I have the following platforms:

Gamecube, Playstation 1 and 2, Xboc 360, Dreamcast, and N64. I also have a SNES but I know it can't render 3rd graphics (besides Star Fox).

Rec me some good, not too frustrating but still deep and fun 3rd fighters. I guess I am leaning towards games for the 360 and Dreamcast.

For Dreamcast, Soul Calibur and Power Stone are a must. If you're also interested in 2.5D, Super Smash Bros. is also pretty fun.

Dead or Alive is fun, there's DOA 2 for the Dreamcast and DOA4 on the 360.

Get Power Stone, Plasma Sword and Project Justice for the Dreamcast. They are awesome fighters!

Bloody Roar on the Gamecube was also pretty decent.

Battle Fantasia is an underrated fighting on the 360.

Killer Instinct on the N64.

Rival Schools on the PS1 is a must buy if you are looking for a fun and unique fighting game.

Hope that helps! :-)

you must play paper mario bro. you have to. other than it being an rpg classic, it has the best soundtrack in the history of gaming. Especially during the later half of the game. I dont like mario games usually. but this is the exception. devil may cry series(best hack n' slash game) runs for the ps2(games 1-3) and then you can play devil may cry 4 on the 360. you should also buy silent bomber for the ps1. IMO its easily one of the best old gen games. action genre, and pretty good graphics for its time. you should look into tales of vesperia for the 360. and other "tales" games. and if your really big on turn based rpgs then you should get these two games: breath of fire II(snes), and legend of dragoon(ps1).

Beat Paper Mario 5 times, and yes, it is a classic. Also thanks for the other suggestions I'll check em out. I remember playing Legend of Dragoon when I was younger on a Demo disc. ^_^ Fun stuff. Yeah, SNES rpgs are fucking awesome. I still need to get Earthbound.. :P is breath of fire one good? or is it for a dif platform?

Well, I guess I could show you.

Both Guilty Gear and Arcana Heart distance themselves from Street Fighter and King Of Fighters because they're much faster and combos play a much more important role.

But! Since you also have a 360, I can also recommend you BlazBlue!

Arcana Heart is basically a faster more combo heavy game when compared to such games as Street Fighter. If you can find it however, buy it, it's awesome. It's hard to find at present since Atlus released them in the US in limited quantities. It should be mentioned too that Arcana Heart is a 2D fighting, not a 3D one.

Other 3D titles you may like:

Deadly Arts on the N64

Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring on the PS1

And the TOBAL series also on the PS1. You'll have to import it since it wasn't released outside of Japan, but it's a very solid fighter.

Just purchased Street Fighter Alpha Anthology for PS2. Liking it so far - first Street Fighter game I've ever played.

Also, has anybody used this before? I'm wanting to mod my PS2 Slim to play legit imports, and I was thinking of buying this. Looks pretty straight foward, and I've heard that having a modded system opens up lots of gaming possibilities.

Tbh the only good 3-D fighters are the Tekken series (You can find 1-3 on the PS1, 4-5 and Tekken tag on the PS2) and the Virtua Fighter series (VF2 - PS2, VF3 - DC, VF4 - PS2, VF5 - 360) Not much of a competitive scene for anything else.

If you want 2D ones:
Melty Blood series if you have a modded/Japanese PS2.
Street fighter III: 3rd strike, and Alpha 3, Dreamcast.
Capcom Vs. SNK 2, Dreamcast.
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Dreamcast
Darkstalkers/Vampire Savior series, Dreamcast and PS1.
JoJo's bizarre adventure, Dreamcast.
Gaoru: Mark of the Wolves, Dreamcast.
Guilty Gear series (MUST,) Dreamcast, PS1, PS2.
Blazblue, 360.
SFIV, 360.
KoFXII (Not nearly as good as previous KoF's, still sorta good.) 360.

Releasing a 2D fighter for the 360? That takes balls. Since my Xbox is hooked up to an HDTV, I might check this one out just to see how good 2D can look.

I was a fighting game junkie, especially for the Dreamcast. The ones I haven't seen recommended were Tech Romancer and Virtual On. I really like Virtual On. It kinda has a similar combat style as FF: Dissidia (from observation, I don't own Dissidia). Tech Romancer is a fun and unique fighter as well.

Bro, every letter you typed represents 100 hours of SSB that I've played. Best game ever.

On that, does anybody know any games that are ultra similar to the Super Smash Brothers series?
