IRC Guidelines

The following guidelines serve as a reference document for both moderators and general users of the MyAnimeList IRC channel, located at #myanimelist@irc.rizon.net. They are a supplement to the Site & Forum Guidelines and take precedence in the event of a conflict. The IRC moderators (ops/@s/full stars), forum moderators (admins/&s/keys) and administrators (owners/~s/houses) reserve the right to make exceptions to these rules whenever they believe it is necessary to do so to maintain proper channel decorum.

If you have any questions regarding any of the rules listed below, feel free to message an IRC moderator or KentaTC.

General IRC Rules

I. Behavior

Behave in a clean and civil manner.
Spamming is not allowed.
Spoilers are not allowed, unless properly hidden using coloured text.
Do not abuse/harass/troll others; this includes insults.
Racism and other derogatory language is not tolerated; this includes slurs.
Refrain from backseat modding. This includes telling another user to stop breaking a rule or calling others trolls. However, you are encouraged to PM a mod if you believe their attention is required.
Do not discuss ignores on the channel. Ignores are strictly for the ignoring user's own benefit and do not serve as a topic of discussion.
Only use English when speaking in the channel.

II. Links & Link Content

Do not post malicious links. This includes links which are intended to steal information from the visitor, transmit malicious software to the visitor's computer and/or otherwise harass the visitor.
All NSFW links must be tagged (i.e. NSFW: URL).
Porn and other extreme images/links may not be posted on the channel for any reason, even if tagged.
Refrain from advertising on the channel.

III. Technical Restrictions

Nicknames must not:
1. contain offensive themes or inflammatory language.
2. impersonate IRC staff or other members (e.g. Xini1).
3. exceed 20 characters (when talking in the channel; idling is okay).
Do not use script responders of any kind.
Only use colored text when marking spoilers.

Failure to abide by these rules will result in various consequences, ranging from verbal warnings to channel bans.
