Yet another beautiful episode. Still, life is never easy ;.;
Seems like some disaster coming soon according to Ginko damn. The shells has their voices....

I just love the way Mushishi portrays its atmosphere. The red tide reminded me of War of the Worlds in some ways. Anyways, great episode again. Glad no one died/sacrificed whatever.

Really beautiful :*)

That Red Sea was so creepy.

The story with Sakichi and how his wife was eaten by the shark was really sad ;_;

Loved how he shared the pearl with everyone. Such a nice person.

And the best part of the ep for me. The Birds flying out of the shells at the end.

Soooo beautiful >.< And the OST was heartwarming as usual :)

One of my favorite episodes from the franchise. Loved how everything tied up to each other. Also, the visuals were great. The amount emotions in it were spot on too. Just enough dramatization to give it power while retaining the trademark subtly Mushishi is known for. Needless to say, this episode gets a 10/10 from me. :D

Agreed!

I dropped a few tears when the man asked the elder if he and Mina could move back to the village. It was touching how in the end he forgave and learned to move on, even though it took awhile to get there.

Nice episode. Ginko senses another mushi phenomenon.

Yadokaridori or Saezurigai, a mushi that lives inside the sea shells once they sense impending disaster at sea.
Listening to their song cause one to forget how to speak..

Damn.. How he lost his wife and now this red tide; resembling the death even from 10 years ago.. Sad, very sad..

Those "bird" mushi looks nice. But OSTs in the end are always nicer!

Another great episode.
It's always interesting to see what the Mushi are capable of understanding and doing. They can either be the savior or the bane of the people.

I noticed they never truly discovered the mystery behind the red sea. They say it was a large shark, but after seeing what the 'red sea' was capable of, it doesn't seem like it could just be a shark.

Got dem feels when the father finally asked to return and that ending scene was just as beautiful as the first episodes ending scene.
Touch me, you filthy casual~

@Ragix: The first disaster in the past was indeed a shark attack. The second one that they were dealing with in the present was a Red Tide, which is actually a real thing that can be just as dangerous in real life as was shown in the episode: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_tide

This was a nice episode, I particularly liked the scene in which those bird-like mushi left the seashells, it was just beautiful. Also, I am still amazed by how fantastic the OP is, it fits the series perfectly and it definitely became one of my favourite.
If i were to have a complaint about Zoku Shou, it'd probably be that Gink still hasn't shown off his detective skills. The moments where Ginko investigates the effects of mushi and then tries to solve them are some of the highlights of the 1st season and these 2 episodes were lacking this aspect.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

This episode was a lot better than the first one. While I was happy with the way the season started, it did feel weak but I didn't mention it in the first ep discussion.

Ep 2 was simple but beautiful. The mushi keep themselves protected while looking out for their comrades by chirping to let them know of the coming danger. The man who lost his wife comes to terms and rejoins the village and helps protect them. I mentioned this during S1 but I love how the focus isn't on the abilities of the mushi per say. It's more on how they affect the humans around them and in turn how the humans interact with each other.
-Nothing can stay unchanged. Even so, can you still keep on loving this place?

-Be still my soul; when change and tears are past, all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

I completely agree, this episode was much better than the first episode.

At first I thought the old guy was a jerk because he said he wouldn't warn the village. Now I see why he acted that way in the beginning. So the shark was basically a red herring, the red tide was actually the real danger back then.

But I'm sort of confused a little bit. So when the wife died 10 years ago, was there a red tide or was the sea red because of her blood?

Because if it was a red tide then a lot more villagers would've died because eating the fish during a red tide would kill them.

In any case, I'm glad the little girl got her voice back. And I have to say those bird mushi were toooooo cute <3

You have to wonder though, how long will these peaceful episodes last? Going back to season 1 I remember there was a lot of sadness and uncurable mushi. I sense the coming episodes won't be as pleasant as these ones.

What an episode. This is what Mushishi is all about. Morals !!

The meaning behind the episode is so deep I can't even express it to words. All I know is, we really need each other to rely on.

Really great episode. I loved the symbolism with Mina losing her voice, as her father was restricting her ability to make connections with people and move on by telling her not to talk to anyone.

liked the fact that ginko wasnt the feature of the ep, the show can carry itself without him and still work beautifully
"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."

Mina and her dad could have sold the pearl, kept the money for themselves and move to another place but no. He has finally forgiven himself and the village for what happened and decided to open up and protect everyone. What a nice ending T__T

Two episodes with good endings, we all know what's coming.

This was even better than the first episode. It was such an emotional roller coaster:
The warmth and joy of the two girls' friendship, the shock and sadness of Minna's mother's death, and finally the grief/relief of the head fisherman when he accepted the pearl from Sakichi and Minna.
This episode hit all the right notes..especially the music. :D I can't wait until the OST comes out!!
The next episode should be really good; a little melancholic, but always full of mystery (from what I remember from the manga).
