Sorry to ruin the mood but I think this anime is surrounding the circumstances of a massive earthquake in Tokyo based on tremendous amounts of weed.

Even thru I think its 10/10 because I like weed.

Haven't cried this much since episode 18 of Clannad AS. Overall a great series, albeit just a little inconsistent. Episode 8 and 11 were absolutely brilliant.

It's a strong 8/10 for now - might bump it up to a 9 someday.

I liked how they dealt with the ending and I especially liked how the "epilogue" is portrayed through the photos in the ending song.

People pretty much summed up what I was going to say....

Especially during all the Yuuki scenes of him and Mirai growing up. ;-;
Then I started thinking of my own jerk-off brother and started crying. I couldn't imagine how that would feel. 9/10

i think the parents were a bit too understanding, i guess it fits anime, but we all know in real life........ they'd be in dispair and probably blame anyone and everyone, especially because its the son, the male. just didn't feel like there was enough despair for asian family.

Perfect catharsis to a very good show. It almost makes me forget a lot of the issues I had with the middle section of the series, and I'm pretty sure a year from now, I'll ask myself why I gave it an 8 instead of a 9, but it's the right score. Those wondering why it didn't focus on the parents enough need to step back and understand that the show is a character piece. They had 11 episodes, and smartly made everything about Mirai instead of overextending itself. As a result, the overall pace of the show was brilliant. The only problems I had were a couple instances of scripting and the character design.

One of the best shows of quite a lack luster year.

I liked it, 10/10 for me... (I give out easy 10's) :D Hm, this is actually one of the anime endings that I couldn't predict... That was pretty good. I liked it. Sad though. Well, it does sort of teach you to just move on, don't let something bring you down, just... Move on.

The background music for this episode was excellent. The show overall was good. I think they could of done a lot of things to make it better, but it was still good in general. 7/10 for me. There were some parts that annoyed me.

The parents were rather flat characters also, since we see so little of them and they behave so conveniently at the end.

Indeed. They cried a little but overall, they looked like as if Yuukis death didn't bother them at all.
Hell, I cried even more than his mother did (on screen). I would have died of sorrow in her stead.
I think you're wrong as parents usually love their children equally, maybe not totally but not to the point of disdaining the other (and yes, one of my aunts lost her older child). But that was not my point. My point is that the show is Mirai-centered, she did cry only a little on screen, but we can all assume she cried A LOT in the arms of her husband, himself shedding manly tears at the same time.

I cried the whole episode.

The only thing which disappointed me (a little, very little) is that it would have been even better if they talked again of the survey her teacher give her at the beginning of the series, about what she thinks she'll be doing in ten years.

8/10.

Here we go, last episode, and I'm not all that late : D (4 last episodes almost in a row)
First of all, Come on Mirai, don't get a mental breakdown now, please.
That would make her seem pretty pathetic (in my eyes).
So, how long is she gonna keep halucinating that Yuuki's there? Oh I see, he's fading away now.
Come on Mirai, not a breakdown now thank you.. And not Mirai's mother either, don't get a breakdown..

Hoo-boy everyone blames themselves for Yuuki being dead.
I'm not sure, there might be something wrong with me, but instead of feeling a bit sad during the hospitalscene in this episode, I'm more like "Oh just stop crying already, and do something productive.."

Anyway, I'll give this as much as a 7/10, and I give it that "much" because the animation was pretty good, and the OP/ED were great. And of course that it was pretty realistic. Also, great bgm music too. Although that hospitalscene that I mentioned, almost made me give it a 6 instead. (Hey you know what? It gets a 7, and there's the 70% possibility of a mag7 earthquake in Tokyo. Bawahahahah.... Yeah I'm that finny...)

Now that I've watched the last episode.. I have this really itchy feeling >.> Wonder what it is..
To be honest, I was actually hoping that someone would actually die..
Maybe I'd been more satisfied with one of their parents (or both) dying instead?
Well I wouldn't know anyway, since it didn't happen.
Oh and another ED song that would be more fitting in the end here, would be "Let it out" with Miho Fukuhara, also the current ending of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. (Just youtube it or something if you don't know which one it is)

Let's see.. some final notes ...wait, it should be "some final quotes"
Ah right, this one's good
kashim said:
And so one of the most mediocre anime series this year ended. Shame Mirai didn't die. 6/10 for hit-n-miss animation and script.
Althouh I actually gave it a 7, and during some moments, it was actually pretty good.
This one's good too

...Is it bad I laughed?

Anyway, I think these disaster-based series are a good idea, I wouldn't mind seeing more scenarios, save for the ghostly theme. I mean, hallucinations are fine, but Yuuki seemed more ghost-like than delusion.
I quite agree to this.

And a last note from myself, I really don't get the whole getting emotional over people close to you dying. Edit: Never mind that, pretend I didn't write it.
Another Edit: I remembered something when I read ClearSinz post below this one.
This was not one of the better series this season.
That's all, kthnxbai
Edit, again: I just remembered that my prediction from the first episode came true x) I have now modified this post so that it no longer contains a certain person who died.

Great series. It is nice to see a change from all the other kind of stuff coming out these days. Glad to see some more realistic characters for once too. The show did have some problems such as Mirai's realization taking too long but I thought most of it was very well paced and engaging. They got some great emotions through in this last episode as well. 8/10

This series did a fantastic job taking a more realistic approach compared to most shows now a days, but the ending was so sad and tragic but at the same time beautiful,I felt sorry for everything thats happened in mirai's family from the begginning to the end from sticking by her little brother yuki

and I even cried more throughout this series when Mari was looking for her daughter, but too bad Yuuki sacrificed himself to protect his older sister *sniff*

This final episode is much more emotionally intense than the last three together, a truly brilliant ending for a show that had great ideas but couldn't execute everything well enough. Thanks to this last episode, I'm gonna bump this from a 4/10 to 6/10.

Ok to everyone arguing about the whole parents didn't cry enough thing. If you didn't notice they kinda fast forwarded a little bit in the episode to a month later after the incident. So they had plenty of time to be sad. By my count around 3 weeks, if you are an adult and its been 3 weeks its about time to start slowly moving on because if you dont the past will end up slowly eating away at you.

BTW i dont know how you can give a 4, or 5 out of 10 of this anime. That is basically calling this show crap. Just because it didn't develop to your liking doesn't make the show bad. Step away from your opinions and rate on a overall anime level.

Actually, if series ended with 10 episodes and you know at 10th episode it was like "Yuuki is dead > Whooops! He is not! > He is dead! > Oh, silly us! He is over there! > He is dead! > NOT! > Onee-chan, I'm dead." I'd probably rate anime a 6 because I was quite irritated with director's choices, you could almost imagine him writing on a paper "Conflicts; DONE! Surprise factors; DONE! Shocking events; OVER-DONE!" and chuckling devilishly.

Drawings were not so detailed, almost feeling sketchy most of the time, OP/ED were not thaaat catchy but OSTs were very well-done, characters were awesomely created because you could feel their depression, happyness and worries.

Thanks god anime had a 11th episode, thanks god they pumped drama factor to the maximum level by the ending, thus a shiny 9/10 to anime by making me cry the hell out of me *It was not one kind of "I was caught off the guard!" kind of thing, it really made me cry*, keeping me wondering what happened on next episode all he time and enjoying show throughoutly.

Also BSS for the win. :D

It's finally over...

after 11 episode of this so realistic anime, one of the best anime this summer finally over.

a pretty much good ending with the onozawa family and mirai finally could move on and continue their lives. Yuuki's flashback fom baby, Mirai giving the present and the reunion of Mirai and her mother almost made me cry but for some reason i couldn't cry for yuuki's farewell. Maybe it's just that BONES too overused Yuuki's death as a tearjerker.

Nice ending though, i'll give 8/10

n.b. : for some reason i wanted to see Mirai and that robot-otaku pairing lol
