The first anime I'd watched was actually Shugo Chara. Which was... okay, I watched it while I was sick and staying home from school. But the anime that really made me go into the genre was No Game No Life, with it's brilliant artwork and the fact that the characters were very smart. I usually prefer the kinda of wish fulfillment that is when the main character is kinda unbeatable.

Naruto got me watching online but it was either steins;gate or guilty crown, whichever came out first, that got me watching seasonal anime.

I used to love FMA and Inuyasha on Toonami and try to catch to every night before bed, but sadly I just thought they were really cool cartoons and didn't venture further into anime.

It wasn't until 3-4 years ago that I tried watching Soul Eater because I had a friend keeping talking to me about it. And that was it, I was hooked.

Dragon Ball Z. I had watched Pokemon before it, but that didn't turn me into an Anime fan. DBZ made me seek out other Anime.

Always watched Pokémon when I was younger. Then stopped. Attack on Titan brought me back.

I had always watched VHS tapes of sailor moon and such when I was a kid. I'm not sure if I can include this though since I didnt even know what anime was at the time

But the anime(s) that resparked my interest were Hayate no Gotoku and Darker Than Black years back

Haruhi. It was long after the time when it was the most hyped up shit ever (2006-2007???), IIRC I watched it around 2011 and was technically the first anime I watched knowing it was anime (Pokemon would really be my first but I had no idea it was any different from Western cartoons then) and that's around when I got interested.

What was the first anime you watched that got you hooked onto animes in general?
Like mine for example was Shaman King (probably took interest because of the comedy and the plot i guess).
After that i started watching and looking up for other animes and mangas ^_^

I'm sure this thread exists, but this one is made directly from the results of a recent study.
Kotaku did an article found here on it with 10,000 responses from Japanese fans.
Post the show that got you into anime and see where it falls on the list!
Don't feel like reading/clicking to the article? Here's the results:

Find the results shocking? How do you think everything would rate in your country?

For me, it was InuYasha. I had watched DBZ and Sailor Moon as a kid, but didn't know it was "anime."
I caught InuYasha on Adult Swim followed by YYH and never looked back. By the time I saw Cowboy Bebop, I was hooked.

That being said, I think it's fairly obvious that they surveyed a good amount of teens since a lot of the anime listed are newer.
