THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Ah and Mereum finds Palm...that didn't take long tbh.

Of course, I don't miss Pouf at all this episode. Good riddance. It's good to see the King reunite with Komugi though. I think this their final match together. Shame he never had a chance to ever beat her in Gungi.

So much feels ;_;

What the fuck is happening with this? Why are the Subs so slow to come out?

Last week, Crunchyroll shifted back to an hour behind for the show...

..Anyway, my lips were quivering, and eyes were watery as all hell.

Ah man.....
That was a masterpiece of a episode. I couldn't help but feel sad for Meruem and Komugi at the end there. This has been a fun ride all the way to the end.

Meruem is such a changed person now...
Able to kneel and talk like that to Palm.
So the public kind of knows about this incident. Kinda sad that Netero's will is being overshadowed.
Komugi joining Meruem... playing Gungi until they died. Meruem "sleeping" on her lap at the end... this was quite the episode.

What...am i even supposed to say?...i can't think straight right now and my eyes are still all blurry.
One of best, most beautiful and amazingly written arcs (judging by preview there are only last 1-2 ''after story'' episodes left) in all anime/manga i've ever seen.Im probably one of very few people who LOVE the fact that it was so long and at moments slow paced. It gave story a big impact.

Sigh, i really need some fresh air right now.

damn amazing analysis and an yet another amazing ep by madhouse
michiru3050 said:

, did anybody notice kokoriko(a gungi technique) means King itself? This technique try to win the game by making King piece isolate. But komugi tells him this technique is Shiro(road to death) a while ago ( ep 104). Isolated king must die. But she shows him a new tactics to save king in ep 135. It means "king doesn't have to die". In reality, king didin't be killed by Netero's nuke attack.
But king counterattacked her and shows that isolated king must die after all ( by poison). Komugi finds a new counterattack and said "I'll go with you". King is not alone anymore. Meruem tells her he can't win even once(He couldn't beat kokoriko). It means Kokoriko is not shiro anymore. She saved the isolated king.

The black screen at the end has a couple meanings
The dying king has lost even his sight.
His mother named him Meruemu as "Light shining on everything". It's stated that "His en shined into the palace as if it's sunshine" and "He manipulated light particles to search Palm in a house" a while ago. He got a god-like light power at that moment. But black pages suggests that he doesn't have any light now. This is a view that Komugi was seeing from the beginning. She couldn't see any light. To her, he was just Meruem.

After all, those pages show us that he lost everything but gained what he trully wanted.
He didn't need any soldiers, palaces, countries, power, strength, even his sight(as Komugi). He just wanted to play Gungi with Komugi.

This is the same to her too. She had nothing besides Gungi. Nobody loved her and couldn't play Gungi as well as she did. She was lonely Gungi King(Queen?). But she gained Meruem.
That's why she cryed when he counterattacked her new kokoriko. She once needed to create and kill tactics on Gungi by herself. But she gained the perfect opponent and can create tactics with him(I guess to create tactics suggests to create a baby as she said kokoriko is her baby.)

The one "Light shines on everything" loved (and was loved by) was a blind girl. What a story!

They started a new(the last) game in darkness.
"1-5-1 king".
"9-5-1 king".
Then it was stopped. These two king pieces don't go anywhere anymore. Two kings (King of living things and Gungi King) are together forever.

Jesus the cheerful next episode preview which suddenly just popped up and backhanded you was very very unnecessary, wish they dropped it or at least altered it for the end of this episode, it was so out of place quickly following a heart wrenching end.

Godlike episode though.

I was surprised by myself for not crying at all during the whole ep but then in the friggin last moment "Good Night...Meruem" I couldn't hold it in T_T DEM FEEEELZ!!!

So beautiful >.< Thank you so much Mad House! I can't thank them enough for how they adapted this arc. Heavenly adaption :*)

Loved seeing Palm's denial in the beginning. It was really emotionally strong. Meruem was gonna beg her :O

The development Meruem went through is something that can't be described with words. Just divine!

Loved seeing Pouf lying there in his blood :D

But until the very end...Meruem couldn't even win against Komugi not even once. So beautiful. And the way she immediately continued playing after hearing she'll die if she stays with him! DAMN THE FEEELZ!!!

Meruem's "Komugi are u still there" was heart tearing T^T Bravo! Just Bravo! :*D

I haven't cried this much since Anohana. Maybe I cried more now and this is a damn Action Shounen. What the hell. I was even spoiled a little bit ago and I still wasn't ready. Mereum you have earned your spot of my favorites list and then some. Best antagonist I've ever seen. He started off as a cold-blooded killer and slowly but surely realized through his growing love for Komugi and playing Gungi with her that there is worth is everyone and that strength isn't the only thing that should be valued. That quote about the Gungi moves makes that scene even more beautiful. It almost seems like he was the protagonist. One of the best arcs of anything I've ever seen. The slow pacing gave it more of a epic feeling. I love how happy I felt about Pouf's death contrasted how sad I felt about the King's death. Art in anime at its finest. RIP Mereum, the King of the Chimera Ants but more human than most of us.

Absolute beautiful episode, I've only managed to cry watching anime a couple of times, this was one of those rare occasions. I can probably say Meruem finally became complete human in terms of emotion, his last gungi match with komugi was so incredibly emotional for me. I wanted him to win but either way, I'm so happy that he shared his last moments with Komugi.

Outstanding anime, so glad u chose to watch it.

This was a very sad episode. Also what was that little green bean guy? I'm worried for Gon. I wonder if he's going to be joining Meruem and Komugi to.

By the way, that Komugi's "I might not be much... etc" is an old Japanese marriage proposal.

That damn circus music ruined my mood....

Anyways, another great episode of HxH. I'm happy and sad that this arc is finally gong to be over because it felt like an eternity. HAHA, I laughed my ass off when I saw Pouf dead in the ground. He deserved to die alone.
