I don't think it is the typically sad anime that make people cry but just an essence of sadness present. I've spoken to people who have emotionally broken down 3 episodes in to Madoka Magica(worrying since i'm related to them by blood) but I haven't cried while watching an anime. I've experienced the tearing up situation during depressing scenes but I just press pause, give myself the good old "You're not gonna cry" pep talk and then i'm fine.
Life is like a world-wide play, you may not get the role you want but you still play your part.

Yes because that's the 'best justification' for giving those shows a 10/10. Its like,

Me: What's so good about those shitcakes man?

Your normal crying bitch : Oh, I cried and cried at every scene. It was so fuckin' sad. I swear I had an acute loss of body fluids after finishing those shows. I'm off to cry some more again.

Fucking a'. I CRIED TO DIS ANIME 10/10 BEST ANIME EVAR. Oh how emotions cloud a person's judgment. Why do you think shitshows like Clannad have a high score?

The one anime that made me tear up was Texhnolyze's last ep. Though that is an extremely rare gem among the endless shit anime out there.

I've gotten watery eyes and on the verge of full tears in quite a few series. They aren't always sad moments either. Sometimes they are the bittersweet or extremely happy moments, etc. These are just really emotional moments that give you the extreme "feels."

As for full tears dripping down my face: Clannad AS, AnoHana, and the Ef Memories/Melodies are the only three/four series' that I can think of right now that got me.

Though, just because you haven't cried during an anime doesn't mean you are cold or an emotionless bastard, lol. Everyone cries for different reasons over different things.

Thinking back, there are only 2 anime that I've legit shed a manly tear for, Angel beats and AnoHana. There are dozens that were close runner-ups but only 2 that made the cake.

Depends on the build up of the anime really. At most I usually only get teary eyed but in Clannad,

i've only shed a tear once while watching anime, and that was during this scene of summer wars.

i'm not sure why, there was just something about that scene that got to me. most anime are way too over the top emotional to make me feel such a way.

The tragedy ones have made me drop fat ones (tears, not poos). So yea... Clannad after story with *that*double whammy and of course the tragic back stories behind the main characters of angel beats have made a grown man cry. The only other time I've cried in my adult life so far is when I heard a close friend of mine had jumped off the 6th floor of a building.

In those anime cases though I can't help but think Key/Visual art were milking them (again, tears, not milk) from my ducts... In the end the tragedy was done well so I didn't feel that they were taking advantage of the whole setup to make those anime into "epic masterpieces".

I get tears in my eyes over touching moments be it anime, books, manga, whatever. Depending. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Just depends on how immersive the work was to me personally.

Elfen Lied made me incredibly sad I will not lie about that, however I wasn't reduced to tears.

I've only ever shed tears for one film and no it's not an anime, it's none other than The Green Mile.

I don't usually cry with animes or sad animes.
I'm trying to remember one where I did something like this but I can't find one right now. But if I've cried then it was only a tear because then it's impossible I can't remember it.
For example, yesterday I watched Elfen Lied and I remember all the comments were "how sad, I'm crying" but I was "meh, ok". Maybe it's because I haven't liked this anime but I don't know.

I weep a lot when something really sad happens in an anime.
Can't really turn on or off the empathy I get when watching drama unfold.

Maybe because they just felt like crying? I mean, there's nothing wrong with that. I cried like a baby with AnoHana, Angel Beats, Clannad and stuff because I just couldn't stop myself from doing it.

If someone doesn't at least tear up a bit while watching Hotaru no Haka(Grave of the Fireflies) they're not human or mentally ill.

Hi.

I watched it expecting the feels train, it never came. Dunno why, it just did nothing for me. Maybe it's because I disliked the two of them, they were annoying.

It's not like I can't tear up watching Anime either, I did often...

All exaggerations aside(on my part) I can understand this.

If the characters are found annoying or disliked to any extent it's difficult to empathize with them in any form of media(anime/movies/books etc..) even applicable to real life and it's a simple as that.

It tore me up fiercely when I first watched it though but that was back in '89. Last time I watched it was about 10 years ago and I still teared up a bit.

Do people really cry when they read sad stories? Watch sad movies? Hear sad songs? If you can believe that they do cry to those media, why should anime be any different?

Well, no, not really cry, but I did let a few tears while watching Clannad and Angel Beats..But it doesn't really have to be sad anime, just emotionally driven. Good example is Nagi no Asukara, which I found great.

But seriously there is nothing to worry about, everyone is different and the same... if you know what I mean....

It was sad, but I can't really say it did anything beyond making me feel bad for 20 minutes afterwards. Personally this movie receives too much melodramatic praise, all I ever see is people going "omg I locked myself away for 40 dayz" or "i hate life..i hate humanity..." or "i cnt ever be happy again" or "my smile was forever stolen by this movie :"((((((((."

Especially hate when it's from westerners who think anime is bad yet call this the pinnacle of animated tragedy when it's a far cry from such.

Everytime I come accross a picture of Angel Beats, Clannad, Or Anohana I see people always comment " cried so much" or " the feels ". And I always question myself if they really did cry or they are just exaggeratting or trying to be cool to fit in. I did watch all 3 of those anime and many others and I admit they are very sad but I dont even get the urge to tear up or anything. Only time I cried watching an anime was when DBZ ended on tv back when I was like 8 or 9 years old lol. So either I'm one cold bastard or these people trippin'. What do you guys think? Did you cry for real?

I didnt cry to any of those but Kanon 2006, Ef - A Tale of Melodies and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 all got me at some point.

It doesn't make you a wuss or anything to cry at stuff that moves you. Normally if you have some sort of personal attachment or can relate to the thing in question you are more likely to cry. At least that's how it is for me anyway.

I have cried a lot at the last episode of Angel Beats, but I don't think It's bad If an Anime make you cry. It means that It was so good that you got attached to the characters and when something happens to them you become sad.

The end of Angel Beats made me tear up and feel really depressed for a few hours, but otherwise I don't think I've ever cried from watching an anime. Not even Clannad, strangely enough.
