This, i haven't watched High School DxD cuz i don't really like this kind of manga, but in some rare exceptions, ecchi works well like Sora no Otoshimono, i guess it's pretty much the same for HS DXD. I have nothing against ecchi when its here for laugh but when a serious anime or manga has ecchi it just ruins it. Edit : I know Sora no and DxD are pretty much the same kind of anime but i watched Sora No cuz my brother told me that it was really funny. |

| I'll echo what certain poster has said about execution of ecchi in anime. There's no reason why sexual comedy has to be that way. You could very easily build a scene full of penis jokes around a horny guy consistently teases his love interest till she gets horny herself, but no, we always have to get the hapless MC barging in on the girls. Which is the other problem with ecchi -- it's the same tired old jokes over and over again. How many times can you watch an idiot protagonist fall on top of a girl and grope her without realizing what he's touching? Is there no one in Japan capable of coming up with a sex joke that wasn't so mindnumbingly tired when Love Hina did it fifteen years ago? Are the producers just trying to save money by recycling old scripts? And yeah, Rail Wars was just awful in that regard. |

YOU ARE THE MAN! -ahem- however I do agree there are both sides to ecchi in a sense that there is shit ecchi and amazing ecchi with a nice plot.
