I'm 24 and no one cares. Once you get out of High School, it really doesn't matter anymore.
True, it actually doesn't matter at all but in high school you always feel like your being judged for everything. Once college happens nobody gives a fuck anymore.

My father doesn't understand why I just spend so much time watching cartoons my age.(He usually jokes when saying that but I am planning to show him Higurashi or something)
My brother likes anime
A close cousin of mine likes anime
Nah dont show him Higurashi he will probably think bad about it. Fate/Zero is a better choice.

Yeahh..... I'm Jealous of the people whose parents actually find anime interesting. My oldest brother first started me on Inuyasha and ever since then I've been hooked. And now my brother is always saying stuff about the genres I watch. My other older brother called anime "Porn", my mom calls them cartoons and my dad just doesn't say anything except when I say "Hold on" when they tell me to do something because I'm in the middle of a episode. Then he says "There's a pause button for a reason". I'm tempted to find a anime and show my dad what I watch. I can't show my mom cause she'll be like "So how is this different from cartoons" and yeah that wouldn't turn out well..

My mom shares the common understanding of anime, seeing it as childish and such, nothing but negative sh*t.
My sis and bro both watch anime and my lil bro watches alot of cartoons as he is 4 years old.
Most of my friends watch it too except for one who we are constantly bugging about it whenever he brings it up.

Its time to do it now and do it loud

My family members dont have any significant opinion. They just know I do, and don't care about it.

However some of my friends will still view me as an uninformed person who only cares about cartoons.

My mom asked me who my girlfriend is while I'm watching DxD. I showed her a scene of naked Rias.

Since then, my mom scheduled a frequent psychotherapy for me. Just earlier I saw her browsed in Google for the nearest asylum, while crying hardly.
HOW TO SAVE ANIME IN THREE SIMPLE STEPS

  1. To have Mars of Destruction, Skelter Heaven, and Pupa properly adapted in TV series form by Madhouse
  2. To have Inferno Cop properly adapted in TV series form by Bones, director: Urobuchi Gen
  3. An anime crossover of Mushishi x ARIA x Haibane Renmei.

Should even one of the above conditions cannot be done, anime is still at risk.

My mother is against Disney (meaning everything having to do with Disney, the man, the movies, EVERYTHING), so when I was little, the first cartoons I watched were Miyazaki films, like Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service. Also, when I was two a Japanese college student came to live with us for a year, followed the next year by another Japanese college student (and so on until I was 16).
So I have always been exposed to anime and j-pop. I watched Sailor Moon growing up had Sailor Pluto and Sailor Venus barbie dolls, numerous Ghibli stuffed animals, and even a Sailor Moon wand and a Cardcaptors book of cards.
However, my mother was never very into anime herself and now whenever I try discussing a show with her, specifically when I get into the convoluted plot synopsis, she tunes out and doesn’t really care. I think she worries that I spend too much time watching episode after episode instead of noticing time passing and taking advantage of being young (those are almost her words, actually). But I also think her pointed disinterest stems in part from the vast amount of people who are only exposed to Japanese culture through anime and so have this slightly glorified/romanticized idea of what Japanese culture is in their head. She’s really disgusted by the people get so obsessed with anime and what they understand to be Japanese culture and the whole fangirl-type admiration. Her mixed feelings about anime, I think, are in a large part due to the way anime is consumed by western, European-based societies. But I also think that my family, being an immigrant family themselves from the Middle East, can easily pick out how you are supposed to conduct yourself in a different culture, which I don’t think many Americans are versed in or ever have to practice. So the danger of being exposed to one type of media from a different culture but never actually interacting with the people of that culture is this subtle thing that lulls people into a certain way of thinking that is then taken for granted. I think my parents could see that anime is from this little group of people who actually don’t really fit in with the whole traditional ideas of the culture and so what is emphasized in anime is the break from tradition and an embrace of individualism. I grew up in a culture where if someone older than you entered the room you have to stand up and bow a little bit and then wait for them to be seated before you sit down again, and you never disagree with an opinion of someone older than you. I grew up with parents from a culture that has a few similarities to Japanese culture, so I think the way my parents view anime is with this awareness of cultural nuances.
If you’ve ever seen the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding, my father is the father in that story who claims that everything in modern society originally came from the Ancient Greeks. Only for us it’s Persia. Once I showed my dad a little clip of anime and he immediately claimed that Persians did it first – his proof being thousands-of-years-old picture books that tell the epic tale of the Persian kings in rhyming verse, painstaking painted with paintbrushes made of a single hair. If I try and talk about the plot points of a certain anime, my dad immediately claims that the creators obviously took inspiration from Persian myths. The mecha stuff stumped him at first but he quickly recovered and alluded to the constant wars of the Middle East.
But on a serious note, I think my dad is sad that his culture is so ignored by the world and feels like it’s fading because I am not experiencing what he experienced growing up and instead am watching all this Japanese stuff in Japanese and my Farsi isn’t as good as it should be, and I’m not interested in the Iranian soap operas. I think he just doesn’t want me to forget what I come from. I think my mom feels the same way.

I only got one friend who watch anime like me! We share and discuss about anime when we're alone most of the time.
For the others, they all know I watch them, but nothing more. They don't even know what they really look like and etc. They know it, that's it, we don't talk about it (because they're not interested)

For my mom, I'm really surprise! :D This year, I began to talk about anime with her. First, I was shy (IDK why though. I feel stupid now thinking about it - why should I be ashamed of this ???), but she was actually really open and curious! So now that she knows that I like Japenese entertainment, whenever she hears Japenese music, see anime, etc, she notes it for me! So it's great! She doesn't watch them of course (not for her), but she's ok to talk about them and I like that :3

I had to check to see if I responded to this already.

Well my mom and dad don't care as long as I'm happy
My grandmother listens when I'm talking to her about it but she obviously doesn't give a damn either
My sister knows I watch it because I tell her when I'm going to watch it. And she doesn't care
My brother in law knows I watch it because he is also an anime lover and gives me suggestions on what to watch
My niece knows I watch it because I watch anime when I"m supposed to be babysitting her lol but she's 3 so she doesn't know what anime is or isn't
My brothers know I watch it, in fact one of them even has a profile on here and suggested Ben-To to me

My friends either don't really care and/or think I'm crazy to sit around watching anime all day. But they can kiss my ass. Anime rocks!

This is the one topic that makes the blessing of anime seem like a curse. My friends think anime is weird and so does almost everyone I know so it's hard to find someone who can relate, and that's why I love this website so much! Sure, you can love anime, you can cry for them and be happy for them, but you can't talk to others about it even if it's your favourite thing. Kinda sucks in a way but oh well

My mother just thinks its a waste of time.

My siblings don't care.

My friends don't know.

My father thinks that I'm a pedophile because of it, and constantly complains that all the girls look like they're 12. Pretty sure he hates all Japanese people too, always whines about them being weird.

I got friends who watch anime, like I do. The friends, who don't watch anime, don't care tbh. For my family, Mom and Dad don't care, Eldest brother used to watch a good amount, but now watches less, older brother watch some, older sister used to watch, and younger sister watch some, but not alot, mostly play games.
