Love triangles are fine as a way to create drama. Just please don't be the only god damn thing happening in the show.

If it's handled well, I don't mind love triangles. Ofc, I prefer M+W+M.
I especially love the ones which have a plot - twist resulting in the girl choosing the one who everyone thought she wouldn't pick.

I don't dislike love triangles, I dislike forced plot-lines. So if they're nonsensical, unnecessary or only added to add drama I do tend to dislike them. But that's only because I hate bad plot-lines, not because of love triangles in particular.

I don't like love-triangles in any kind of media so there you go. Despise them in movies, animes, literature. Pretty much everywhere.

I actually kind of like them. I use to dislike them but after watching a few of them they have grown on me and depending on the actual anime they can be really good.

Love triangles make sense and are entertaining. There is always unrequited love for someone , I think it is accurate to have love triangles

I hate them. It's never an acceptable solution, they are not stable. And in most anime worlds it is not seen as acceptable from the point of view of culture, mentality and society. And often they lead to destruction of bonds between characters. That's why I hate them. And love squares are even worse.

Hate, love relationship with love triangles lol. They are bad for my heart QQ. Makes for great drama if written well (Honey and Clover for example). I like shipping couples but HC made me forget about the shipping because it was that good >_>.

I hate all romance drama bullshit. Especially love triangles. in 80% of them you can tell who the guy's going to end up with, making it pointless. I just want to see the couple get together with no outer problems.

Like the manga Bitter Virgin. They already had a great drama between the characters, but they still throw in a pointless love triangle in there for no reason. Really brought down the manga for me.

I typically hate romance in anime. I try to avoid it unless I really like the plot or the couple they are shipping.

That being said. I am generally fond of harem animes with the male being the one with the harem if I do watch romance. I like them because I already know the deal going in, and I can choose which one I want him to be with.

Now, love triangles, I like them if that is only a minor plot element (plus I have to like at least one of the girls though it would be even better if I like both), and that is not what the whole series is about. Then, even in that instance, I only like it if there is a good chance he will choose the one who I want him to be with. I am just petty like that.

It depends on the specific anime/characters. I usually like them if the characters are well fleshed out.

However, I don't like as much where it's two guys/girls going after the same girl/guy. In general I find it annoying.

I really love true love triangles though where it's like Person A likes person B who likes person C (or more). Nagi Asu type fuels me. I love dohecadrons like that. Unrequited angst, ending up with someone they didn't expect. Yessssssss.

Depends on how obvious they make the real pairing, and how I feel about it.

For example, I dropped Infinite Stratos Season 1 on the episode before the last one, just because I [finally] realized Charlotte wasn't the girl he was going to get.

I don't like the idea that two persons have to sacrifice a third person in order to be happy. How can they be happy after that? I think it's completely insane.

Female-female-male is okay.

Let's be honest - the entire romance genre, outside of a few outliers, is unrealistic wish fulfillment for people that don't know or haven't experienced real love.

That doesn't necessarily mean it isn't enjoyable or that it's bad.

True this. But the ones that do stand out are the ones that has lots of realism to it.

PS. Not a debate, just adding to your statement :)

Not really. If used nicely I might even really like it. A lot of anime would be quite painful to watch if I were to hate them.

I agree - and interestingly enough, "realism" when it comes to romance in anime doesn't always mean it needs to be in a school / real life setting and follow close to reality. I would herald Spice & Wolf as a "natural" or "realistic" feeling romance just because of the interactions between Holo and Kraft.

I completely agree. The emotion I felt during that show was real and plotted. It wasn't far-fetched by any means.

PS. I'm still having a hard time listening to the OP of season 1 without all that nostalgia hitting me like a train.

Love triangles are pretty damn cliche and predictable. But, if it is handled very well and the drama works with it, I'm into it.

I HATE love triangles, they are stressful, annoying, loaded with misunderstandings,
and I usually end up stopping anime with them. Rumbling Hearts was the only one I finished,
and enjoyed even though I hated the ending.
