| "Lady Mio!" A rather unimportant looking extra calls to the captain as she reenters Seireitei through a senkaimon. "Take these two to the Maggot's Nest, and give Mr. Shyen his own cell." "And the third?" "Take her to my quarters. I'll speak to her personally when she wakes up." "Understood, Ma'am." The extra bows before doing precisely what she had asked him to do. Auami is taken to Mio's quarters while the others are taken to the Maggot's Nest. What awaits them there? Keep reading and find out. |

| Mio enters the room, thumbing through a folder and pretending to be busy. Soon as the door is closed, however, her serious attitude melts and she sits down in her favorite chair. "Finally...." She whines lazily as she slouches forward, resting her body on her desk. "Oh, you're already awake? I guess we should get started then..." Mio sits up and clears her throat. "Do you know why you're here? I hope I didn't damage your memory when I knocked you out like that; I'm terribly sorry about that." |

| "The brass needs to grow a backbone, that's for sure." She sighs. "I agree with you wholeheartedly. Our purpose is to balance the worlds and that's kind of hard to do when Menos run amok in major cities...but anyway..." Mio smiles and stands up. "I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?" |

| "Alright. The bad news is that the brass thinks you're suddenly gonna go traitor on us. The good news? I convinced them to drop it on one condition. I have to test your loyalty...and I think I know how I'm going to do just that~" Mio picks up the folder from her desk and hands it to Auami. "I'm going to send you on a mission that I can't trust my own Onmitsukido with. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think you're a traitor, but, there ARE traitors amongst us. You're one of the few people new enough, and expendable enough, to be sent on a mission like this. If you live and complete the mission, then you clear your name. If you die, then the higher ups get their body." Can't fault her for being honest, at least... "All you have to do is some investigation for me. That's it." |

| Mio shrugs. "They're a bunch of paranoid old men. You don't really have to do anything, unfortunately." She sits back down into her chair and spins around in it. The tiny captain tucks in her legs and wraps her arms around them to try to spin longer. "You leave for New York, then. You are to investigate an unknown reiatsu signature and mention this mission to no one." |

| "Use my personal senkaimon...we can't afford you being seen." At that, she performs the ritual to open a senkaimon gate. This one is a bit different than normal ones; no big surprise considering she called it her personal senkaimon. It was darker and looked like it was a gate to the underworld. Mio had strange tastes... "Oh...and don't worry. The escapee is back in his cell. Now go." |

| MEANWHILE... |

| Shyen wakes up in an all encompassing darkness, his head aching and his eyes straining to see anything. The air smelled damp and musty, his clothes felt lighter, smelled different, and were overall of a different material. Looking around he noticed a ray of light peering through somewhere. His eyes started to adjust at last and he realised he was in a cell and dressed in white robes. He tried to summon reiatsu for kido but it was as if there was a block on him, stopping him from using his shinigami abilities. The room was simple, a bench attached to the wall to sit, a deep pit for...things, and a not so luxurious mat, probably for sleeping on. But the thing Shyen's eyes set on after seeing it, was his zanpakutou. He picked it up. There was something strange about it. He tried to draw it, and he couldn't. He then tried to hit his arm with it, and upon contact it felt like a cushion. Then he remembered, he had slipped into consciousness when he was thrown into the cell. "You are still imprinting your reiatsu onto you zanpakutou, so you get to keep it since you're... The memory ended. Since he'd what? Then again, it didn't matter now, he was in a cell, and he thought it might be the nest of maggots, but he couldn't be conclusive. A voice came from the door. "I'm to direct you into the main chamber." "Main chamber?" Shyen's voice wracked from his throat. "You will see, just come." The door swung open, revealing a rather big man. Shyen wouldn't try his luck in here, especially if it really were the nest of maggots. "Here we are then, in ya go." The man's hand roughly pushed Shyen into a bright open chamber filled with others in the same white dress as he. He began to walk in cautiously, scanning the room for threats as he did so. |

| Minna woke up to find herself in a cell, wearing only a white robe and utterly deprived of weaponry. She could feel reishi all around her, tipping her off to it not being the world of the living...but where was she exactly? While she thought about it, her cell was opened and she was dragged out and into some kind of main chamber where there were hundreds, thousands of people in the same white robes as her. Her eyes darted around each corner of the room, spotting Shyen as she did so. But if he was here then....well that was it then. She must be in hell. |

| As Shyen scanned the room he spotted the girl from the shrine in Kyoto, and just as he was about to wave he saw some of the white robes advance on him. Smiling, Shyen greeted the advancing men. "O-hai guys, what'cha up to?" Shyen's voice had regained its smooth composure, and a giant of a man stepped forward. "We are up to beaten on a spoiled rich kid. We heard about you from the guard." The ruffian said in his gruff tone. "Ah so you've heard of me, I guess there's no need for introductions. However, I am curious....is this the rumoured Maggot's Nest?" The advancing men shot glances at each other, but the big man just stared at Shyen and nodded once, then stated, "You seem to be out of place boy, you don't get to ask...QUESTIONS!" Whilst in the middle of talking the big man launched a fist at Shyen. It was expected, and was the oldest trick in the book. Shyen took a step forward with his right foot, swivelling so that the robe over his chest would brush slightly against the outside of the man's arm. Still continuing with the swivel, his left leg passed his right, his back now facing the big man, his left elbow outstretched as he completed the swivel, turning back to face his attacker, his momentum being put into his left arm as he fully extended it, hitting the giant in the shoulder with the back of his half-clenched hand. Upon contact there was a crunch as the giant's arm broke on impact and he was sent flying to the other side of the room. However, Shyen was foolish to think that this was just a sign of one man expressing dominance. In here there was a hive mentality, the name 'Maggot's Nest' was fitting, as the other men had launch themselves at Shyen, swarming and overpowering him as he fell under the onslaught of blows they delivered. If it wasn't for dodging a few attacks at the start he may have been beaten to an inch of his life, but luckily he had managed to avoid all the dangerous hits, though his back and face was still bruised, reddened and bloody from the fight. And there Shyen lay, huddled in a ball to protect himself in the middle of the room as the last of the men spat on him and went back to their devices, ignoring him. |

| With a sigh, Minna walks over and offers a hand if he wants it. He looked like he could use the lift. |

| After a time of not being hit, Shyen dared to look up to see a maiden's outstretched hand. He accepts it and hauls himself to his feet using Minna as a focus point for his strength. "Ah it's you Foxy-chan. I must look wretched." Shyen said light heartedly, smiling as though he hadn't just been beaten to a pulp. |
| "I come for all who grow, crawl, and walk. I am the perfect hunter. In the end, I am the victor." |
| "Wretched would be a fucking compliment." She grins back as she lets him lean on her. |

| "I think we should find a corner to discuss why we're in here." Shyen says in a serious tone, but chuckling from Minna's last statement. "We may have more information if we put our heads together." |
| "I come for all who grow, crawl, and walk. I am the perfect hunter. In the end, I am the victor." |
| "Why not anywhere? I don't think anyone would care to listen in on us..." Perhaps it was just wishful thinking, but really it was because he was heavy and she didn't want to have to carry his weight more than she had to. |

| "Just here will be fine then." With the assistance of Minna, Shyen hobbled over and sat against a wall created by some jutted out rock and rubble. "Since you probably don't know about this place. This is Maggot's Nest, Rumoured to hold potential criminals and hazards to soul society. I've only heard of it because I was friends with someone from the Shihoin family." Shyen takes a breath as he feels into his coat, touching his bruised abdominals and wincing. "In other words, these are all trained shinigami who haven't done a single thing wrong. Other than being an occasional bigmouth or having high ambitions anyway." "you've probably realised that you can't focus your reiatsu in here?" |

| The Maggot's Nest? Not hearing about it doesn't really surprise Minna; much less the fact that apparently it was secret even to most shinigami. "I'm not a trained shinigami though, just a substitute that's not really good at anything." She sighs in defeat. As the two talked, it would seem that someone had developed an interest. This someone however kept their distance...for now. |

| Shyen shrugged at Minna's comment. "You obviously did something to cause the Gotei 13 to take action." After a short while of talking some guards entered the room, taking people back to their cells. "it seems like it's about time to go back to our cells...guards are cycling through. It's boring around here, nothing but brawls and shogi. I wish there was some other sort of entertainment." Shyen expressed in a bored, exasperated tone. |

| It was now that their little eavesdropper made herself known. She walked up to them with a confident smirk on her face. She had long, black hair tied into two ponytails and piercing red eyes with a slightly pale complexion. "Well...I know a fun thing we can do." "About damn time you approached us." The young lady was astonished. "You knew I was there?!" Minna's ears twitched. "I could hear your heart pounding." "Those seem....useful..." |

| When the stranger spoke Shyen tensed, preparing to defend himself, but as he did so, his muscles put pressure on his bruises causing him to double over in pain. "Tch. This is gunna be a pain." Shyen muttered under his breath as Minna exchanged words with the stranger. His eyes shot to Minna's ears, looking at them as they twitched and he had the urge to scratch them. Then he tore his eyes away and focussed on the new comer. It was then he realised that her features held Kuchiki heritage in them, and he dared to ask, "Who are you?" |
| "I come for all who grow, crawl, and walk. I am the perfect hunter. In the end, I am the victor." |
| "I suppose that's fair..." The stranger admits to herself. "My name is Aria Kuchiki, and I want to get out of here." The name probably would have impressed Minna if she had any idea, or even gave a rats ass about, who the Kuchiki were. She guessed they were supposed to be important because this girl's mannerisms screamed nobility; or as Minna calls it: spoiled bitch. |

| Shyen let out a low chuckle. "I guessed as much. I am of the Jihei branch...my lady." Shyen stressed the last two words to make it sound like a mockery. "So how do you plan to do that? Escape I mean?" |

| Her smirk twitches slightly. "I thought about it and determined that the best course of action would be..." Oh the suspense... "More than one person coming up with the plan." That wasn't very impressive... |

| Shyen let out a breath he found he had been holding in. "Well, you're a Kuchiki, you must have some influence? All we need is one corrupt guard, or to get information on an escape route. There has to be one for safety reasons surely." Just then the next round of guards entered the yard, 3 of them approached the small party. The big man that had escorted Shyen to the yard in the morning stepped forward. "Time to go back to your cells guys. Come on." |
| "I come for all who grow, crawl, and walk. I am the perfect hunter. In the end, I am the victor." |
| Aria yawns. "I was getting tired anyway." With that, she was escorted by no less than 4 guards, but she looks back at Shyen and Minna, smirking triumphantly. Minna did not like this person, but there was little she could do about it right now. |

| As Shyen was pushed into his cell he reflected on what the Kuchiki had said. He didn't even think about escaping, but now that the idea was in his thoughts it was starting to become his drive. There was a knock at the door and a young girl entered his chamber. "Hi, I'm Elaria from division 4. I am to heal your wounds, it was expected this would happen." Shyen nodded, cringing as he shifted, his mind coming back to his wounds as Elaria healed him. "You'll probably get another beating tomorrow, so I will see you then. You should get some rest, I was channelling your own reiatsu to heal your injuries. Good night." Then the healer left Shyen alone, the lock clunking back into place. Later that night, before Shyen was about to sleep he thought he heard a voice. I'm here, can you hear? But that was it. He chocked it up to fatigue and rested, until the next morning when the guard escorted him back to the Yard. ------------------------------ As the guard was escorting the young girl, Minna, back to her cell she said warningly, "It's best not to get involved with the Kuchiki, probably Jihei as well. Messing around with nobles in here isn't usually the best idea." |

| "Oh well ain't you a sight for sore eyes~" Minna mocks him. "Being nice to a prisoner probably isn't the best idea that you could make...unless you want something from me. Otherwise, I'll make my own decisions on who to mess around with." |

| The guard just shrugged. "Fine by me. As far as I see it, there's no reason not to be nice to people in here. You are just a potential, you haven't done anything to earn hostility from me." The guard arrives at Minna's cell and opens the door for the prisoner, jerking her head to indicate for the prisoner to go inside. "Get a good nights rest, not like there's much else you can do in these cells. A guard goes by every now and then, if you need anything just ask." |

| Too bad Minna was too proud for that. She walks into her cell without another word. |

| ~The Next Morning~ With a hand leaving his shoulder gently, Shyen steps into the courtyard once more, the mob of inmates parting way to let him through, becoming a circle around him. It seems like they will be having another shot at me today... |

| "Back off, scumbags." The Kuchiki from yesterday ordered, silently threatening them with her entourage of guards. If they were smart, they'd do it. If they weren't smart, they'd try to attack her instead. It was a win win for Aria Kuchiki. Minna frowns. She was about to jump into the fray and help out if need be but the bitch stole her thunder. |

| Shyen holds up his hand hand to halt the commotion caused by the noblewoman. "No, let them try, only interfere if it's life or death..." A wicked smile spread across Sheyn's face as his sentence continued, "...for them." Although this riled some up, the circle lost people at the sight of the guards, the circle of around 30 or so people became 10. All the spectators were watching intently. The big man from the previous day lunged forward with his elbow, in response Shyen ducked, and as fluid as a wave of water, rose from his low position swiftly, extending both arms into the man's chest, launching him up into the air before falling with a sickening crunch. A woman came from behind with clenched fists, Shyen's body swivelled so that he was side on with her, his left forearm deflecting the woman's punch, and as her left fist thundered towards him he battered it away with his right in the same fashion, creating an opening as he lifted his knee into her stomach, toppling her over, then shoving her to the side with a kick. Two men came at once then. One tried to grapple Shyen, in reply Shyen willingly locked arms with him, as the second came to the side, a large hammy fist about to beat down on him from above, Shyen leapt off his feet, shifting his weight so that he ended up balancing on top of the arms of the man he was, and still is, grappling with, the first man's arms becoming bent at the elbows. The big fist missed, and the other man then tried to throw Shyen. In the same instant this happened Shyen's foot descended from above, his stomach crunching and his leg extended, kicking the top of the fat man's head, causing his body to fall limply to the ground. Shyen held his drip of the man throwing him however, and in the same movement of his kick, Shyen seemingly followed through from his kick, using his opponent's momentum and force, to complete a flip. Utilising all the built up momentum in his body, extending from the flip, Shyen still holding the man's arms but his own arms not being held any more, threw the man into the air behind himself. He did not see it, but he heard a spluttered cry when his aggressor hit the hard floor. "six left" Shyen thought to himself. This time four approached. "Time to go on the offensive." Shyen ran up to the one on the far left, ducking low, feinting a kick at his legs, before his other leg launched him into the air spinning, Shyen's kick connecting with the his opponent's head, sending him flying. The next in line ran up to him, trying to attack Shyen as he made contact with the ground, but like a falling piece of cloth, as Shyen did hit the ground he ducked, dodging a fist and continuing his spin, resulting in a low kick at his attacker's legs. Shyen kept spinning, swapping legs immediately after the kick connected so he could come around with his other leg to kick his opponent as he was falling. The kick didn't have much force behind it, but it hit in a soft part of his opponent's back, toppling him to the side in pain. The third and fourth arrived at the same time, and one attempted to kick Shyen. Shyen sidestepped and grabbed the man's leg with both arms, using the force of his kick to spin, clubbing the man's ally with his body, knocking the fourth down, as he completed the spin and leg go of the third's leg, launching him to the side of the room into a wall. He then followed through with the fourth, jumping into the air and then elbowing the fallen man's stomach with great force, then completing a forward flip to regain his stance. Two left, one a a buff man a little taller then Shyen, who held out his arm to stop the other competitor from advancing. He walked up to Shyen, standing face to face, and delivered a forceful headbutt to his Shyen's nose. What happened next, to all except the most observant spectators, would seem as though the brawny man just staggered back before his body fell limply to the ground, but in reality, Shyen tucked his chin into his chest, giving his neck and head extra support as the larger man's head came into contact with his, his own force that he meant to deliver in the blow resounding back into him knocking him out, though in truth Shyen still felt the impact and was a little dizzy. One left. "So, you want to try still?" Shyen said to the audience, but his yes were on the man, as if questioning him specifically. In response the man shook his head and fell to his knees. "Well then." Shyen muttered under his breath as he walked over to Mina. "The brute just gave me a masiive freak'n headache, mind kissing it better?" |

| This struck a nerve in Minna. Instead of a kiss, she plants a knee into his face. |

| Shyen, having felt smug from his victory as well as having a killer headache, was caught off guard as Minna's knee bloodied his nose as it hit his face. "Gyah! What was that for!?" Shyen whined as he tried to stem the flow of blood from his nose. |

| "It didn't work the first time you asked." Minna answers him with a hint of frustration. The Kuchiki laughs. "You two get along well~" "No we don't!" Minna snaps. |

| Shyen sits down, back resting against a wall of rock, legs crossed, hands in his lap, and hair dishevelled. "So, did anything...weird, happen to you last night?" Shyen asked, a curious look on his face. |
| "I come for all who grow, crawl, and walk. I am the perfect hunter. In the end, I am the victor." |
| "A guard was nice to me. That's about it." Minna answers. The Kuchiki stays out of the conversation. |

| "Hmm. I heard voices inside my head, I was hoping I wasn't the only one going crazy...must be because I have a free spirit." Shyen sighed disheartened. |
| "I come for all who grow, crawl, and walk. I am the perfect hunter. In the end, I am the victor." |
| Minna chooses to ignore the fact that he's probably just going crazy. Maybe she kneed him too hard? The Kuchiki approaches them, guardless, and smiles. "So...my partners in crime, let's get plotting." |

| The kuchiki explains the plan as such: "I have a contact that can give us an escape route via the underground drain pipes. We can access them from the wash rooms. Tomorrow night the cameras will be turned off, and the guards will leave their posts..." The Kuchiki's eyes become hard as she sets her gaze upon Minna. "And all of the young women will be put into a single cell for the night...be on your guard." She turns to Shyen, seemingly observing him. "And Shyen, you need to pump reiatsu into that zanpakutou of yours so that you can nullify the seal. We'll need someone to help defend us, especially if push comes to shove. Only reason I'm taking you along." --------------- Shyen assumed a helpless expression and let out a sigh. "So you're not helpin' me outa familial affection?" |

| The Kuchiki laughs quietly. "Of course not." Minna nods in understanding. She could take care of herself even without the cleaver of a zanpakuto of hers. And yet...it called to her...or perhaps a part of her? She didn't quite understand it, but she had to get her zanpakuto back. She states as much to the Kuchiki, who takes note of that. "It must really feel close to you despite still being sealed...unusual but not unheard of." |

| As usual, at the end of the day all of the prisoners were rounded up and brought to their cells in preparation for the next day. ----------------------------------- In his cell, Shyen sat cross-legged, meditating with his zanpakutou, allowing his reiatsu to seep into it. The voices from the previous night became louder and louder, until suddenly they stopped after it said its final words. "Hello young one, you should sleep. We will be needed for tomorrow. Sleep" When Shyen fell asleep, zanpakutou still on his lap and in his meditative position, he had a strange and excruciatingly vivid and lucid dream... (will be posting the dream as it is his attaining a shikai, need to find inner world stuff.) |

| In the dream, Shyen walked along a road of stone until he came to an ancient, gothic portcullis. Behind it was the moon, swinging like a pendulum in the sky. (Inner World) As Shyen walked through the portcullis, he noticed more portcullises ahead, continuing on forever, never ending. A single eyed raven flew down from the moon, flapping furiously as it landed on one of the stone carved statues on the side of the stone road. There was nothingness beyond the edges, just an eerie blend of dark colours. The crow squawked, capturing Shyen's attention, as it fixed it's single gleaming eye upon him. "What's with this dream?" Shyen thought aloud. The raven leapt from the stone figure onto the stone pavement, hopping over towards Shyen before squawking. Shyen crouched, becoming somewhat level with the raven, making eye contact. A melodic, soothing voice resonated within his mind. "This isn't a dream young one~ It is your inner world." Shyen, startled, leapt away from the crow before glaring at it. "Was that you?" The raven tilted its head. "Yes." "Who are you?" "I am ------, your zanpakutou spirit." "Sorry...what was that? I didn't hear your name..." "-and you won't. Not until you see my true form, and unlock my secrets." "True form?" As the world left through Shyen's lips, the raven seemed to spiral upwards, expanding, until it became a dark robed woman. Shyen stood, staring at the woman, as her hair seemingly blended in and conjoined with the night sky, the moon swaying behind her. "A little too much make up don't you think?" Shyen joked, a wry smirk spreading across his face. Like a shadow, the woman moved closer, her scent could only be described as the scent of the darkest night, and it was powerful enough to choke him. His body shivered and pricked with excitement as the woman leaned in closer, her words as black as her lips as they passed through them in a breathy tone. "I am merely what you made me...now...don't you want to play?" There was a tightening in Shyen's pants, and a bead of sweat found its way down his cheek. Then, in an instant, the woman spiralled away a short distance, laughing. "You are entertaining young one. So, now that you're finally here...would you like..." The woman paused as she trailed her arms up her body until she hugged herself. Pausing between each word, she continued. "to...know...me~?" Shyen, sweating furiously and excited beyond all imagining, felt his jaw drop open. "A-a-ah- Kn-know you? What do y-you mean, KNOW you?!" The lady let out a soft laugh that seemed to fill the night, flowing over Shyen like silk, weaving its way into his mind. "Oh boy, you are but young. T'is fun to tease someone so young as yourself." Shyen's face glowed red, blushing. "When I say, do you want to know me, I mean just that. Do you want to know who I am...my name?" Her voice seemed to caress Shyen, forcing him to come gradually closer to her. Shyen swallowed, then hardened his gaze. "Alright my most beautiful lady of the night, would you grant me the privilege of knowing you, would you tell me your most lovely name?" By now, Shyen and the lady were standing nose to nose, embracing each other. The lady lowered her head and kissed Shyen, and when their lips separated she locked onto his eyes before whispering into his ear. "I am Yurayurashinshi...your zanpakutou." Shyen's eyes opened, his clothed drenched in his sweat...and then he looked at his hakama and saw a stain, a remnant from his 'dreaming.' His eyes then trailed to his zanpakutou, the seals on it marred, and he passed his hand gently along it. "Damn..." [size=200]THE NEXT MORNING [/size] |
