Frankly I'm disappointed a little. Sure, still very emotional (Sahara...) but the trick with forfeiting the game and oh- some problems with turning the electricity off was a dirt cheap one. Ok, time for a new game...

Many of their troubles could have been avoided, if they just had moved their heads slightly. Sahara :( New cards look cool.

I was wondering how Kaiji would get screwed over. Should've thought about it more. Anyways, great episode. Looking forward to the next gamble.

Though the theory of the psychological blind spot makes sense, I was still a bit disappointed in how that ended. Let's see what the next gamble brings.

I am anything but disappointed. Listen, we all knew Kaiji was going to get screwed out of the money since there are still 11 episodes left in the show. The only question was, how?

This was a MUCH MUCH better reasoning then just saying he took too long and that the tickets were expired since it accomplishes the task of wanting us to see Kaiji win even more as well as making us hate the enemies even more than we already do.

I personally thought this episode was amazing and the speech that the old man had after Kaiji met him was quite powerful.

Can't wait for E-card next week!

I kinda thought Kaiji would win this time, get his money. And get addicted to these kinds of gambles. Turned out he just got screwed over, and had to start from point zero again....

Man that guy has the worst luck!

This was a great connector between the end of Brave men Road (which i was expecting Kaiji not to win but Glass Starway was genious) and a new dirty card Game, E Card.

Do you know if says anything about the OP? For some reason the song doesn't sound that great when The Blue Hearts are singing it so I was looking for one featuring Kaiji.

Very contrived. Have to say I was a little mad at the traps they used this time. The only thing worse would have been if there actually was a net.

Hmmm. The WAY Kaiji got screwed over really isn’t the focus point of the episode at all though...

The cruel irony of Sahara’s death in spite of the fact he had (won?), Kaiji’s isolation and despair in witnessing Sahara’s death, the fact that this gamble is setup so that you can't win on wits and effort alone, but rather the fact that only those who have gone through the depths of despair can see the path to salvation, and finally the chairman’s talk about how the poor will continue to support the rich (echoing the basis of capitalism itself?). To me these points are a lot more controversial and intriguing – and are the basis to what the episode is all about.

How Kaiji is screwed over is meant to be cheap logic (I think Kaiji even says so himself), that’s the whole point – The scene showing how Kaiji is screwed over is merely used as a reason to move the story along to the next gamble, to push him into fighting these people until the very end.

I totally agree with bigjig. The episode's focus wasn't how he was screwed over. I actually like how they did it though. They are, after all, thugs; who would expect them to play fair or not try to squirm out of paying him his money? I didn't find it lacking in consistency, and it was a much better twist than him simply running out of time. And it put Tonegawa in contrast with the old guy. Tonegawa, with his fishy logic, was just being evil and saving a buck. He suddenly seems like a relatively small fry to this new villain who in the name of fairness is giving Kaiji another chance.

There is nothing about this show that I can complain about. Probably the best anime I've ever seen. And does anyone else find it ironic that this site's spell check doesn't recognize the word anime? Well, I guess they're just using a generic spell checker for it, but still.

That was an interesting episode. Sahara dying kinda pissed me off, and then that random glass stairway was, well, random. I understand how they could have not seen it, but still... I thought it was cool, but could have been done a bit better.
And what a cheap trick by Tonegawa. Just wonder how he got in that room, unless the elevators in the hotel actually did work...

Quite good episode but the series could be shorter. If they shortened 'emo' scenes it wold be better for the series, I think. The boss's monologue at the end was really good though.

I once said this show was a little predictable in that you know Kaiji has to survive 26 episodes, and you know he's going to draw the short stick again and again until that final gamble. So "Predictable."

I am a liar.

And Tonegawa is full of crap.

Good conclusion of the previous arc and set up for the next arc.

Another great episode (I never get tired to say this about this anime =P).
Sahara's death was really unexpected to me, since I was thinking he would play against Kaiji in the final game.
I'm really curious about this new game. Hope it's not like rock-paper-scissors =P

So the people who fell really died?
Or was there some kind of supporting net that helped them?
Either way, I am very much disappointed about Ishida and Sahara's death.

I knew he wouldn't get the money, there are still quite a few episodes left, but I thought it would be because they would have expired, not that they'd use his attempt to forfeit the match against him, especialy not after seeing that they didn't cut off the power since it's obviously cheating... still the air pressure took me by surprise...

RAINBOW BRIDGE !!! XD

Total absurd in this episode, starting with the above, then air pressure (it wasn't so high there!), then gollum-like people, then this childish evilness of Tonegawa and all-time favourite - inner monologues of Kaiji... >.<
At least they got off these silly metaphors they use all the time.
Not like i'm anti-kaiji person, but it's getting more and more stupid with every episode, especially when the rock-paper-scissors ended. That part was actually quite clever.

Such an obvious trap... ''Let's play a game where you could win an unthinkable load of money, which you know nothing about and that I know everything. Oh, and I won't tell you what happen if you lose.''
Kaiji is forever a slave of his system...
