying to find a site like MAL for tv shows / asain dramas. x_<;

http://www.dvdaf.com/ maybe? It's a list site for dvds. It's the closest thing that I can think of, though it's pretty much just a listing.

You don't want use to move there, surely?! Besides, books and movies? You can remember if you've read/seen them or not.
Naw, nothing beats MAL

What are the best in your opinions?

I know I tried finding one for movies (Filmcraze?) but it wasn't very good...

i am SO bad at remembering the movies i've seen, especially ones i havent seen in 5+years. oh, and as for books there are a bunch of books i'll forget i've read if i dont keep a list, because i didn't think they were that good.

I consider MAL to be the safer, more PWNFUL, version of MySpace. =)

i have to say that i think mal is a lot more like a facebook for anime. myspace is too obnoxious/customizable. facebook is neater, and thus more like mal haha. (except there are too many new applications on facebook now...)

Actually, if you include Tokusatsu, I need one of those myself...

Would also very much like a Comic Book version of My Anime List (as stated in my profile :D), but I doubt the comic book fanboys would ever have the drive to create a site as good as MAL.

'Cause. You know. Its not like people don't do stuff aside from anime and wouldn't want to keep track of that.

I don't have to keep track of what books I've read because I buy all my books. Any book on my shelf has been read. xD

And the next person to compare MAL to myspace will be hit with a wrecking ball. >_>

Does anyone know any sites that I could keep track of my video games with?

Why is it that none of those book-based sites list them in alphabetical order?... Or is there a way to make it do that? 'Cause I haven't found it on either of them yet... >_<

There's www.last.fm
For music. It's not like a list, u download a program and its gonna put all you listen in your computer to a list of top artists you most listened at the week, top musics and artists overall.
It's really good for people who likes to know different styles of music and bands.
Take a look at my last.fm:

You can rate movies, etc and keep track of them at imdb, although the site design is much more cluttered than MAL and the people who post on the boards are immature trolls and spammers.

I think I just decided to trade in Librarything to switch to Shelfari, but, I am pretty sure LibraryThing will let you add your own covers, so making a new account on that for comics is an option.

I haven't found an option to add my own covers on Shelfari yet, unfortunately. Only the option to switch between the ones that are already there.

This one's too flashy and clean, makes me suspicious.

This movie list would be good if didnt force you to rate shit out of A HUNDRED. Fuck's sake.

This one doesnt look good, but I like the stats.

Hmm, dont know which to go with. I'm leaning with goodreads. What do you guys think?

I actually already have a listal.com account but dont know if I want to keep with it, it doesnt have a 'currently reading' option for books. Plus, maybe its better to just list everything on different sites, lastfm for music, MAL for anime, etc.

ARRGH, 21ST CENTURY INTERNET'S PENCHANT FOR PROVIDING OODLES OF OPTIONS HAS ME IN DESPAIR.

Well, it's actually
Tao Te Ching by Lao-Tzu, Stephen Addiss, Stanley Lombardo, and Burton Watson

according to amazon.

Yeah, I already searched through all their names, but cant find it. I've searched other obscure books and goodreads has found them so far, so its not all bad I guess.

EDIT: AHA! I searched via ISBN and goodreads got it. Lovely. Cant beat the old ISBN trick.

I have tried goodreads, shelfari, anobii, and librarything for importing my giant manga collection ISBN list, and so far I have had the best luck with librarything and goodreads.

I have ended up going with Librarything because I had fewer errors doing a mass import. For a while, librarything didn't want to mass import with amazon japan as the info source, but when I finally got it working, it does a great job. I really like how easy it is to tag and organize things, and all the possible display styles you can save. I just wish the site layout and colors weren't so ugly.

But the cover display is nice.

Backloggery is an awesome video game listing site. In my opinion.
