Seeing as the manga ended years after the anime ended would a re-make be a good idea?

The manga's long since ended, right? Then it's highly unlikely they'd give it another go unless the anime sold by the cartload last time.

With stuff like FMA:Brotherhood and Kanon (2006) I can see this becoming a good thing if done right.

With stuff like FMA:Brotherhood and Kanon (2006) I can see this becoming a good thing if done right.
I have't seen nor read Fruits, so I can't comment on the potential of its content, but FMA only got Brotherhood because the manga was still publishing, was a good seller, and they were able to synchronise their ending.

Fruit Basket is or was the top selling manga in the US at some point. The manga would be still popular enough for this to be made. It was TOKYOPOP's cash cow in ways.
