It seems that whatever decade people grew up in they wish they could go back to it (unless there obsessed with a certain time period like the roman empire or something) . People say things like " I miss the 60s I hate how music sounds now" " man things were much simpler in the 1990s I wish I could go back" " Kids these days, they never acted like this when I was a kid" " "It was a lot easier to get a job when I was a kid" ect.

Since the world population is growing every year, does that mean that the more recent decades(2000s-Future) will be missed more than the 20th centuries decades ever were? Will people want to go back to the decade they grew up in more than any other decade in the past or is this really the worst generation this time.

I'm not sure but I think this is a New thing( last 150 years) , I don't recall people in history missing the decade they grew up in, they seemed more interested in making there mark in the present , not reverting back to how it was. They wanted change.

I have to assume this will be true, everything is like triple the price it use to be now then it was it your parents generation assuming your any wheres from 15-25. Like used cars and apartments/houses. My parents use to talk about all the time when they were 16 they'd buy cars for like 500bucks and drove that perfectly fine for years, now a 500$ car isn't worth anything but the scrap metal cause if it even starts thats probably all it can do lol.

unemployment, wealth inequality, natural disasters (like climate change or global warming), pollution, inflation (prices going up), overpopulation will only get worse unless every government (and the people so vote wisely) in the world do something about it

90's were nice.

It'd also be nice to not have to go into debt in order to attend a university.

I couldn't live without my rights and the benefits of technology, despite the fact I'd like time to go back a bit. And space exploration is too appealing. I'll let the past be the past, for better or worse

While things are never perfect, this fascination with better times is blind ignorance mixed with nostalgia for a "simpler time". You think in 1929 people were not saying "fuck the stock market and all our problems... the 10's were better bro". Be realistic.

We are in an age of information. Everything is at a click of a button and the bad stuff comes just as fast as the good stuff. So we can see a more realistic picture of the shit we are doing to ourselves and others. Even the planet.

(this is aimed at no one in particular and realize I was born in 1990)

"Dude like the 90's were the best fo sho" yeah well you were 5. Of course playing with your legos and sipping your sippy cup while watching Rugrats was nice. If you had a good childhood why wouldn't you want to go back to that time...Before you take on responsibility and see the world for what it is.

Sure it's not limited to our generation who talk about better times. However if anyone looks back and is realistic they will learn they are just being overly nostalgic and ignorant to the problems the world was facing at that time.

Chances are in simpler times (centuries ago) most of us wouldn't have the leisure to complain because we'd be busy sustaining our existence. Our life expectancy will probably be much shorter too. I am fortunate and proud of the achievements we have made in medicine and technology. While it seems cool to imagine how life would have been back then, the fact of the matter is that life for the average person wasn't as glorified as it seems.

The current generations has no discipline. They get away with everything because our laws are punishing the way parents parent their children.
I don't wish to go back to the 90s. I like the 21st century.
I just wish our laws on morality didn't change so much since my time.

The people who talk like that are usually the same people who are blind to how much they themselves have changes, and just pin it on everything around them changing instead.

Or they are just nostalgic.

Usually this are romantic bullshit of childhood and young age. When you are a child or even a teenager you see everything as more exciting than what they really are.

One thing that they are right though is the one about things being more simple. Or better say more calm.
It seems that despite our tech our governments and bankers overlords have managed to make us work even more, have free relaxing time even less, and put a tone of bills and taxes in our head to stress about we didn't use to have.
People had time to go easy in the past. Now everyone is out of time and you can't even breath without having some tax over you. If we combine that with sensationalist media that spread fear about terrorist, rapist, rapist pedophiles etc outside of your door and the government putting cameras everywhere and scanning the leaving shit out of you because you decided to take the plane and go visit your folks you start to understand that today things have become so unnatural it cause extreme stress.

ionno sumwer were magic is n fighting n wat not
its a romanticist ideal but wuld want 2 b killed by magic or a spear
evrytin feels like a game rite now would b easy, normal, hard depending on wer u r n wat ur status(wealth/influence/etc) is.
me c lots of ppl die but dats just nother normal day.
me rlly prefers it bttr f lik tins advance to where adroids or dolls/adept vr or fighting is round since least me'll have sometin to keep me busy with somtin to play with or surviving.

really depends on who it is since the ideals and wants.
cant really judge a poor person if youre rich
cant really know why a person who knows war wants peace or vice versa
like the difference between a XO doctor and a janitor.
differences n monetary or momentary values
though its not realistic or its just stupid the internet would be the only place where wanting magic is normal.

or smth

The 90s...I miss them, but I wouldn't go back to them.

Gaming was still fairly niche and almost everything that came out was good.
Hip-hop didn't all sound the same. (Yeah, I said it.)
Gas didn't cost 4 fucking dollars a gallon for regular.

If there were anything I'd go back for, it'd be to experience Slayers again for the first time.

Social media might have made everything way more convenient, life became way less social because of it.

I'd prefer a world without it.

Nostalgia is a sweet trap and I often fall victim to it, especially when things aren't going too well for me. I do treasure my memories though and I know I'll fondly recall them all my life but not at the expense of hoping for a better future.
