It amazes me how low my opinions were of this series before I actually picked it up. The subtle and not-so subtle motivations behind all these characters really drives this story forward.

Beautiful episode and message.

I feel like the story needs two more episodes, but what can you do. Can't wait for the finale.

Ow i understand it alright.

I understand that this show was all about raping the hardworkers, and that talent is all it matters.

I can understand sakuma losing as he even admited that he had no talent at all, I can understand wenge losing as even if he had some talent he wasnt even worth being in the top team in china.

But when we talk about the fu**** WORLD CHAMPION losing to someone who was just a scrub one year ago and is FU*** INJURED this all turns into fairy tails material

The only reason Kazama lost was just because the writer decided that we need to watch the cheesy ending when Tsukimoto finally smiles again because he can play vs Peco. Thats really all.

The hero saved the dragon from himself by slaying him :) 10/10

Talent+hard work+fun>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Super Mega hard work
Get over it you no talent scrubs.

By the way Kazama has talent but he wasn't enjoying himself, he was having fun at the end but it was to late :(

So, the Hero managed to slay (or more accurately to save) the Dragon. I liked all these symbolisms with Kazama climbing an endless mountain, Peko as the Hero trying to reach him etc.

Next time we get Hero versus Robot. I'm really looking forward to this and I'm expecting that the anime's ending will expand more on the secondary characters and the story overall in comparison to the manga's ending

Hearing the hero's theme punched me right in the heart and it felt amazing. I never watched sports anime before and this is basically the first sports related thing I have ever seen in my life, but holy cow this show is just one perfect art piece after another.

I want to see more from this studio tackling more manga like this. This is just beautiful.

No you clearly don't get it at all. The show was demonstrating the whole time that both talent and hard work are necessary to achieve greatness, but Peco brings in the third important ingredient, having fun with it truly loving what your doing, something Dragon realized a little too late. Peco changed his ways and became hardworking, so at the beginning of the match he had those two elements down. But he was getting crushed until he snapped out of it and started to have fun with it. If you've ever getten into that "zone" you know what it's like, your able to pull off stuff thats 10 times better then what youd expect youd be able to pull off.

And come on, it's an anime trying to get across a lot of character arcs in a mere 11 episodes. If it means sacrificing some logic in order to empower one of it's prevailing themes I'd say that's definitely worth it. And just the way it's presented and paced is just brilliant in my eyes. I don't see how that could ruin the show for you, massive disappointments in sports do happen afterall.

Amazing episode.

Such an epic match between Peco and Kazama ;__;
Hyuga Junpei: “Yeah… I’m confident… Because my teammates will help me out! I can shoot confidently.. because it will be okay even if I miss!”

Kagami Taiga: “I don’t know about being the bad guy or whatever. It’s only in stories where titles like that decide the loser. This is our show. We’re the ones who are writing the script.”

Man I love the development in Peco and Tsukimoto,in just 10 episodes it was done nicely.

My guess for the next match is that Tsukimoto will let Peco win, just like grandpa in his time.

Does anyone know anything about when or if the soundtrack for this series will be released? I have never been more hyped to listen to all the songs from a series like this before.

I NEED to hear the theme when Peco got serious with Kazama over and over and over again.

Kazama found something that is even better than winning, i guess he finally enjoy the game

but yeah it is ridiculous for Peco to beat Kazama, or even Wenge losing (province level players in China should be able to beat Japanese national ones)

Peko teaching life lesson one man at a time.

Seeing Kazama have fun was one the most exalting I've felt in a long time. That smile at the end was pure happiness. He got freed of his duty of winning.

The match was so great to watch. Between Kazama being as giant as Gamagori and Peko being our great hero, it was crazily fun. Now it's Peko vs Smile bitches! Hero vs the robot, game of the century!

I have a question about Peco's power-up this episode. He suddenly became a lot faster and began completely ignoring his injured knee. I'd understand if he used some sort of strategy or unusual attacks against Kazama, but no, it's just a simple power-up.

Ping Pong doesn't seem like the sort of anime to follow shounen cliches where the main guy gets completely beat up but then gets a burst of strength because he "never gives up" or needs to "protect his nakama" or some other BS. Yet that's exactly what happened in this match. Peco became stronger because... he started having fun?

Seems a bit disappointing. Please tell me what am I missing here.

Guys, Peco had the talent all along (like Sakuma said), he has always been strong/talented but, he neglected the training, underestimated himself and forgot the real meaning of playing Ping Pong. Furthermore, having fun against Kazama made him forget about his pain for the knee That's why this IS NOT an asspul by any means.

Truly an orgasmic match between peco and kazama. I think even though kazama lost he did not mind...to put it in wenge's words...he played against someone who loves oing pong, and who enjoys playing. For once kzama coukd let go of the burden of his past and fly...easily. i think that is why peco is the hero.
I loved this. I loved smikes humming an him nit even watching the match..because he knis him and peco
will have a match like in the past...any case this was great.

Yet another beautiful episode of Ping Pong. Kazama has been playing Ping Pong out of extrinsic motivation which was why he could never fly. Now that he has realized what Ping Pong truly means to him, he now knows how to enjoy Ping Pong for what it should have been to him.
